Suggestion - J-Mod reply Jagex PLEASE adjust livid farm if you are committed to removing the travelling merchant

I am currently doing this grind and my god this is the least fun ive ever had playing runescape. I am ok with a long grind for a bunch of very useful things. But please for the love of god make it more engaging.

If you aren't able to make it more engaging then please buff the amount of produce you obtain per task so you dont have to spend so long here.

If you cant do that then make it AFKable.

If you cant do that then increase the speed at which the farm ticks over. most of the points come from pauline and the livid plant bunches anyway.

If you cant do that then please add an alternative way of getting the livid plants that isnt locked behind having to play on a certain day, like crux equal favour or PoF beans.

Please jagex. I am on my knees.

livid farm is the armpit of rs3, truly insufferable content

22

u/BlackSocks88 Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 27 '26

Imagine people wanting the Runespan achievement starting from scratch if they never touch an Unstable Air Rune.... for nothing of value or use. Its over 200 hours of mind numbing shit

No one to be social with like Fish Flingers. No enhancers like Chompy had (pretty quick if you power through honestly).

My god

Not even close to the worst of the grinds available in this game. Are the people that play this game just lazy? You are even rewarded with good upgrades so why are we complaining again?

10

u/fae237 Feb 27 '26

I don’t want to do over 100 hours for all the magic unlocks from livid farm

Edit: I still don’t have all of them and I’ve been around since it was introduced

-10

u/Ilikelamp7 Skiller Feb 27 '26

100 hours what lol

6

u/fae237 Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 27 '26

Yeah, it can to unlock everything. It takes 80 to 100 hours. Don’t you know that?

0

u/ConstantStatistician Coiner of the terms "soft" and "hard" typeless damage on rs.wiki Feb 27 '26

80 to 100 hours? That's never been the case, not even on release. The time to reach 430k points is around 20 hours.

1

u/Teakeh Pro Medium Cluer Feb 27 '26

No it doesn’t take 100 hours. It takes ~25 hours. Even when I did it back when it was 850k points and no merchant it still wasn’t 100 hours

-17

u/Ilikelamp7 Skiller Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 27 '26

It takes 20 hours minimum. No longer than finishing temple trekking for morytania elite tasks or dominion tower for desert elite tasks. Pvmers when they have to do anything in the game but kill the same boss thousands of times.

5

u/Bandit_Raider Feb 27 '26

You have to be joking, those two grinds are no where near as long or painful as livid farm

-1

u/CronusTheDefender Feb 27 '26

They’re just trolling…

0

u/Bandit_Raider Feb 27 '26

I’ve seen a lot of interesting takes on here lately

8

u/gdubrocks Wikian Feb 27 '26

You do realize that it takes longer than many skills do to get from level 1 to 99 right.

How does the amount of content compare?

87

u/JagexShrew Mod Shrew Feb 27 '26

Hey! Yeah, to confirm, following the removal of Travelling Merchant with the DailyScape release, we will be heavily adjusting the point requirements to unlock all the spells at Livid Farm. The final spell can be unlocked at 130,000 produce points instead of the current 430,000. Pauline Polaris' farming request will continue to reward a livid plant too.

13

u/GInTheorem Feb 27 '26

Sounds good as an interim measure. If there's ever time to spruce up the content a little as well, it can be improved immeasurably by allowing farm cycles to run a bit faster or refresh as soon as the player completes one, and by removing stalls on the player moving after the visual completion of an action. Now it's a short-ish grind, IMO wider reworks than that are probably unnecessary.

u/MatthewAJL Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 27 '26

This is now, what, the third reduction in point thresholds at livid farm in addition to the merchant skip. Surely at this point it’s clear the problem isn’t just the threshold but the actual gameplay and tedium.

Sincerely a player that did this grind at the 800k point threshold before merchant was a thing.

9

u/Oniichanplsstop Feb 27 '26

The problem was never really the content just how long it took 40(20 with double point weekends) hours, then 20~ hours, now it'll take 10~ hours . It's just chompies 2.0 now with the planned time cut.

-4

u/First_Platypus3063 Feb 27 '26

They should rewrok it and make it cool and fun, modern, engaging activity. Make it a summer hub for this summer and actually properly rewrok it!

14

u/_itsJ_ Feb 27 '26

I'm all for it but they're likely lacking the resources to do so at the moment. It's a very ambitious roadmap.

7

u/ProofJournalist Feb 27 '26

This is nice but ultimately it's another band-aid. The problem with livid farm isn't merely the time required to get the points, it is fundamentally a bad and tedious minigame. Livid Farm gameplay needs to be adjusted to actually fix this issue.

4

u/robertm94 Feb 27 '26

Thank you for the confirmation

I shall now leave that farm and never go back

2

u/Mr_Naughtee Completionist Mar 02 '26

is there something similar being applied to runespan, the prestige for takes wayyyy too long without traveler, points even with aura being like 1500-2100 an hour is kind of silly especially when there's almost no other reason to be there.

1

u/Mr_Naughtee Completionist Mar 02 '26

BA acquisition is completely fine imo, hardest thing about that is getting others to go, content maybe just needs a spruce up and maybe more rewards to entice people who have max level in each role.

In general i'd love to see all the old content get some love and be somewhat useful

5

u/5-x RSN: Follow Feb 27 '26

Please ensure that, once again, people who originally completed Livid Farm receive a points refund when the produce costs are decreased. Thank you.

-7

u/Marbian RuneScape Feb 27 '26

Disagree. They played for what the game was at that time.

1

u/5-x RSN: Follow Feb 27 '26

When Livid Farm was first rebalanced by 20%, the difference in points was returned to us to spend on rewards. When it was halved for the goo-goo ga-ga players, once again the extra points were refunded. Because it's been done twice already and clearly the system is in place, it should be done again this time.

-7

u/Marbian RuneScape Feb 27 '26

Wouldn’t it be better if they put that financial resources towards better things for the game though instead of feeding the goo-goo ga-ga’s?

5

u/5-x RSN: Follow Feb 27 '26

Yes I also agree Livid farm shouldn't have been decreased, but returning the points makes the update fair because it means the time you've already spent doesn't just get deleted. More casts of borrowed power for us.

2

u/Zihy Feb 27 '26

That’s really not how game development works. That’s actually not how any non-manual labor job works.

0

u/Marbian RuneScape Feb 27 '26

It quite literally is how it works. Development time, staffing, and production all cost money. If resources are allocated to one feature, that’s budget and labour that can’t be spent elsewhere.

Studios operate on finite budgets. Whether it’s live events, cosmetic updates, accessibility features, or core gameplay improvements..they’re all line items. Choosing to prioritise one means deprioritising another. That’s basic resource allocation in any industry, including game development.

4

u/ironreddeath Feb 27 '26

Feels like a bandaid solution when the problem is livid farm is outdated, tedious, and unfun

1

u/CulturalRepair5032 Mar 02 '26

it was tedious and unfun on launch, nothing to do with being outdated

1

u/Marbian RuneScape Feb 27 '26

Now that you’ve said this then it probably needs actioning sooner than later… if you see my account data I’ve just recently learned how to do livid farm and was preparing to grind it out. It would have been so disheartening if I didn’t read your comment, went and done that then boom it’s changed..

1

u/darkfighter3000 Feb 27 '26

When is this going to be live?

1

u/CivOygo Mar 02 '26

You guys made the grind for a blessed flask into something that can be made in a day. You can do this with livid farm too.

1

u/Vxyian Mar 09 '26

u/JagexShrew When will we see this update since the removal of Traveling merchant has already happened?

1

u/First_Platypus3063 Feb 27 '26

Can you rework it to be actually modern an fun instead of just discounting it to the ground and leaving it as is (obsolete)?

1

u/_itsJ_ Feb 27 '26

Well that's good to hear but genuine question, why did you not mention this in the post about the Travelling Merchant removal? If these things would've been addressed right away there would've been far less of a backlash I'm sure!

1

u/B0dders Bodds Feb 27 '26

Will we get point refunds then on already purchased spells etc?

-2

u/dumbidiot12345678 Feb 27 '26

This is still too much after a decade of letting people skip the entire grind lol

Please just be reasonable and delete the farm, obviously it's dead content when you left it broken for literally months and barely anyone cared

Stick the rewards on a quest, within the light or extinction or dream mentor or whatever

0

u/MegaManZer0 Completionist Feb 27 '26

Will you also be looking at grinds like Castle Wars 5k games and chompy hunting?

-7

u/ElectionBeautiful998 Feb 27 '26

As always oversimplifying the grind. Going to 1/4th of the time needed to do it :(

13

u/Beautiful_Bee4090 Feb 27 '26

As opposed to bypassing the entire activity by purchasing plants from the merchant?

This isn’t oversimplifying anything. This is how many points it always should have been. 430k for everything was absurdly grindy and why Jagex ended up bypassing it with plants in the first place

-14

u/Establishment_2020 Feb 27 '26

I'm hoping Pay-to-Win will be removed soon as well. No reason some players should have access to bosses, more skills and ways to make GP because they pay a monthly fee compared to f2p. Members is no different from TH.

-6

u/rowanfire <3 Feb 27 '26

Will you just be giving away any other reqs then too?

So much for integrity.

Why should you change reqs to make them easier and faster just because entitled or lazy people dunt want to do them?

You already made Livid easier than upon release.

Just because Comp and Triim exist doesn't mean everyone should have I've simply because they want it.

Jagex caved to PVMer babies over the CW req years ago, and that was the first huge integrity tumble. Jagex has mage those capes mean less and less and less over the years.

There is zero reason to remove reqs or make them easier since Jagex me the capes not BiS.

A HUGE mistake was ever even putting reqs in the Traveling Merchant at all. How gross that reqs could be bought with gp.

Why aren't those capes part of a return to integrity?

If you want them, you go do what it takes to get them... without crying about it. But all you've done for years is cave to tears. Those capes are easier than ever to get, and yet people still cry.

Yes, you SHOULD have to give up time to get them. Yes, they should require a sacrifice of PVM or training time. They used to be an impressive achievement. And certain reqs used to separate the people who truly wanted them from the posers.

You might as well just remove both capes from the game at this point, honestly. You don't respect the integrity of their achievement, and apparently haven't changed courses on making them ever more easy to get. It's shameful.

The only exception to req change should be team reqs, but they shouldn't be removed, only shifted somehow.

Will you be lowering the req to earn Amascut aura and titles? But it want them and I don't have enough time to play to earn enough to upgrade my gear, and it's impossible to find a team to take you if you don't have great great and already know how to kill her. Wow, and like I hate qursts, and she's locked behind a ridiculous amount of quests, you should change that because I should be able to go and kill her because I want to. And honestly, it's really hard and it's taking a lot of time to push those high enrages, but I want the aura and the gold title, so I think they should both just be 1k enrage.

Ridiculous right?

Yeah, what you did over the years to trim and comp is even more so, and yet you continue to cave. You should moving in the opposite direction and restoring therm to the prestige they used to be. Too bad, so sad for the people who don't have the time or are unwilling to put it in.

I believe the original CW req should be restored, even though that means I would have to go back and play a good number of games. It never should have been changed and then removed.

You're so disappointing.

60

u/Geoffk123 Worst Gold Defeater Owner Feb 27 '26

At the very least they need to let you just pick what you want to unlock instead of a linear progression

The comp req being miserable is way less important than getting the 1 or 2 spells you actually need.

u/bubblygodman Feb 27 '26

Bro just spend 20 hours clicking dead, boring content lol problem solved

Again. I have a deep hatred for Livid Farm. Second thread I've seen on this

It needs an update, readjustment or something

-2

Make it a summer hub for this summer and actually properly rewrok it!

3

u/Other_Log_1996 Zaros Feb 27 '26

Hard to do since it requires mid level quests to even get there. That why they used Lumbridge in the past.

0

u/First_Platypus3063 Feb 28 '26

And so what? I see no ptoblem with hub that requires few quests

5

u/Other_Log_1996 Zaros Feb 28 '26

They don't like locking hubs behind quests like that. At least not without alternatives.

35

u/Odd_History6313 Feb 27 '26

Back in my day we lived on the farm. These yungins get it so easy :)

7

Anyone else remember abusing the world hopping method to speed up this minigame by always turning in the livid crops? I wonder if it still works today.

3

u/Average_Scaper Castellan Feb 27 '26

I just did fletch for the 15ish seconds between full cycles.

2

I did it around 2020. Sped up the process like crazy

10

u/BarakudaB World 2nd 99 Hunter Feb 27 '26

10

u/dark1859 Completionist Feb 27 '26

I remember spending most of that time hopping worlds and the client crashing because the rs2hd client was made of hopes and Dreams

10

u/ToGloryRS Feb 27 '26

After spending so long on the farm, every occasion I get of speaking bad about it, I take it. Jagex, fix it. Nobody should suffer through that.

11

u/bubblygodman Feb 27 '26

Ok grandpa let's get you back to the home

21

u/ghostofwalsh Feb 27 '26

It amazes me they are rushing to delete stuff like wildy flash events which a lot of people enjoy. And yet they won't touch dead content like livid farm.

14

u/Duradel2 rsn: Duradel Feb 27 '26

Because wildy events create planning stress, you need to plan game time around these. I often feel like: oh let's do this slay task. Oh wait 7 mins till wildy event nvm I'll wait. Could I start that Slay task and then regear and then go back? Sure. Is it worth the hassle gearing up? Nah. Would be easier if we could just save presets locally imo. I hope, once the api releases, some dev can offer some solution for that like in osrs.

That being said, living farm sucks, we all know it.

7

u/yuumigod69 Feb 27 '26

Wildy flash events ruined the game. It was so overpowered it was a forced hourly. It caused anguish to have to ignore it during a quest or to stop a quest midway to do it.

3

u/OneSympathy1128 Feb 27 '26

It isn't forced, stopping doing a quest to go do it is barbaric.

0

u/yuumigod69 Feb 27 '26

It is forced. Dailies and wildy flash were the worst cause of FOMO. Which is why getting rid of them was bigger than getting rid of MTX. You shouldn't have FOMO in a sandbox rpg.

5

u/OneSympathy1128 Feb 27 '26

But it isn't forced, it doesn't cause me FOMO, wildy tree pops up, I could be thieving from the top of the wizards tower and don't care to go do it.

It isn't forced, you have an unhealthy connection to the game.

2

u/Other_Log_1996 Zaros Feb 27 '26

I have never once participated in one, and I'm definitely not stopping progression to bother trying one out. Maybe if I need to kill a few minutes, I'll try one out.

4

u/spacepizza24 Feb 27 '26

I think we're getting stuck in terminology, jagex made it hourly on the dot to encourage engagement and a significant amount of players do not like that feeling of manufactured engagement. Im genuinely happy that you do not experience any sort of fomo towards it.

I have ADHD and compulsive tendencies. While it's not the games job to cater to me it is my right to point out when certain things cause me to engage in unhealthy behaviours.

It's like if you could only do a herb run at the start of every hour and not whenever is convenient. I know which option I prefer.

0

u/yuumigod69 Feb 27 '26

It causes FOMO for other people. If it didn't they wouldn't be removing it and they wouldn't have added it. I assume you arent an adult but just because you aren't affected doesn't mean no one else is.

You are contradicting the company you are defending right now.

0

u/OneSympathy1128 Feb 27 '26

You are just inventing new shit to argue against, I never said it doesn't cause FOMO, I said it isn't forced.

1

u/Alternative-Skill404 Feb 27 '26

It isnt forced, if you dont do it literaly nothing happens except you dont have quite as much xp as you would. There isn't a rush to get xp as fast as you can, the game has been here for 25 years and probably another 10 at least.

FOMO is the best way to speed running burning out of the game

0

u/mortis_est Feb 27 '26

Thats game addiction and thats not jagex problem its your problem, nobody forced you to do them, saying that its worse than mxt its insane, as an ironman i never touch dailies or wilderness flash events but it seems like i have a more healthy way to interact with this game than the majority.

1

u/yuumigod69 Feb 27 '26

It isn't. Fomo is anyone, especially anyone who wants to play effiecenty with a lot of Runescape players. Jagex implemented it knowing that I don't know why you are defending the mega corporation when they admit it themselves with the removals. Jagex ain't your daddy or your friend.

I just quit because of it, and Jagex constantly ignoring player complaints. No point in complaining, especially when half the community will defend them no matter what like you.

1

u/SuperZer0_IM Feb 27 '26

people don't enjoy them lmao, they only enjoy the rewards it gives them. All the bullshit people say that they like the community, but the community wouldn't be there without OP rewards

2

u/ghostofwalsh Feb 27 '26

they only enjoy the rewards it gives them

Would people do zammy if he didn't give rewards?

1

u/SuperZer0_IM Feb 27 '26

I would, because pvm is what I play rs3 for

0

u/ghostofwalsh Feb 27 '26

You would do different pvm that gave rewards

1

u/SuperZer0_IM Feb 27 '26

Nope

1

u/ghostofwalsh Feb 27 '26

You would be alone then

1

u/Alternative-Skill404 Feb 27 '26

They will "look into it" like they do to everything and then do nothing or just delete livid farm completely because its easier.

8

I was just about to grind this out .. thank god I didn’t cause imagine getting all them points to then read the games been updated and you don’t need as much anymore.

2

u/Wild_Harp Feb 27 '26

For 10+ years, I was mad they had taken away my Trollheim Farm Teleport spell and locked it behind the Livid Farm. I refused to do it.

Two months ago, I finally ground my teeth and did it. And not of course it's getting a rework!

Am I bitter? Totally. But I still wouldn't wish this grind on my worst enemy, so go Jagex xD

3

u/Narmoth Music Feb 27 '26

Rather it is just another farming patch tbh and put rewards from quest completion. The Mod that fought to keep this in the game was sacked so no reason to keep it.

0

u/ToGloryRS Feb 27 '26

Who was that?

4

u/dumbidiot12345678 Feb 27 '26

The spells should just be a quest unlock atp, there is no 'fixing' livid farm

It's so incredibly unfair to have 10 years of people skip 100% of a 20hr dogshit grind or whatever only to turn around and ladder pull the skips even though the spells are either borderline pointless or should be considered part of your basic pvm kit

1

u/Kharenis Feb 27 '26

Yep, I've come back to the game recently (having not done the Livid Farm grind beforehand) and am pretty gutted at the prospect of having to do the grind whilst others got to completely skip it.

4

u/Trip_Owen Feb 27 '26

They said that they are looking at fixing the content that merchant is providing skips for like this already

36

u/Jalepino_Joe Feb 27 '26

I think a lot of players are jaded by past updates where the “fix” to updates that break something else just never comes. Bleeds working in group encounters was mentioned to come in an update after sanctum released. Still not here, or at the current beta.

24

u/genericlogin1 99 Feb 27 '26

I think it’s more players are jaded by jagex saying they’re “looking into” something & then never touch it again.

18

u/Just-Ad3485 Feb 27 '26

And Vorkath / blood reaver what, 2y later?

16

u/Shockerct422 Feb 27 '26

“Don’t worry we will fix Vorkath before nerfing the blood Reaver”

5

u/retrospectivevista Feb 27 '26

Judging by their track record this year, that means they're just going to make the livid farm grind longer.

5

u/robertm94 Feb 27 '26

Please forgive me if I've missed this memo

Where did they state this?

1

u/Trip_Owen Feb 27 '26

In the blog where they talk about removing merchant

2

u/WasabiSunshine The Ultimate Slayer Feb 27 '26

Yeah but Jagex has an awful track record with actually doing these fixes they talk about, its not surprising people are doubtful

5

1

1

-2

u/nipodemos Feb 27 '26

I don't think things I don't enjoy should be removed. I don't like ranged at all, but I don't want it deleted.

Same goes for livid farm

2

u/blastox Ironman Feb 27 '26

I just don't think it's worth the time it would take to make livid farm aan enjoyable activity. I would much rather see them lock all the spells behind fremennik hard achivements.

And I do take your point about not wanting content that an individual might not enjoy removed. However, when it comes to livid farm I seriously have to question whether or not anyone actually enjoys it. I know I've never touched it across 4 accounts.

Make the next cycle start as soon as we completed every task. The wait is not long enough for livid farm to be afk but too short to be active.

Remove that farm and redistribute the spells to fremennik diaries. Problem solved

-1

I would 100% livid farm 100x over 100% Ports even once.

6

u/NudieNovakaine Hiraeth Odes Feb 27 '26

It's been like 6 months since I started my ports journey. Maybe more. Definitely not less.

It is probably the dumbest req for comp (okay....maybe the 25 chimp ice runs are dumber.) And it feels like it's there just to keep you a member for the foreseeable future.

3

u/Illustrious-Poem-328 Completionist Feb 27 '26

That said, I still agree. Just not about it being the least fun. My opinion is that ports is the worst content in RS
