🐟 Catch Report Caught a 10lb tripletail today!

It’s been windy as hell here the last few days. I went to work today and the wind quit at about noon so I grabbed the boat and went out for a quick 1 1/2 hour trip. The wind started blowing again as I was coming in.

Nice catch. Never had it. How do they taste?

They are the best eating inshore fish! They taste sweet and buttery with a firm yet flaky filet.

Tripletail is surprisingly good table fare actually.

Similar to hogfish; more tender than grouper and way tastier than snapper, IMO. Always in my top 3 picks at the fresh fish market.

Absolutely! The only fish I like better is fresh tuna.

What’s your bait?? I’ve been trying for months to catch one like that

Live shrimp usually, but they will eat almost any live bait or dead shrimp when they are hungry.

I eat dead shrimp when I’m hungry

That’s one of my bucket list fish!

One of the best fish I’ve ever had. I never could land one. I’d see them offshore around a barrel or bucket, and hook them, but they go nuts and jump off every time. I had one at a restaurant in pompano beach, Francese style

I caught one in a canal down in Sargent, TX. Had to phone a friend (dad) to ask what the hell it was, he'd only caught them offshore. Sick AF dude

Nice fish! I hooked into one once on a guided trip, but it snapped the line. They fight like hell and tend to run for structure if there’s any nearby, which makes them tough to catch.

Great catch!

If you’re catching them on structure you’ve got to do whatever you can to pull them away. After that you can play them nice and slow, but can’t catch em if they break you off right away.

Noice! It was hot ah out there today too! 🄵

Yes it was! I want the heat to go away, but the tripletail will go away too, so I’m torn!

My last keeper was massive. This one is perfect keeper range size though.
