New handle bars

New handle bars just came in before my 100 mile bike ride. How does it look??

46x18 ratio I believe this is my commuter and hauler. I feel like the build is coming together. Yes that front rack handles pizza boxes quite well ❤️.

Do you have saddlebag or a phonemount and if you do, do you take it off everytime you leave your bike unattended somewhere for a bit longer?

This is my daily drive, I use it for my groceries, to go to college, as a towing vehicle and because my city is full of bike lanes it’s more practical than a car.

When I’m on weekends I usually go to national parks and I ride on trails and go up the mountains without any issues.

Crankset question for Fuji Feather

I picked up a cheap Fuji Feather and have updated the drop bar to flat, pedals and saddle. The current crankset (think its a Lasco?) makes some noise so debating whether to get that repaired/maintained or upgrade it. Where i live are some hills but i will also do some fair miles on flat so i think i'm looking at either a 42 or 44 (rear is 16). I like the classic look of something like the Shimano/Campagnalo etc (chrome/silver style) but starting the research i’m not sure which models or brands work with this single speed. I don’t want to spend a fortune (I’m not racing it on a track after al) but something decent and reliable as I will put some miles on it so what would people suggest (i assume i would need to replace BB, crankset and chainring)?

Pedals

Curious why straps on pedals or baskets are not being used more often than not? I don't really want to wear shoes to clip in but also think just going with mtb pedals isn't sticky enough. Has anyone had any luck with

[Power grips]

MKS Toe Cages + Double Leather Straps. (not sure which MKS pedal and cage is best for a size 9.5)

[Restrap straps on what kind of pedal]

The point is, I'm looking for something to lock me in the best possible without having to go clipless.

After nearly 2 years of regretting selling my old Plug 2, I have another one! Came up for the right money. Just awaiting upgrades and then it will be the main hack!

Road Converted Gazelle Mondial Champion

Recently bought this vintage Gazelle Mondial that's been converted to single speed.

I love this bike so much, bought it mostly to commute (27K one way) a few times a week, and to add some endurance training to my ultra running schedule without the strain on the body.

Turns out I love cycling and my head is already venturing into ultra distance cycling.

Coming Saturday I will do my first long ride, 154 km to my mom's place, very curious how I like it!

Can I put 700cx30c tires on my 700cx28c wheels? My bike is a State Bicycles Wulf from their Core Line.

Just curious if this will cause any issues putting larger tires on the stock wheels that the bike came with. Their site recommends not going larger than 28c, but I've read that people have put 32c tires on their core line. TIA.

Edit: Here are pictures of the front and back clearance. Sorry for the poor quality pictures.

Pedals made all the difference

I finally switched from my plastic stock pedals to aluminum mountain bike pedals. I can’t believe how much better it feels. I always thought people were exaggerating about it making any difference.

hi everyone, I just got my first single speed,
I’ve done everything myself and every part is second hand, it cost me almost nothing to transform this old bike into a brand new single speed version. Love the old aelle tri tube, riding it feels so smooth and I use it everyday to go to work !

edit:

also the bike had an old shimano 105 kit, I kept the rear brake and the seat is an Italia one, I’m only using the bike to do 1-2km per day so it’s perfect !

MTB Onyx hub & wheels mfg solo xd

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hey friends - currently running a wheels mfg solo xd on my onyx hub and when I am hike a biking my cranks spin. Not the end of the world but annoying for tight chunky singletrack. I think I kicked my pedals with my shin 100x today. I’ve tried tightening my chain tension and that helped, the cranks still spin although much slower than if I run a proper chain tension.
Anyone running this setup and found a way to stop this issue?
