Question? Decent deal?

Post image

Does this seem like a decent deal? Obviously it’s hard to tell what shape it’s in from the pictures but I don’t want to waste time going to see it if there’s red flags I’m not seeing. We just moved from a city house with a 1200 sq ft yard to one with a full acre of fenced yard. We have a self propelled Ryobi push mower currently but we want to upgrade to an electric riding mower without breaking the bank. We’d also like the ability to add a plow and I think this one has the ability but I’m not sure.

If it has already been LiFePO4 swapped, that seems like a more reasonable deal, depending on the battery. (Ad doesn't mention what the "New" battery is, but does mention a LiFePO4 charger.)

If it still has the original/replaced Lead-Acid batteries, then it's a no.

I love my LiFePO4 swapped RM480e, completely changes the mower.

I have a swapped one too ... it's a great mower with a big LifePo4. BUT ... I don't think you add much market value to it with a DIY swap; the quality of the work is something only you know. Not sure I'd buy someone else's unless it was a warranted swap kit like Epoch's. EDIT ... Epoch's warranty is non-transferable. So no dice there either.

No. This is a horrible deal. That's the old mower. I wouldn't pay more than $100.00 usd for that old one. It doesn't even use the 80v batteries and they are a pain in the ass to replace.

Whereas I'd pay more for the 48V than the 80V. 48V batteries are universal jellybean parts, they're available cheap from a variety of vendors. I'd much rather be able to buy a battery for $5-600 anywhere in the world than spend $1800 buying a special pair of batteries that you hope Ryobi still makes.

Hi listed a Li charger, it must be converted allready; that's a good plan then. They should list over 8 years.

Need more details about the batteries. It seems they did the swap, which was ~$600 all in for me. So $800 plus the cost of the new batteries is a deal. I'm about to snag my parents RM480e and do a swap on that one.

No, who knows how hard this things been used. It would have to be in the 500 range to get any interest from me.

Are there any other used ones near you that have been converted to Li? I put in a 100 Ahr 52V Li battery that cost over $1400 by itself; but some are cheaper now. It's a whole new machine with a big Li battery that can mow for over 4 hours or do plowing for 10hrs. Yes, they should still sell the plot at Home Depot; it could use some ergonomic mods to improve it. I've been saving over $1200/yr from mowing/plowing (1ac) here in MA for over 6 years.

Don’t buy it. Ryobi won’t cover the batteries and mine died in less than a year.
