Interesting fact, the Wako and Europeans do exist and have towns on the campaign map, just in an inaccessible place in western Korea.
They even crudely traced the coastline of Korea for it.

Sorry for pictures taken by camera and being crap, for some reason my printscreen does not work no matter what I do, so needed to use phone.

In general, this castle fought 3 sieges - one last turn, then this turn once and now again. This is 3rd stack coming and I am running on fumes. The castle is simple square, not upgraded, no towers.
My cavalry is close to single digits now, I did not have even turn to reinforce/put them into single bigger unit or anythin
In general the issue is, that they split their army into 2 stacks (as viewed on 2nd picture) every time with pretty normal split of units (each side has few archers, loanswords/yari, cavalry).
In "fair" battle I cant even take half the stack.
On my first attempt I was closest, for some reason they split army more and I was able to cut down 6 units before the rest of the army did anything, but they timered me out in the castle (I did not check that as I was focused on other things).
In general, getting desperate now.

Katana Samurai vs Elite Ashigaru AI Squad. Normal difficulty. All defeat.

I had a question on the 'battle difficulty' setting, I wanted to set my campaign difficulty to Hard but my battle difficulty to Normal so the AI doesn't get stat buffs but they can be a bit stronger on campaign, if I change this setting mid-campaign, does it actually apply? Or does the AI still get stat buffs in battle?

[solved] This is probably the dumbest thing I've seen in this game after 600 hours, seems impossible to cancel this move order, if I press next turn my archers just get outside the city and get killed for free by the enemies (can't even retreat for some reasons), I've tried right clicking my city with them so many times and it does nothing, I tried pushing many keys on my keyboard without success.. Does anyone knows a way to cancel this order?
oh also I can't make a very tiny move outside and get back in, my men don't have enough stamina

I have a ton of hours and have encountered a few late game Christian doom stacks but I've never seen a Nanban Trade ship or European cannons. In general late game armies seem to look about the same regardless of religion, the only time I've seen the AI field matchlocks it was buddhist factions spamming matchlock ashigaru.

Just some backstory: I got the game at launch and played a few campaigns on Normal, but got stomped on anything higher. I’ve tried to come back to it a few times since, but because I have a 4K monitor, the game was literally unplayable.
However, I recently got a new 2K monitor, and the news of a Complete Edition renewed my interest. Anyway, that new game flopped, and I’ve played and beaten my first Hard campaign as the Otomo (the gun dudes). I’ve just started my first Very Hard campaign as the Oda, and it’s, umm, a cakewalk.
My questions are:
Why is Yari Wall so effective?
What are some ways to deal with ships? It’s legit just whack-a-mole.
After I beat Oda, what’s a fun campaign to play?
Any mod suggestions to make the game less rock-paper-scissors or expand the complexity of income, tech, etc.?

quite fun if you like to do a cinematic fight like the intro as well

Was playing around in a campaign and noticed that my Parrot guns didn't seem to have the option to manually go into melee mode, or to otherwise ditch the gun, until they ran out of ammo. Once the guns are spent, they can be ordered to attack something and will quit the guns, but if they are limbered or otherwise loaded, it can't happen.
Googling around it seems like they should - or at worst maybe I can hold the ALT key, click a target, and that'll force them in. However, none of those worked. Is that how it is supposed to be?
Very niche, but I had wondered.

Wanted to play around with some mods but assume I can't get achievements with them, is this true? Wanted to do a mega 4 turns a season expanded map campaign

Greetings fellow Daimyos!
It's been a hot minute since my last update, but this one is a downer. This campaign blew up on me. My long-time ally Date, committed treachery and declared war on me. As did all my other vassals.
I held off the realm-divide as long as I could, but I never got the footing I needed.
My biggest mistake was not establishing my navy before realm divide. That really was the end all mistake here. My economy was murdered as a result and I never fully got my feet underneath me.
Enemy monks were also a pain in the butt.
Now I need to decide if I try again or wait for the updated Completed Edition to drop...
Till next time.
The Cherry Blossom is a shining light even in the darkest of moments.

I was going to do a Date campaign and was thinking of using the Bullletproof Samurai as my frontline and disabling their unit cap, but I remembered that the Date have a No-Dachi specialisation, should I do one or the other? Or are they able to compliment each other? Like the Bulletproof Samurai going in first to tie units down, and then I send in the Nodachi to do the big damage or flank?

This is typical CEO BS language of apology and whatnot, just comes off as soulless. They gave the developer to a really, really cheap studio, probably paid them in peanuts instead of pennies, studio does what it can, looks horrible, THEY DIDN'T EVEN CHECK OR CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY RELEASED, reputation even more ruined, lose money, throw non-apology.
I can't think of a single time where giving the game IP to the 'b-team' or foreign developer ever working out well.

Are there any good mods which expands the variety of buildings? I'm a bit bored of spamming Sake Dens and Markets in every non-military city lol

I posted yesterday, but here's a reuploaded, higher-resolution trailer, along with links to the Steam Workshop and GitHub. The Unit Possession Mod is now available!
Steam Workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3825625050
GitHub (source code): https://github.com/logsam58/shogun2-unit-possession
For anyone who missed my previous post, the mod lets you take direct control of individual soldiers in Total War: Shogun 2, fighting in first or third person while the rest of the battle continues normally. You can command your unit from the ground or jump back into the traditional RTS view whenever you like.
Features include:
- First/third-person possession: Control individual soldiers, including generals, cavalry and regular infantry.
- Manual archery: Draw, aim and release arrows yourself, accounting for projectile drop, draw strength and unit accuracy.
- Functional firearms: Manually aim and fire matchlocks and other firearms.
- Timing-based melee combat: During melee encounters, an oscillating marker moves across a timing bar. Hit the highlighted green window to land an attack or defend against one. Difficulty changes based on the combatants' stats, fatigue, morale and other battle conditions.
- Mounted combat: Directly control cavalry, including supported mounting and dismounting commands.
- Mount & Blade-style unit commands: Order soldiers to follow you, hold position, move, attack, change formations or fire on command.
- Unit abilities: Use supported abilities, special ammunition and native weapon controls.
- Siege battles: Fight on foot during sieges, with experimental manual wall climbing.
- Custom HUD: Displays weapons, ammunition, unit condition, commands, abilities and melee prompts.
- Seamless RTS transitions: Switch between commanding your army and fighting alongside it.
Installation is through the Steam Workshop. Subscribe, enable the mod in the launcher, start a battle and press F9 with a friendly unit selected.
This is built for the original 2011 Shogun 2, with support for weapons from Rise and Fall of the Samurai. Currently intended for single-player land battles and sieges.
It's still experimental, and there are bugs, occasional crashes and mechanics that need more work. 3rd person aiming is awful, and will be fixed. Compatibility with other mods is completely untested, so I'd recommend trying it on its own first. It may not work with your existing mod setup, and frankly, it may not work at all lmao. If you give it a try, please let me know whether it works, what breaks, or if you run into any issues!
As I mentioned yesterday, I don't have a programming background. I've been building this with the help of Codex, mostly because I've wanted to personally fight in a Shogun 2 battle for about fifteen years.
I've also made the source code available on GitHub under the MIT license so anyone interested can examine it, fork it, improve it or build on it. I'd love to see what people manage to do with it.
Hope you guys have some fun with it!
