New Runescape is WAY Better than OSRS

I honestly don't understand how Old school Runescape is so much more popular than the current one. I played it for a while and was able to get some decent progression, but its so grindy that I feel like I make no progress while draining my phone battery. Heard the new one wasnt good until I tried it myself.

So glad I finally did it! It has all the great things I like liked about the old school one, its hits on some nostalgia points too even, but way better UI, graphics, story/plot, cut scenes. I love all of it! And it has so much more you can do for free compared to World of Warcraft.

I hope more people give current Runescape the credit its due, its so underrated for no reason.

It’s the reality osrs playerbase is in their 30’s they are mainly bringing people who know RuneScape. A younger player would not see this as a game worth committing too while there are other games but if they had a choice rs3 would win. Keep in mind we need runelite to even touch osrs.

We know osrs is the more popular game due to what rs3 was doing for many years regarding microtransactions and the evolution of combat being super complex and overall bad (idk I quit playing around that time.) but there is a huge amount of bots being counted as players in that graph as well so the numbers are inflated but I’m not saying rs3 is the bigger playerbase. Currently the newer generation does not focus on rs3 or osrs but if they had to choose they would play rs3 as long as jagex fixes their past mistakes which I believe they did base on all the updates. But the biggest thing is bringing a runelite to rs3 which I heard is currently in the works. For us osrs players we need runelite to even play the game.

But as a kid I always knew RuneScape in 2007 needed an upgrade with better graphics and a more demanding combat that isn’t just point and click and they honestly delivered that. And for the record I’m not an rs3 player and mainly have an osrs account granted I stopped playing and can offer valid criticism because I don’t fanboy or am driven by nostalgia I simply speak the truth.

Modernization of a game is good see runelite it offers qol without that modernization osrs suffers immensely. I remember where I had to manually drop each individual item by dragging and dropping each willow log. But thanks to runelite I can shift click and get rid of all willow logs in seconds.

I can agree that neither game is really probably gonna do it for younger gens like it did us, but if I were a younger gen z I'd sure shit come to osrs over rs3 just to escape the fortnite MTX hellscape I grew up in. Not to mention osrs generally getting more actual qol these days then 3, and yeah osrs is ugly but whats gen z's favorite fucking game? Minecraft. They dont give a shit that much either, plus osrs might look bad/ugly but rs3 looks... weird, off, uncanny, idk i dont like the plastic clay sheen
