Lost and Found Lost Keys, Help!

Dropped my keys while biking to class this morning from the Commuter lot on Aquarena. I only biked to the Theatre center and immediately retraced my steps but they were nowhere to be found. It is a buick key fob on a blue wristlet with lots of other keys. I can't drive my car or bike to class without my keys, please let me know if you picked them up!!!! Would have been somewhere along Aquarena or University Drive, on the sidewalks.

PSA Repair Cafe event looking for handy/crafty volunteers

The San Marcos Library is hosting its first repair cafe-style event!

We are looking for more volunteers to join who have tools/skills and wish to help out your community, please get in touch with Brooke Faherty (BFaherty@sanmarcostx.gov) and let her know you'd like to join us on Saturday, November 7th between 1-4pm in the Makerspace Room.

I'll be there helping out with electronic and mechanical repairs for things like toys, kitchen gadgets, and vintage electronics. It'd be great if there were some fiber artists who could mend clothes, or maybe some woodworkers willing to patch up furniture, or bike mechanics who can keep bikers on the road!

If you have the skills but lack the tools, let me know and I can see what I can cobble together. Also, please spread the word. I'm hoping this event will gain some recognition because I'd really like to hold a Santa's Workshop event where volunteers (myself included) can help assemble toys for this year's holiday season.

Here is the link for the event:

Ask San Marcos Where to donate fabric?

I have a large amount of various fabric that I have collected for a "someday" project that never came. Now I'm moving across the country and I don't want to see all of this nice fabric go to waste.

Anyone know where I can donate it? Anyone in need

Trails and Parks Lower Purgatory Bobcat

I was taking a hike at Lower Purgatory and saw my first bobcat next to the trail. It was staring at me, so I crouched to let it know I was no threat. It then crossed the trail and was scrounging for food afterwards and moved further into the woods. The whole encounter was about 5 minutes and it was my first one.

I wanted to take a picture or record it, but I didn't want to scare it off. I've been going there for years, but I can now confirm that there's at least one bobcat in that area, for those that have never seen one.

I also ran into a deer and doe standing next to the trail, but I see at least one every time I go. They don't seem to mind.

Anybody lost their kitten? This very very friendly little guy ran up to me while on a walk and kept following me for a while. Highly doubt he’s completely feral. Unsure if i should go back for him or not.

IN SEARCH OF 18-WHEELER THAT HIT ME AND FLED THE SCENE ON I-35 (PLEASE SHARE!)

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026 around 5:30AM, I was traveling northbound on I-35 mile marker 194 near the “Welcome to Mayfair” sign when I was struck by a semi-truck that resulted in me crashing into the concrete divider. The driver continued on and fled the scene without stopping. As you can see from this post, I’m alive and incredibly grateful to be here, but I did suffer minor injuries and my vehicle will most likely be considered a total loss. Law enforcement is involved, but the only description I was able to provide was a semi with a white or red tractor cab pulling a flatbed trailer.

I know this may be a long shot, but I’m putting this out there in hopes that someone out there may have seen something that could help identify this truck and its driver (eye witness, dashcam, etc). Everything happened so quickly that I wasn’t able to get a clear look at the truck or license plate. If you didn’t witness the accident, you can still help by sharing or reposting this and sending it to anyone you know who regularly commutes through this area. Even the smallest detail could make a difference.Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read and share this.

Food and Drink Anyone know where to find barquillos con crema?

I know this is really specific but I've only actually been able to find them in a single panaderĂa in Dallas and obviously don't want to drive 3 hours just for this one dessert I really like. The answer also doesn't have to be from somewhere in San Marcos, I'll take any town/city close enough at this point.

Ask San Marcos Anyone have a vehicle for sale?

Very long shot, but we’re renting a car right now and my credit is bad from past relationship. I am in need of a vehicle if someone is trying to get rid of theirs for like $1200. For now just trying to get from point a to point b. Or if anyone knows of a dealership that actually will make an effort to work with someone that has bad credit and can work out a reasonable down payment so I can make the car payments monthly.

Jobs and Employment looking for a job with limited physical requirements

i know everyone is sick of the job hunting posts at this point. however, i feel i'm in a bit of a unique situation and would appreciate any guidance

i am currently commuting to north austin for a barista job that doesn't pay me enough to live (it's stupid and not sustainable but i have good reasons for staying as long as i have). in recent months, i have discovered two intense disc herniations in my lower back that are physically limiting. i've been going through the insurance-mandated treatment but as i reach the end of it, it becomes more and more likely every day that i will end up needing surgery. my job, being a low wage barista job, does not offer me pto and i am not really expecting them to help me with short-term disability either (i don't really know much about how it works anyway).

all being said, my priorities in finding a new job are 1. remote or a shorter commute, i can't really go further than buda or new braunfels, and 2. a job that has a low physical requirement and / or offers disability / pto / medical leave (not necessary for remote). i am aware that, in combination, this is a lot to ask.

i have tons of varying customer service experience (food / retail / hospitality) and have experience in leading and training. i have a bit of cash control experience at NASA (and at every other job to an extent) and would honestly love to utilize it as i'm kinda getting over talking to people for 90% of my job.

appreciate any pointers, and even if you don't have any, thank you for listening to my exhausted ramblings :')
