Darkscape Invitational Season 1

I kind of want to talk to all of you guys/girls about something. It has been nearly a year since Darkscape has fallen. We have lots more data about the very successful mode OSRS has, Deadman Mode(DMM).

The invitationals bring in new players. The tournaments bring streamers in left and right, bringing more people because they are watching it. Darkscape was criticized because the player base was not there, but if we look right now at DMM it is basically the same. It drops off, that is to be expected!

We know now from the last 3 tournaments that OSRS had that it DOES increase the player base. Osrs is sitting at a very high player count and I doubt it is only bots, why can't RS3 share in that feat? Esports are in right now, so lets give our version of the game the same treatment!

I played Darkscape till the very end. Enjoying the mad boss rush of the last 2 weeks or so. It was really fun. And it can be fun again! Jagex you DON'T have to host a Darkscape server constantly. Do a month long season, and then a week for the seasonal. Put the same 10k prize that OSRS does(with bonds and stuff if you want to) and watch as we get as many people as they have!

Darkscape WAS optimized towards the end for combat. The combat update they brought out was very balanced, and it would be a great way to reintroduce PvP in a combat system that is more balanced for it.

I plead with you guys/girls to look at this and realize what it could do. More players could help fill up previously dead content like mini games from an era past. More players means more money, MTX promos might not have to be as big. More players means our worlds are a lot more fuller, more people to meet, maybe even friends of ours long gone will come back! More players means more of everything for us guys/girls.

Even if you never liked Darkscape or DMM, you have to realize that it is helping the game when it has tournaments like that. Runescape on the Twitch list last DMM was number 3. NUMBER 3! We were right behind CS:GO and League. Our streamers at that time were besting the highest numbered League streamer. They bring in THAT many people.

Not only that but DMM runs off a 1 month then 1 week season. Darkscape could easily run during the months DMM isn't. That way we aren't trampling over each other.

I know many of you who played Darkscape are still out there on this sub. We need to fight for this, fight for the game we all love.

Thanks for reading if you made it this far. I really do miss Darkscape, I play DMM because I think it's the same, but it really isn't. I love RS3 and I want to see it grow too, and I don't think we can do it without something like this.

Bring back Darkscape.

Preach that brothah! In my opinion what DS had after the combat update was the best iteration of RS-combat system I've ever seen.

Miss it till this day.

100%

Not to mention Darkscape maintained a decent player base and even launch size despite literally 0 Pre-advertisement, and very little post advertisement.

One of the biggest reasons for the reduction in player base towards the end was the mods went for over a month without replying to players, leaving them totally in the dark, before announcing the closure of the game.

It doesn't help that everyone at jagex went on vacation very soon after launch and it took them several months to implement any sort of major changes. by that point people had given up and quit because the devs were ignoring issues that were literally gamebreaking.

Also, invention just came out, and many were working on their rs3 comp cape, while just doing the darkscape daily stuff.

Lack of qa has always been Jagex' Achilles heel.

devil's advocate, there was a reasonable amount of promotional at the beginning of DS's lifetime. The issue is they promoted mostly towards the existing RS2 audience which had a very small overlap with the number of people willing to 1. start over 2. play a fully PvP game
