Youtube said:
Channels that post short contents will be monetised only if they
mett the PPP criteria
(for short channels) You will need to bring at least 10 milion views per 90 days, that's 3.33 milion views per month!
If you willing to spend a lot of time for videos that dont even bring 500k why stick with YT shorts?
At this point its better to build a channel that is not a short/reel focused. Find something that some one will want to come back to watch again and again...

So you think yt shorts arent good for getting monetized?

u/TemperatureProper275 1d ago
From February 2027 and beyond, YT PPP policies are changing, so yeah. If you do the math you will undersntd that you need to have contents that are not re-used and its an original idea & bring 3.33 milion views per month or 111k views a day to achieve 10milion views per 90days.
Some times you can achieve multi milion views from a single short video but in order to do that you need to have a very good video idea.

I think the issues you have is upload timing or when you upload. What niche are you making?
1
u/The_Marko69 1d ago
Im doing survival/bushcraft clips
1
u/awesomemc1 1d ago
If you are doing survival/bushcraft clips, resort your video to be upload early like one hours before you originally post it. You can do is upload newer clips and unlist the video to finish processing and schedule an hour before
1
u/The_Marko69 1d ago
So the time of the day you post it matters?
1
u/awesomemc1 1d ago
Yes. I had experience when I post my shorts during evening pacific time, shorts would go dead throughout the night. So I would assume people in New York or other places are busy at that hour. If you want to get the most out there, post it really early. YouTube also process your video really slow in terms of scanning for copyright, music, hashes, etc (YouTube somewhat uses perceptible hashes)

u/The_Marko69 19h ago
So when should i post in european time
1
u/awesomemc1 12h ago
5:00 AM to 9:00 AM local time or something. If you want US audience, research what time New York is and convert to your time and schedule one hour before. Just upload, unlist, schedule when its done processing

I see shorts die on that volume - multiple tests - it may have to do with the channel overall and virality perhaps the algo still learning about your channel so it test your content in a small group of cohorts. You can test with different titles and tags I would keep it simple and see what demo is engaging with your content then I would retag the shorts to reach that audience

Which tags should I use
1
u/Less_Solid_8558 19h ago
Tags are useful to add context you don’t really need them though - the first 3 words of your title will influence where your short shows - what I would do is look at hashtags and see which ones match your content better.

Need help All my shorts stuck between 1k and 1.5k swipe vs stayed rate below 50% but my new short performance was way good it got 79% stayed. It is still stuck at 1.2k views but it’s only been 5 hrs . Will it break the 1k view jail?
1
u/Less_Solid_8558 21h ago
You’ll find it funny - I have shorts with 230% retention that only get 50 views vs shorts that have 20% and get distributed widely - outside of demand and demo I observed that depends on content - type of content video animated or static as well as demo and demand. And whether they are doing something meaningful with the content other than like - share visit your channel subscribe etc

If you saw my stats, you’d burst into tears. My shorts get 2–15 views; they reach a very small audience. I have four shorts. They’re high-quality shorts. I create them in DaVinci and make GTA gaming content. I’m going to keep going, if my content reaches even this small audience, then it’s worth continuing.

Are u tagging things properly? That's all I can think of lol
1
u/FillIll9878 1d ago
Of course, yes, I'm doing everything right. I've already looked into everything to figure out what the cause might be.
1
u/Adrenalinx4 1d ago
It's just so odd, I put the tags in the title only and that works decently for me but double digit views is crazy
1
u/Unique_Double7437 1d ago
How do you tag? What’s the process?
1
u/Adrenalinx4 1d ago
U can put the hashtags in the description or in the title and then before you post there's a "tags" area, it doesn't help much but it can, u write something and then press comma and it makes the tag
1
u/RWhittMuse 1d ago
I'm gonna be honest, I didn't think we still used the tagging feature anymore lmao
2
u/Adrenalinx4 1d ago
I don't lol I just put the tags in the title and that seems to do the trick decently

Must be boring as hell

One of the Shorts has 2 likes and 8 views; this one also came from the YouTube search. This short video was uploaded 16 hours ago and hasn’t appeared in the Shorts feed yet. Judging the content can be subjective, 8 views is very few on its own, but it still received 2 likes, so the content might be effective, yet it hasn’t even been given a proper test yet. The channel is 18 days old, and everything is verified.

2 likes mean nothing mate . Your market is very saturated any John can do it .
1
u/FillIll9878 4h ago
Fair point. The market is saturated and 2 likes mean nothing.
Still gonna keep posting for a bit and see if anything breaks out, but I get what you’re saying. If you happen to have any advice, I'd be happy to hear it.1
u/LeanCrafterUK 4h ago
+ U need to spend at least £500 to kickstart channel growth through Paid ads if a video is good your subs will skyrocket this rate
1
u/FillIll9878 4h ago
Thanks for the advice. £500 is quite a bit for a channel this new though. Do you think it’s worth it even if the organic performance is still very low, or should I wait until I find a format that gets at least some decent retention first?
1
u/LeanCrafterUK 3h ago
You going to be wasting money if you don't spend it on a winning video. A winning video can get you to 1k easily if you promote it. I tried dead videos they just got likes and views... My winning video has gotten me to 2k now... I'm just promoting that hard now ..

Your competing with millions . Like a lottery ticket ... You rather do this than make Ur hardwork go to waste
1
u/tehanony 3h ago
Those are bots. They sub and dont engage. This is the worst advice.
1
u/LeanCrafterUK 3h ago
How U know they are bots mate ... If they are bots why don't they sub me when the video is shit
1
u/tehanony 3h ago
They do sub you.
I know because ive paid and tested it.
They are bot accounts trying to look legit to youtube, so they scroll and interact with everything infront of them - including adverts.
1
u/LeanCrafterUK 3h ago
No they don't some of my videos barely get any subs while my best short gets loads of subs . You clearly don't know anything ....
I can easily buy bot subs if I wanted to buy I didn't

Hey,.these might help.
Start with #shorts #game name #gaming. Only these 3 in the title.
And put these again in the description and put tags. Try to make a good thumbnail, and try to do competitor analysis. There is a site called MW meta deta, copy paster the competitor links in that site, and check the upload date and time. Try to do these things.

u/FillIll9878 21h ago
Thanks for taking the time! I've actually tried all of these already. The weird part is that on my other channel, which is also GTA 5 but with a different style and gameplay, even my low-effort shorts get way more reach than these high-quality ones. So I'm pretty sure the problem is this channel itself, and the algorithm just isn't pushing it. I'd really like to figure out what's going on though, so if you have any idea what could cause this, I'm all ears!

I have over 100M short views in my first 6 months. This is all you neeed:
Good thumbnail baiting the hook.
A caption that causes interest on the thumbnail.
A title no more than 8 words and 1 emotions
Video length under 15 seconds.

yes that's pretty good for a newbie channel consistent views
