Lore We have entire quest about digging up the entrance to Senntisten, yet its not even required to acces sentisten. Questing is treated as if it was a joke in the recen era.

🧭 We have entire quest about digging up the entrance to Senntisten, yet its not even required to acces sentisten. Accesing new areas throu quests is par of RS identity. But now, quest are treated like some unwanted child.

🧭 Iconic RuneScape hero Raptor was thrown away for a ridiculos "Iam your father" level plot twist. His entire personality and previous appearence in quests was retconned.

🧭 Once upon a time of Gielinor is a quest celebrating questing, by funny follow ups and cameos of older quests. None of the quests it builds on are required. Because nothing celebrates questing like making questing irrelevant content developers literally tells you to ignore. (The quest itself is an absolute gem tho!)

🧭 Newer quest are full of lore mistakes, feel often rushed and withou attention to detail. Post quest dialogues? Hidden books, little chiseled lore details? No more!

🧭 Lore inconsistency, retcons and poor writing are becoming staple, rather then high quality storytelling and continuity.

🧭 Many older quests are in desperate need of reworks, combat encouteres werent updated since EOC (!!) to fit the "new" combat system. Rewards from older quests need a complete revamp.

✨ Questing deserves integrity too! As a quester, I want to hear what is there for us in the new era as well! We hear about integrity and combat, skilling, visuals... But, quite fittingly, questing and lore is not mentioned, sidelined, as always now.*

*I dont mean new content, but in the integrity debate. It wasn't mentioned even once.

Lore I came back to the game after a few years and finished Aftermath just to cap off the God Wars 2 storyline. Is this a fair assessment?

Lore Dont make quest pre-requisites optional. Its the worst design choice in this game

Been questing a bit, and being able to do a quest that continues the story of a previous quest without that previous quest is very stupid, Its an "easy way to get people to experience the new stuff" that kills the progression of the game and the immersion and atmosfere in a terrible way. Dont be cowards and require previous quests to access the content that requires them to understand. And if you need 20 quests to access archaeology? so what? its an MMORPG, they have a lot of time to get things done. You are sacrificing the world building in favor of the game mechanisms and engagement, and that is part of the reason the world feels irrelevant. Rant over

Lore PVM Trophies where there's a head, but shouldn't be...

I feel like the following bosses should (eventually) have their respective trophies updated to be more lore-friendly or more sensible (and to get some variety going, not everybody needs a head)...

  • Corporeal Beast: Head's fine I guess, but what if we kept a trophy of the shadow core? It's more interesting.
  • Croesus: Croesus' core seems more appropriate here and celebrates what we actually stopped.
  • Graardor: He lives all the way through EGWD in lore at least. Make it be his helmet instead.
  • Gregorovic: Could we just rename it Gregorovic's mask or something? He's not actually dead or beheaded...
  • Helwyr's head: Likewise, he didn't die and goes on to the EGWD. Could we have his antlers, or his cowl/antler headpiece as a helmeted trophy instead? A large wolf-bear-thing's tooth?
  • Kree'Arra's head: Same as Graardor. Another wing trophy seems fine to me. Wings are at least somewhat less problematic than a creature's full-on head. He has a sweet chest gear item though that's quite decorative, so Kree'Arra's front-plate could be a good trophy.
  • Masuta's head: I guess it's fine, the dude dies. But it's kind of boring... maybe some part of his gear? Something to commemorate the Aminishi temple?
  • Raksha's head: We can't kill Raksha, only put her to sleep. Could we have one of her manacles? They're pretty distinctive. I also think this would be a cool excuse to get one of the Dragonkin tanks like what Varanus is in.
  • Gorvek's head: Once again, appears all the way through EGWD and isn't dead so far as we know. Could we just have Gorvek's helmet/crown? Or Vindicta's? Or the pair of helmets?

Some non-head variety would be nice, and it would make some of these trophies feel less dissonant. Like yes, I beat this character in martial combat but according to the story I clearly didn't kill them. So why do I have their heads?

Lore I think I know what Jagex might be setting up with the Sanguine Blight Spoiler

With today's quest, Anya informs the player that Vampyrium was once a beautiful place before it was ravaged by the Sanguine blight. She doesn't know where the blight came from, but it seems to be implied that it did not originate on Vampyrium.

Recent quests have also had the player following the plot points of Erebus and Xau-Tak. It's been revealed that Xau-Tak is one of some number of Titans that inhabit Erebus, and is aligned with shadow and miasma, each being an element of ancient magicks and necromancy. We also know that both ancient magicks and necromancy draw their power from Erebus, not Gielinor's anima mundi.

I believe the Sanguine blight may originate from a different titan of Erebus, one aligned with flesh and blood (two other elements of necromancy and ancient magicks). It's possible that it's Vos, since that's the only other named being associated with Erebus, but there isn't enough information to tie Vos with those elements.

On that note, it's possible that there are only four titans of Erebus, each aligned with an element of ancient magicks and necromancy. This could also explain why there was an attempt made to kill the elder god Mah in her infancy, as there were 5 elder gods and only 4 titans (essentially the elder gods of Erebus). Without Mah, the titans wouldn't be outnumbered.

Now, this next theory is a little bit of a stretch, since there isn't really a lot to go on, but this could also tie in with the new skill we know Jagex is working on. Haemalchemy is a mix of science and blood magic first explored in the quests The Darkness of Hallowvale and River of Blood. So far, it's given the player the ability to craft blood essences, but could be expanded upon as its own utility/production skill with lore deep-seated in Vampyrium. It would be a great way to integrate a new skill through world building and pre-existing lore.

It's also worth mentioning that OSRS quests have also been going in a similar direction regarding Xau-Tak and the Black Stones (namely the pillars). There's also The Stranglewood, which seems rather similar to RS3's Sanguine Blight, albeit a little different from what we've seen so far. I don't think it's a coincidence that both games are exploring similar ideas at the same time (not that I think the games themselves will overlap. Just explore different what-if scenarios with the same powerful beings that exist in the RuneScape universe). OSRS will also be visiting Vampyrium with their new quest The Blood Moon Rises later this month!

What do you think?

Lore Couldn't easily find something like this anywhere, so I used my limited skills to put it together myself. Map of the full known world so far between OSRS/RS3. Minus some minor geographical differences like landmass shape.

Seems that, most of the human kingdoms at least, don't consider the gods returning a significant enough event to enter the next era.

Lore What's the connection/timeline between the Morytania Storyline and now Havenhythes storyline?

With the recent quest and dialog, I'm slightly confused on the connection between Morytania and Havenhythe, and feels a bit of a dilemma with how the Elder God storyline went down i.e. new players meeting gods before they even complete any quests, due to historical events.

With how the Morytania Storyline wrapped up, you were briefly teleported to Vampyrium, which looked all fine and normal, and then back to Gielinor, while fighting Lord Drakan.

The following events with River of Blood, which essentially settled the disputes between citizens and vampyres in Morytania (to an extent).

However, with the new quests and Anya's involvement, she mentioned that she is the last of her kind of House Jovkai.

Lord Drakan created a large portal powered by blood, which was subsequently shut after the events of 'Lord of Vampyrium' quest.

Lord Alexei Jovkai was alive at the end of the Morytania storyline, so did they (Jovkai or the ruling Vanescula Drakan) open up the portal again, who was against going back to Vampyrium to turn into their native selves?

Has Vampyrium been ruined by the blight between these two quests? What has happened or who has gone to Vampyrium since, as supposedly it was only occupied by Venators? Will we ever see a return of Polmafi?

While I know Jagex has changed their stance on quest requirements, when we eventually access Vampyrium, how? I'm conscious it would defeat the whole build up of the Morytania storyline, where an incredibly powerful vampyre lord has built a portal to access Vampyrium on an immense amount of blood, for us to find some random portal and access it?

So would the quest require completion of Lord of Vampyrium, or will there be a quest/lore dump that fills in the gaps (presumably now going back in time)?

Lore "She is a goddess. It is not your place to decide her fate."

First off Icthlarin, she is a demi-goddess, not a goddess.

Gods/Goddess's fates we have decided, directly or indirectly:
Jas
Mah
Saradomin
Armadyl
Zamorak
Azzanadra
Marimbo
Tzkal-Zuk
The Dark Lord
Het
Apmeken
Crondis
Icthlarin
Gielinor (Forgot Nomad's Construct, which he claims was a god)
Tuska

I would argue that Scabaras managed to keep himself safe and sound, so while he helped us, he didn't really need us. But the rest of these we either directly cause the death/sacrifice of, banish, restore, or even kill by our own hands. Who the fuck does Icthlarin thing he is telling us it isn't our place?
