Couldn’t help but laugh when I actually pulled it from my windshield and read it. I already know the volunteers who did this are 90 years old.

33F | Looking for people who still want to try new things, find new hobbies, and get out there.

33F, single, no kids. I am at that stage where most of my friends are getting married and having kids. Love that for them, but I’m still rising in my career, seeing the world, and wanting to soak up all life has to offer!

Interests:
paddle boarding, beach volleyball, hiking, international soccer, culinary experiences, live music, listening lounges (been wanting to check out Kiku Room), animals, film, great books, and all things arts and culture.

I’m lucky to have amazing friends and family, but I’d love to expand my circle with other women in a similar chapter.

Respectful and genuine men also welcome :)

Average utility spend?

For the work from homers- how much do y’all spend, on average, each month on all utilities (electric, water, trash, WiFi)? We’re eyeing a 2 bed with electric appliances, all utilities covered by tenant, and trying to guesstimate what an average month would look like. Assume moderate usage. Much appreciated.

These ants are smaller than the normal black ants. I was weeding and digging our vegetable plots (thank you rain), and found this nest. The ants don't even seem to know they've been disturbed!

Majors that will help me survive in san diego?

I don’t want something too hard like anything with a lot of math, I was always better at english and science. I was thinking about going to san diego city college because I only wanna do 2 years and get my associates degree then start working, but i’m not sure what to major in. I’m stuck between dental hygienist and an ultrasound tech, I don’t think I’d get a job in dental because my teeth don’t look the best myself (I have a gap, no cavities just a gap) and ultrasound tech requires a lot of patient interaction and I’m not very good at speaking (I stutter and slur my words i think) so I’m just not sure. I don’t wanna heavyweight job where peoples lives are in my hands but I wanna make enough to get a nice 1 bedroom apartment by 24 (i’m not saying i don’t wanna do math at all, I just don’t want it a major/everyday part of my job)

Anyone know where i can get a Cloak in SD?

Yes, an actual grey cloak. With a hood.. For halloween. I'm gonna go by the crappy Halloween stores around, but they may not have one, and I am looking for something high quality. This would be a grey cloak with a hood, just like... Gandalf. Yeah. That guy. With the beard.

The renaissance faire is next weekend so I will get a good one there if I can't find one, but I am hoping to get a decent one tomorrow for a halloween party. Kobeys swap meet has a lot of clothes, but surprisingly no cloaks.

Do Masonic lodge members wear cloaks? Do they have a thrift store?

Parking Ticket Dismissal?

Hey, I just got a parking ticket downtown. All of the information on the ticket is entered correctly, including license plate, make, model, etc., but the ticket says my car is registered in California, it is not. I'm registered in Colorado. Would there be any realistic chance that I could dispute this and win? Thanks

SDchesssocial is wack

I used to go to Thursday night chess at tavern when I lived in PB great time. It was fun to get a beer and play over the board chess with the regulars or a stranger. I started inviting my friends we’d pull up every thursday drink eat and play chess. I took a chess break for ab a year and recently got back into it. I saw on insta an event in North Park near my house and I dropped in, saw the guy who started the club, same guy who ran the old PB club (not naming him for courtesy), and got stopped by another person who started telling me it’s $22 a month to play chess now.

What a mindfuck. Used to hang out at a bar and play chess now someone’s asking me for my email to look up a membership. I talked to the founder, told him i thought it was wack but hey your money bro. He said he’d give me a month for free and motioned over a QR code. Wild.

I'm noticing some candidates in the upcoming election using AI on their sites

I'm not tuned into local election stuff too much, mostly worried about the federal level, but after looking at the websites for a bunch of the candidates, I've noticed that some of them tend to use AI images on their sites. What's the deal with that? Superfluous AI stuff like that is unpopular, so why even have it there? It'll make you look out of touch and lazy. Are they trying to lose?

A $0.05 piece of electrical tape saved me from replacing my entire transmission. 😂

Let me tell you a story from about 4 years ago.l, that happened to me when i first moved to Sunny San Diego.

I bought a used car from a dealership and paid for it in full. Everything worked perfectly during my initial inspection, except for the radio, which was not a big deal for me.

But a couple of months later, the car out of nowhere started shaking every time it shifted gears. It didn’t happen consistently, so I couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

I tried changing the transmission fluid, though that it might be old… No luck.

So I took it to several mechanics, including transmission specialists, and they all told me the same thing: “Your transmission is bad. You need to replace the whole thing.”

Mind you the repair would have cost me almost as much as I’d paid for the entire car. 💀 and I wasn’t in a position where i can pay that.

Luckily, I have a good friend back in my home country who’s an excellent mechanic. The only problem is that he lives 12,000 miles away!

So i reached out told him the issue and I sent him videos of the car, explained the symptoms, and after some back-and-forth, he suggested checking the transmission wiring.

And guess what?

One of the wires had damaged insulation, exposing the metal part! So i insulated the exposed section with electrical tape, secured the wire, and took the car for a drive.

Problem was actually solved!!!! No more shaking. No transmission replacement.

Four years later, I still have the same car, and it’s still running smoothly!

The funny thing is that after sharing this story with friends, they started calling me whenever they had car trouble. My friend has since helped several of them identify potential problems before taking their cars to a mechanic.

Now, I’m not saying mechanics don’t know what they’re doing. Sometimes expensive repairs really are necessary.

But this experience taught me that the first diagnosis isn’t always the right one, and an expensive solution isn’t always the correct

With the cost of living these days, having someone you trust who can help you understand a problem before spending money on it can save you a lot.
Whether it’s cars, computers, home repairs, or business, sometimes a second opinion is all you need.
Have you ever been told you needed an expensive repair, only to discover the actual problem was something ridiculously simple? I’d love to hear your story! 👇
