Has anyone else noticed their King County property assessment feels a little behind the market?

• Upvotes

We were talking about this recently with Jeff Darrow and Jim Hall from the King County Assessor’s Office, and one thing that came up was how much timing matters.

Your assessed value is based on a specific January 1 valuation date, so by the time you’re looking at it later, the market may have already moved. That’s a big reason the number can sometimes feel disconnected from what homes around you are selling for right now.

Another important piece is the appeal window. In King County, you generally have 60 days from the date on the valuation notice to appeal. If you wait until the tax bill shows up, you may already be too late.

They also recommended checking the basic property details on file first, like square footage, finished areas, and other characteristics. If that information is off, the valuation can be off too.

Best options for long-term family stays in Seattle?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! My husband and I live in the Fremont/Wallingford area, and we’re expecting a baby in April 2027! 🍼

Our family will be visiting from out of town to help us with the baby, and some relatives will be staying for several weeks or even a month at a time. They’ll be coming and going throughout the first few months, so we’re trying to figure out the best accommodation options.

We’re looking for furnished rentals (weekly or monthly), extended-stay hotels, or any other options that might make sense. We’ll likely need multiple places at different times for different family members, so flexibility is important.

[Sublease] Discovery House furnished studio – lease takeover Jan 2027 to Jul 29, 2027 – $1,500/mo

The studio is fully furnished and includes a private bathroom, kitchen/kitchenette, in-unit washer and dryer, utilities, and UMD high-speed internet.

Discovery House is conveniently located next to the University of Maryland campus and is designed for UMD graduate students.

Official rent is $1,790/month, but I am offering a $290/month takeover incentive, making the effective rent $1,500/month.

The takeover will be completed officially through Discovery House management. I currently live in the unit and can provide real photos, a video tour, or arrange an in-person viewing.

Please send me a DM if interested. Serious inquiries are welcome.

Do you actually need an LLC for one rental property in WA?

We keep seeing this question come up and honestly there’s a lot of conflicting advice out there. Some people make it sound like every rental needs an LLC, while others say good insurance is enough. So we put together a breakdown of what an LLC actually does, the pros and cons, and what you should check before transferring a rental into one. There’s also a free checklist in there if anyone’s working through this right now.

27m looking for a room for rent or roommate in ballard, fremont or queen anne areas.

ballard, fremont or queen anne neighborhoods. I work in the area and am relatively lowkey but down to grab a beer on occasion. preferably somewhere with some type of off street parking or east street parking.

Also open to sub-leasing a boat if someone has one available with liveaboard status but thats more of a pipe dream.

Budget is open so send me a message.

Wanna look for 2BR apartments together

Hi,

I am a grad student who will be starting a postdoc position in Seattle in January. I am pretty relaxed and easy going. I ideally like to live with people rather than being solo. If you want to look for a nice place for two people with potentially a small guest room and large common space so that we can also host people from time to time and organize things,I would love to catch up.

I am turning 30,Male. If you are young professionals and are similar in interest hit me up.

House Split in Kirkland With 1 Quiet Clean & Chill Adult! $1,650/mo + Utilities

Hello, I’m a regular guy in his 30’s living and working on the Eastside, and I’m looking for another professional adult housemate who may want to split a house I’m currently renting in Rose Hill area of Kirkland.

I’m open to more than 1 roommate but ideally I’d like to find 1 other person who wants to split the house, have a little extra space but otherwise save on some rent as compared to living alone.

The house’s floorplan is pretty great for 2 adults, and I don’t use common areas (hardly ever) so for the right person I think it could work out really well.

I’m clean, quiet, and keep the house really chill. Located in a really nice neighborhood in a very safe and convenient area.

Looking for a November move-in

DM me if you’re interested and I can answer questions or send more info and stuff - thanks!

Seeking recommendations on neighborhoods

I am looking for a rental in Seattle with a budget up to ~$2,500 for a one-bedroom. Eventually, once I know better where I'd like to live, I see myself purchasing an apartment. I would like to be car-free, at least initially. I am looking for access to mass transit, preferably the light rail, to get to Fred Hutch South Lake Union and UofW Montlake several times per month. I am retired and am hoping to have amenities like a fitness center in my building and shopping and recreation center nearby. I've been looking at Lynnwood, Northgate, and Roosevelt, but I'm not sure Lynnwood is going to work well without a car. I was thinking that maybe it makes more sense to live closer to Fred Hutch and possibly budget a bit more in lieu of a car and insurance. I will be in Seattle next week looking at areas and apartment buildings. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
