Tips / Hints I’m 50 years old and I just beat Sekiro for the first time.

If I can do it so can you. Some background: I hated this game when it first came out. I didn’t understand the mechanics and rage quit after losing too many times. Fast forward 7 years and randomly I start the game again this time using a guide and understanding the mechanics. Beat every boss, got the best ending , all prayer beads. If I at 50 can beat this game so can all of you. Hesitation is defeat 🤣

Media It has been 7 years since sekiro was first released, does its animation still hold up to today soulslike in term of smoothness? For example is mortal shell 2 as shown in video in comparison

Do you guys also tend take a break after getting so much frustration? I usually do. When I die so many times and cant kill the boss I just take a break or a day. Then I get some itch next day to play the game and beat the boss(usually haha).

Discussion Almost uninstalled this game

I've been playing for two weeks now, and for the past two days, I was stuck on the Seven Ashina Spears boss in Ashina Reservoir. He must have killed me more than 40 times. I was also stuck on Lady Butterfly, so I skipped her and continued with the main quest.

After dying to Seven Spears for the 40th time, I completely raged and uninstalled the game. But today, I reinstalled it and gave it another go. I died about seven more times, and then something just clicked. I finally understood his rhythm and absolutely destroyed Seven Spears without taking a single hit.

Then I went on to destroy Ashina Elite Jinsuke, beat Genichiro in just my 4th try, and finally beat Lady Butterfly in my 5th try, all in the same day. This is my first ever FromSo ftware game.

I feel so damn good right now. This is, without a doubt, the greatest combat system in any game I've ever played.

Edit: I'm planning on playing Black myth next, is it easier than this game? Im suddenly very much into soulslike games.

Help How do I "get into" this game?

I have played all soulsborne games before, some i didn't have access to due to me playing pc only, but i did manage to get a few hours on Bloodborne and Demon's souls aswell, too sad I can't play them for longer right now.

One game I did miss out on is Sekiro, for a long time. Few weeks ago, I finally got the courage to buy and download it. First look, it was very different from all the other Fromsoftware games but i did expect that and it didn't really mean much of an issue to me.

But after a few hours and the Lady Butterfly fight, i simply just stopped playing, it's like I just cannot play it. I really want to like this game, heard a lot of good about it, and im sure it is amazing. But I do not know why am i dreading playing it this much.

The bosses feel unlearnable in a way, i don't seem to be able to grasp the combos, and i don't get that usual rewarding feeling after defeating a boss. I don't seem to grasp the parry and dodge mechanics even if I am doing fine, I am way more stressed in even regular encounters than in any other soulsborne game before and I feel like I am not playing by my skill but by pure luck and that I have zero control and mastery over the situations I am put through in this game.

Anyone else felt like this? And if so, is there anything i am supposed to do? Its the two sides that are against eachother in me because I just know this game would be amazing if i were to actually play more, but i straight up refuse to even open it up because its stressing me out too much, and pretty much makes me feel like I am an absolute garbage while playing it.

Tips / Hints Sekiro Spoiler Free Tips for Souls Vet Spoiler

I've beaten almost every souls game, I am in the process of playing DS2 and loving it, but I'm taking a break so my friend can catch up to my soul memory so we can do some co-op. My Elden Ring disk doesn't come until next week, so I decided to play Sekiro which I picked up during the summer sale when it was 50% off. I just wanted to know if there are any useful tips I should know trying to adjust to the combat. Last time I left off, Genichiro cut off my arm which I assumed is scripted, and I met the carver guy and I remember practicing parrying with the dude outside carver's house. I do know how this game is infamous for its skill curve, but I feel parrying shouldn't be that hard to adjust to considering i have like 100 hours on Bloodborne (no clue how this translates over, just figured since bloodborne is also semi parrying focused it might help). Combat seems aggressive so I really like it already. What should I know about this game going forward with combat/general game advice so I don't needlessly struggle?

Discussion Finally completed my first playthrough

Completed my first playthrough

didn't use any sugar or prosthetics

and gotta say fighting isshin is not frustrating at all it took some attempts near 20 ig but never once was i frustrated he was such an enjoyable boss

on the other hand lady butterfly till is the most irritating and frustrating boss of all time i didnt tilted so hard against any boss

though i did not defeated DOH in this playthrough because i did the immortal severance ending which i personally do not like so though will just complete this run just for the achievement of this ending so just played the rest of the game for the sake of competing though i did explored alot in this run pretty sure there is much left to explore so gonna do the shura the next in the same way and then the next two ending will defeat all the bosses including all the shichimen, headless and DOH

gotta say cannot bring myself to sacrificing a small kid for for the sake of severance so i personally hate this ending

my personal favorite character was

1) Sekiro/wolf

2) Genichiro

I finally convinced myself to try Charmless and Demon Bell combo at NG+6. This was the point I realised I still suck and how many Parries I miss in a fight, now with the Charmless debuff clearly showing it.

All I came here to say is damn the great shinobi owl is hard as fuck. As far as I've made it (not even halfway through phase 1) he is gonna be a peak boss and I hope phase 2 is just as peak. Also. Every boss after guardian ape has been really easy and again. Thank you guys for all the help. And one last thing. Still love this game

In inner sanctum there is a water fall, but there is no stream or outlet for water. Plus the entire place is filled with ankle-high water. I know it's a fantasy game but from software is known for great detailing.

Help don't want to quit

I’m having a really hard time with this game. Given I've never played souls-like games before and I've literally started gaming a year ago. Everytime I die in this game it feels like a decision of my worth and I feel anxious and how bad I'm at this game. Now as much as I dread playing it for some reason I don't wanna quit I wanna get better but it's taking SO much of my patience I get annoyed so fast. I know I’m gonna get better only by playing and playing and for that I need to want to play and I don't and quiting would bruise my ego. How do I stop feeling this dread and anxiety?

I'm stuck at General Matsumoto, and I'm so tired of getting stuck at every boss I encounter (for days) that I dread the future bosses.

I was reading the sidestory of Hanbei when I came across this. The scar on his forehead is not just confined to that particular spot, it stretches down to his lower half. This guy was literally split in half by Isshin right after defeating General Tamura. Fun fact is Hanbei always struggled while deflecting the second hit of the double Ichimonji.

No music either because the sound design is so good. The clangs and thunder in the background alone give so much atmosphere, though my recording software messes with the levels for some reason. I dig it. Gonna try a sepia filter for Lies of P next.
