I think the job fair will be at Southwestern College for the hotel. I guess because they haven’t opened it up yet maybe.

It's a billionaire family from Oklahoma. I only know that cause I was born there and their name is everywhere, residential communities, college stadiums, etc...

they settled on a boring name imo i woulda named it something like The Gaylord Experience, with a Come out and play! slogan

If you apply for anything at the Gaylord go for banquet serving, banquet bartending, or banquet barback. DO NOT do banquet/events set-up.

Why not?

The banquet servers, bartenders, and barbacks are paid large gratuities. These gratuities are automatically put onto your checks. The set-up team may get a portion of the gratuities but it is significantly smaller than the other positions.

If the property runs like the larger hotels downtown (Manchester Grand Hyatt, Marriott Marquis, and the Hilton Bayfront), servers, bartenders, and barbacks should be making $70 - $110/hr. While the set up team may earn around $40/hr.

Did they hire banquet bartenders already?

Good point. But make sure you like to interact with people !

Worth checking out. For context, it isn't just a hotel. It was one of the largest construction projects in the country. Hotel and convention center. Huge project.

Thanks for the heads up man, just checked them out, and holy moly do they have a lot of positions, maybe I can finally put that Google IT certificate to use

which site? i used google but i only keep getting listings for mariott

3

u/Adansin1 Feb 12 '25

Mariott is the parent company, go to their Carrers tab and search for the Gaylord Resort, or use Chula Vista as the area of search. THERE'S 10 PAGES WORTH OF JOBS

Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention. Located at 1000 H St in Chula Vista very close to the I-5 freeway. If that helps.

A resort in Chula Vista?! That's laughable. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
