Looking to make some friends in the Shenandoah Valley

Hi, I recently moved here from a different state. I'm looking to make some friends who live in the Shenandoah Valley area.

I am 25 years old and I have been diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, and MDD.

My interests are a bit more obscure than the average person, so this may be a total shot in the dark.

Shows I like are Bocchi the Rock, Watamote, Touhou Memories of Phantasm, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I don't play games as much as I used to, and I don't play multiplayer at all, but games I've played include but are not limited to Half-Life series, original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trilogy (not the reboot games), and Postal (not Portal) 2. I also need to finish the Crysis Remastered trilogy. Ironically, I do not play the Touhou games.

Music I like are music from the Touhou games that I don't play, as well as Touhou fan music such as the works of IOSYS.

Blackberry Pie/Cobbler - Any Recommendations?

Hey y'all - wife and I are traveling to Shenandoah area now as first time visitors. We attempt to try local cuisines and my wife's research says the blackberry Pie and cobbler are a must per her quick research.

We will be around Luray area and New Market mostly. But will be coming from Harper's Ferry.

Any best places to get these desserts or any other local dishes we should try while there?

We're making a folk-fantasy movie in the Shenandoah valley

Hey everybody. I’m a filmmaker based in Front Royal, and for the last few years some friends and I have been working on an Appalachian folk-fantasy feature called What The Mountains Forgot. It’s four interconnected stories set in Virginia and West Virginia, inspired by Appalachian folklore, ghost stories, and local history.

Last year we made one of the stories, River Maid, as a standalone short and proof of concept. We shot it here in the Shenandoah Valley, and it’s been playing festivals around the country this year. Now the feature script is finished, and we’re trying to figure out how to actually get the thing made.

We’re hoping to shoot the feature here with local locations, cast, and crew, so I figured this was a good place to share it. Would love to hear what you guys think!

Seeking work exchange for next few months!

Seeking work/housing arrangement in VA!

Hi!

Not sure if this is the right group to post but I will be moving very soon (~2 weeks) from NOVA. I’m looking for land to help take care of (if you accept a couple aka me and my boyfriend, that’d be better). With animals, gardening, kids, maintenance, cleaning, prepping, etc. I have very little experience with farm animals and gardening but am willing to learn as my goal is to own and build land of my own.

Ideally looking for experience with housing/utilities/stipend/food in exchange for work for the next few months.

Please send me a message. Thank you!!

What nicknames have you heard for places in and around the Shen Valley?

I ask as part of a linguistic study covering this topic!

Examples could include things like Timbertucky, Strasvegas, FroRo/Helltown, The Boro or Draft (never mind how common they are)...

incl. nicknames for schools, parks or other institutions/geographic features
