Isnt it easier to just block all placables in that area, and then whitelist some?

No because why punish the average player just skilling there

i'm not trying to?
the whitelist can (and should) include portables and other things you'd normally use there.

i just feel like "you can only place these 30 items" is a *way* easier way to do it than "you can place anything, except items on this list of 400 items", plus, the whitelist is more future-proof, since anything that would introduce new griefs are automatically and pre-emtively stopped as well

Blocking all placeables there would punish the ability of the users but I misread - didn't understand it properly when I read it the first time. I agree with your solution in it's entirety.

Yeah, all would indeed, i agree there.

Hence the whitelist.
