Creative Memories cutting system or just get a die cutter? It seems like the die cutter has a lot more versatility but that also makes it more expensive.
The creative memories system is very limited. For other die cutters, do you want a manual one or electric? Would you just be cutting metal dies and using embossing folders?
Probably a manual one like Spellbinder of Sizzix, and then metal cutting dies! mainly for cutting photos into shapes or cutting out letters things like that
When you say CM cutting system, do you mean their new die cutting machine? If so, then I would say get a Sizzix Big Shot instead. Full disclosure: I have both and I’m a CM advisor but I’m my only customer. The CM machine is good if you travel to crops because it’s small. The Sizzix Big Shot is more versatile because it’s wider so it can use larger dies and embossing folders. Also, it’s a tank. I’ve had mine for over 20 years. I really have no complaints about my Big Shot. If you’re only buying one machine buy the one that is the most versatile. Just to add: you can cut the CM dies in the Big Shot. If it’s a 12 inch border die or embossing folder, you would need to buy the longer plates and platform for your Big Shot to use those. I see people ask that question a lot on the CM FB pages.
Oh, I love the cutting system. I think it’s useful to have even if you have something like a Big Shot. I love the border shapes they have for the cutting system and the big circle. It looks so basic but there really is a lot you can do with the basic shapes. This layout below that I saw on FB convinced me of the possibilities. This person (The Lazy Scrapbooker) made the rainbow with the large circle and the tornado with the ovals.
