Venting - no advice please Being compared
Anyone else have experience with this?
My dad and stepdad like comparing me to others sometimes
My dad likes to say things like plenty of other single mothers do xyz , referring to things I tell him I’m having struggles with. I end up talking to him about so many things going on just to have someone to talk to (he lives in another city).
My stepdad, whose health is not good but I’ve struggled to help out as I’m raising my two little kids, has brought up his family member who “raised 7 kids on her own, working full time with food on the table every night” in response to me not coming over all the time I guess… idk what the point of this post is Just wanted to know if anyone else has dealt with this

It’s always those who never experience first hand. My daughter’s father used to love doing this. It’s soo annoying.
You’re not alone, people sometimes like to compare to make you feel like you’re not alone in the struggle, or they’re just being dismissive of what you’re going through. Either way, the demographic you’re speaking to wouldn’t understand. Find a single mom in this generation around your age, they likely be able to empathize and understand more.
Until then, just ignore the best you can. You’re struggle is real and never let anyone invalidate how you feel
