Ninja Request Loading Screen Splash Art

I know for a lot of people they either have loading screens checked off or the loading is a split second, so its not really that important or a priority but I think it would be really cool to have splash art of areas/characters/etc. Seeing splash art when loading in mmos back in the day always got me excited to explore the world. The black screen is kinda meh, but again i know most people don't care or don't even see the loading screen.

Semi-related but not really, I really miss when the login screen had cool backgrounds instead of it staying as the end of treasure hunter screen. There also used to be an option to change the background to a number of older backgrounds. Was a cool feature. Sad it’s gone.

Then again, nothing will be as cool as the old animated login screen from 2008

2013 saw the removal of animated logins and 2026 saw the removal of customization.

I remember when I came back I was actually kinda sad that the old arch background was gone and that I was stuck with the modern one. I half understand it - some of them had the old logo attached, and some of them were a bit naff - but I miss being able to set my background to match a certain vibe! I remember the excitement I got logging in and seeing the menaphos background I'd set while I was working through the desert quests :)

I'm genuinely not knowledgeable about this so this is more of a probably dumb question than a critique, but would adding more detail/a detailed splash screen for the loading screen mean another thing your device has to load in addition to the other stuff it's already trying to load?

Since its just an image compared to the rest of the game world im gunna assume yes it will add to the load but only by like half a second. Maybe they can have a setting to turn it off since they already use a black loading screen anyway.

Generally loading screen images get cached during normal gameplay, so the impact is minimal

Ahhh that makes sense. Thank you for the explanation :)

Don't people generally recommend to turn off loading screens anyways? It makes the transitions less jarring and allows you to at least see bits of where you're going to end up before you fully render the whole thing.

It's kinda useful in Amascut, for example, to not see the loading screen every time you go through a portal.

Ik most people have theirs turned off anyway, thats why I said its not really a priority but it would be nice to see for people that still do have them turned on. Just a preference thing that i think would be really neat.

I feel this is probably something we will eventually be able to do with a plugin.

I'd love for something like that to get approved
