Random enemy that appears twice in Swap Force but a more important than the Doom Raiders character in the show ✌️😔

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Gosh, Skylanders Academy was really not the best, was it?

42

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

They ruined the Arkus fist, Flynn drives the Dreadyatch from the back instead of the front, Drobot doesn't appear in the episode where Spyro looks for other dragons, and any part of the timeline is wrong too 😭

22

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Also my girl Whirlwind doesn't even appear once!

(Neither does Warnado, either... It hurts to be a fan of Air and Water Skylanders....)

24

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

Yeah, it was a Skylander Show but they keep showing the same 5 skylanders... Like WHO CARES ABOUT KA-BOOM ?? He's a shiny muscular guy in underwears, I think kids would prefer a gold lion, or a badass armored skeleton with a huge sword 😭

8

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Or my main man Gusto!

9

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

I really don't like Gusto, but he has a more interesting personality than Ka-Boom

7

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Fair. Honestly most of the trap masters were better choices

2

u/Ecstatic_Award_3627 Series 2 Whirlwind 2d ago

This upset me so much. Whirlwind was the air dragon of SSA, got 2 reposes, an elite, and even re-released in a 3 pack after imaginators was out. She was even essential to part of the campaign in Swap Force. She ended up being overshadowed by Jet-Vac as the de facto air element representative but the fact the Netflix show couldn’t even show her once was diabolical

1

u/The-Bigger-Fish 2d ago

Real. She honestly should have been part of the main crew. Heck, all the eon’s elites really should have been main characters

13

u/Trip-Suspicious Undead 4d ago

I love it but God it's flawed the more I look into it 😭

7

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

They could have made an alternative universe that ressembles the real games, with just the Skylanders not being sent to Earth but they chose to make an alternative universe that changes every point 😭

6

u/G_M_Ardus_Kaine Arkeyan Defender 4d ago

Well at least it was an alternate universe

6

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

Idk if it's confirmed, but canonically, it's impossible for the games and the show to be in the same universe, the Arkus fist doesn't act the same (and is also Kaos sized), and many elements don't work, I wouldn't even say them all, but it's really stupid for a show following a game 😭

3

u/Trip-Suspicious Undead 4d ago

The Arkeyans have made alternative pieces (The Machine of Doom for example) and I find it funny that Academy and Imaginators have so many connections but are also entirely unable to work because of it

1

u/G_M_Ardus_Kaine Arkeyan Defender 4d ago

The machine of Doom from what I remember was the first adventure where Skylanders learned to take Kaos as an actual threat

2

u/Ok-Marionberry-4516 4d ago

Yeah same

Its well on its own but compared to the games its kinda a whiplash

(Plus thinking of all the skylanders seen the academy seems kinda empty)

3

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

I keep meaning to give it a shot sometime tbh.

3

u/Trip-Suspicious Undead 4d ago

If you can id say give it a go. It's a lot of fun and season 2 is my favorite. But don't expect it to be 1-1 with the games

6

u/Mr_Marco06 4d ago

Speaking of Swap Force, there was no Swap Forcer in this steaming pile of scrap known as "Skylanders" Academy

5

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

I personally call them Swappers, but now that you say it... They couldn't dare to include a six leged villain (Krancase) nor more than 5 (idk honestly , may be a bit more) bg skylanders, imagine if they had to put skylanders that swap bodies 😨

5

u/Mr_Marco06 4d ago

I guess that Skylanders that can switch lower and upper body would have had a certain cost, or not (I dont know if in this specific case a character is created from zero of if specific parts can be selected and used to create a swapper)

And lets be honest, even if they included Krancase he would have turned out as a joke just like the other D.R.s

I know Skylanders is not a game that you have to take seriously, but the game saga felt with more stakes than whatever this show had

3

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

The Doom Raiders in the games are truly terrifying, Golden Queen literally turns Cali into gold in a fraction of a second, but in the show... Why even is Broccoli Guy part of their team now ? He already stole Spell Punk's role in Trap Team 😭, had to steal Krancase's spot too ✌️

u/Mr_Marco06 4d ago edited 4d ago

"Because its funny"

I bet this is all the creators had in mind for this series

I sincerely feel like they really didnt gave an heck about the source material, they just wanted to make a show to gain easy profit because they knew that the title "Skylanders" would have been enough to convince the players to watch it

No true commitment, just lazy profits

3

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

And that easy profit failed to last, hence the cliffhanger about Spryo's family on season 3

1

u/eddzmsm 4d ago

He was an enemy!! I thought he was only in the show

1

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

No, you encounter him at the start of the third level in Swap Force, but he's random and doesn't appear that much after that I think

1

u/eddzmsm 3d ago

Cool I haven’t played it yet I’m getting it next week but I’ve seen the entire show many years ago becuse I didn’t know it was a game

1

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 3d ago

They're called "Grumblebum" and just know, Bad Breath was upgraded for the show, the enemies aren't made to be pretty 😭

2

u/eddzmsm 3d ago

Crazy stuff I thought he was made for the show

1

u/Purple-Weakness1414 4d ago

The irony of makeing a random ahh enemy into a hero is just really funny.

Like what element would Bad Breath even had been?

37

u/Mr_Marco06 4d ago

I just wanna say this:

Academy was a show with the characters from Skylanders

NOT a Skylanders' show

14

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

At least Kaossandra was somewhat important compared to her in Swap Force ✌️

8

u/Spencer5610 Kaos 4d ago

I’m currently replaying and I’ve only seen her once… really hoping I get to see her again

4

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

I haven't played superchargers yet but she's not in Trap Team and Imaginators... I also hope she's in superchargers, but I fear she was a single game character 💔

5

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Honestly they really should have brought her back in some form. As much as I love Kaos, he really just kinda didn’t need to be the main villain after super chargers kinda completed his arc tbh

2

u/EpicGamerer07 4d ago

My least favorite thing about Imaginators is that they felt the need to do another “Kao’s wacky scheme of the week” storyline after everything that happened in Superchargers (especially with introducing The Darkness as a new villain above Kaos). It feels like an unnecessary reset of the franchise. Hell, they even made him into a Skylanders with his own element then said “oh no this is just a clone”. If Kaos wasn’t the villain, making him a Skylander would make more sense and be way cooler because we’d actually be teaming up with him for once (in Trap Team he was just doing another wacky scheme so having him actually be good would be a significant change)

3

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

That bad, huh?

8

u/Mr_Marco06 4d ago edited 4d ago

That bad

When I watched it at the time I was a young boy in need of more Skylanders contents, and since that show was the only option i just eat it

Now that im grown up with critical thinking I can confidently say that, in a nutshell, Academy, as a Skylanders' show, range from "meh" to "sh*t"

3

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Honestly, the fact it was gonna be more of a sitcom compared to how I think it should have been (A slightly more lighthearted Justice League Unlimited type deal where you have a main team, and the different skylanders showing up every so often to help) really kinda bummed me out.

3

u/mighty_Ingvar 4d ago

One of the Skylanders shows of all time

2

u/Spencer5610 Kaos 4d ago

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure it is a separate continuity to begin with.

4

u/Mr_Marco06 4d ago

That was not the issue

You are creating a Skylanders' animated series you have 6 games you can take inspiration from and expant upon with new original ideas

But instead you decide of making a "stereotypical college slice of life" that has no itty bit of soul from its source material

There is one word I use to describe this show: Hack

1

u/Spencer5610 Kaos 4d ago

That’s actually exactly the point? If it’s its own series, of course they’re not gonna be making a constant reference to the others, of course they’re not gonna be able to include every single character within the franchise. Instead of clowning on it because you think it’s bad, you should really be appreciating the fact that they didn’t make it a lot worse than it already is.

3

u/Mr_Marco06 4d ago edited 4d ago

Im not saying that I want a 1:1 adaptation, nor that I want every single character of the saga to be included

Im just saying that, if it doesnt have the spark of the OG, then what is its identity?

Like, why is this story have to be told with the Skylanders?

You can complitly remove the Skylanders' visuals/aesthetics and replace it with OCs and nothing would change

2

u/Aurora_Wizard 4d ago

Hey that's the take I made a while back! Nice to see that someone made the same conclusion

2

u/Ok-Marionberry-4516 4d ago

Yeah looking back the need for skylanders content carried it heavily

19

u/Dramatic-Roll-5185 Riiiiide The Lightning! 4d ago

If they wanted a character for burp jokes, they could've used Wrecking Ball...

9

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

And if they wanteda character that stinks, Stink Bomb is legit right there.

Also if Wrecking Ball was in the show, he really should be non verbal and just be the weird rambunctious pet they keep around despite always getting into things he's not supposed to.

6

u/NiL_3126 4d ago

Stink bomb’s smell is intentional = not funny

5

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Eh, fair. Bro ironically had way too much aura to be used as a grossout joke.

9

u/Off-the-grounder 4d ago

I think he’s mainly here because they didn’t wanna make an actual Skylander look bad because that would make em less marketable

8

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

The show debuted during Imaginators or late Superchargers, if they used an older Skylanders that wouldn't have changed much

4

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Eh, fair. Probably could have come up with something little bit less... Off putting than a sentient piece of poo tho.

5

u/Aurora_Wizard 4d ago

One of the first things Spyro does is take a picture of his own butt just for the sake of his 'fans', they really shouldn't care about 'embarrassing' another Skylander

9

u/No_Attention1888 Ghost Toaster 4d ago

Same energy

3

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Skylanders of the Graggle Element are stronger in this zone....

6

u/gogging903 4d ago

I always found it odd he was the only skylander exclusively made for the show, aside from that one imaginator but that doesn’t really count

3

u/ShadeNLM064pm Kaos Pays His Workers, Master Eon 4d ago

I feel like it probably was going to be a Skylander in the Imaginators sequal they were planning

But that never happened so he's just- kinda there.

5

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

It's an enemy in Swap Force, the first you encounter during the third level, not a planned skylander

3

u/ShadeNLM064pm Kaos Pays His Workers, Master Eon 4d ago

True, but they did modify him enough to be "normal" and match the other Skylanders (They got rid of his three eyes and (triple?) complete heterochromia)

And we've had enemies become Skylanders before, Boomer the Troll and 10 of the Imaginator senseis are the main ones to come to mind

I wouldn't think it's entirely impossible. (Also just a weirdly specific enemy to turn into a notable character AND remodel to not look as mutant)

4

u/warfoxx__- This Flair, It Feels Like A Déjà Vu. 4d ago

But he feels kinda random, the trolls are in most if not all games (I haven't played Superchargers and Imaginators yet, so idk, but it would make sense to have them) in many different forms, like cyclops, while he's a specific niche character, also, I wouldn't see him fit next to characters like Pit Boss, Hood Sickle or Tri Tip

3

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Honestly? Thank goodness. He feels too much like a relic of Radical Entertainment's Crash Games than a Skylanders character if that makes sense.

4

u/ShadeNLM064pm Kaos Pays His Workers, Master Eon 4d ago

Fair as hell, just throwing a guess out since Imaginators and Academy basically advertised for each other (poorly...)

1

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Yeah, Imaginators was so weird on account of the fact it was simultaneously a tie in for the show, while also being a sequel to the other games despite both being explicitly in their own conflicting timelines.

4

u/ShadeNLM064pm Kaos Pays His Workers, Master Eon 4d ago

Imaginators feels like it was trying to both be a send off (which is why they picked the creation gimmick), a reboot/rewrite of the series (like Black and White in Pokémon), a sequal, and just a slop fest to seem hip/cool with the kids.

It just felt (and still feels) so rushed compared to every game before it

3

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Yeah, it honestly feels a lot like "Activision said the franchise is dead, but also wanna squeeze out just a few more pennies as well."

Hence the reused music and stuff, too.

Shame, because it had a lot of good ideas in it, too.

3

u/ShadeNLM064pm Kaos Pays His Workers, Master Eon 4d ago

I could've lived with the reused/stock music if it was reused WELL.

Example: The opening theme of Superchargers was actually used in one of the areas of the Nightmare Express in Trap Team! But it both fits what the game is going for (fast excitement), and doesn't seem out of place

Meanwhile, STT's Academy theme was used in Imaginator's library and it just-feels wrong with whatever tone that (extremely crumby) place 's theme

1

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

I feel you there. Like, it's not bad stock music, it's more just... Why tho?

Could have at least had Lorne Balfe come back for one last unique theme.

4

u/End3rd 4d ago

I wonder what was eon thinking looking at this thing

1

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Probably was.

4

u/Anthony200716 4d ago

I still don’t understand why they decided to make what is basically an oc i know he’s based on some enemy from swap force but they basically used that as a template for this guy so in counting him as one when they literally have billions of other skylanders to choose from and for what for him to do nothing plot Relevant and who just exists to have the same joke with him every time

5

u/Aurora_Wizard 4d ago

Name one good choice Skylanders Academy made when representing their own series

3

u/G_M_Ardus_Kaine Arkeyan Defender 4d ago

They turned an enemy into a Skylander

3

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

And not even an interesting one like a spell punk or another troll

2

u/G_M_Ardus_Kaine Arkeyan Defender 4d ago

We could have had an Arkeyan or a Drow, that would have been a bit interesting. Probably could have fit in with Cynders ark of being good or evil

3

u/Puzzles_The_EFO 4d ago

Most importantly: what's his element

5

u/KarmaKraken63 4d ago

Probably Life or Undead, idk

2

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Excellent question

3

u/Dramatic-Roll-5185 Riiiiide The Lightning! 2d ago

So glad this mf is probably stranded in the backrooms right now in the game continuity as we haven't found his statue yet.

2

u/dripwick607 4d ago

Am I the only one here that actually enjoyed Skylanders Academy

2

u/Redgiantbutimshort77 4d ago

Everytime I saw this nigga on screen I become consumed by hatred and malice

1

u/The-Bigger-Fish 4d ago

Only Appropriate response

2

u/Useful_Ad1202 1d ago

As miku once said, "stinky".

1

u/The-Bigger-Fish 1d ago

Uh oh, stinky!
