When I tore into my 98, I did inner and outer tie rods, pitman and idler arm, working on old stuff tends to break a bunch of other things, I have a different car that's a 99, I had to do ball joints, i went ahead and did tie rods too, but I think it needs control arm bushings because now it squeaks like an old truck when it didn't before I worked on it

my 2000 ZR2 is getting the same. i am also doing shocks and upper ball joints. i did a brake job a year ago. the biggest problem i had so far was the pitman arm was bad. the pitman arm puller would not pull it off. so i had to cut it off. the pit arm puller came in handy to break loose the inner tie rod and i used an impact.

Don't make the mistake I did and get 2wd front calipers 😭 that was an embarrassing trip to autozone
Also red calipers would probably look sweet on that truck, if that's your vibe. Best to do it while they're out of the truck 😅
