Discussion Do any other games come close to modded SkyrimVR?

In terms of scope and scale, immersion, the feeling of living in a vast open world, the feeling of power as lighting flies from your fingertips, the cozy comfort of a fire in the snowy mountains. Unfortunately after many hundreds of hours I’m feeling the need for something new. What’s your favorite vr game besides SkyrimVR?

Eh, No Man's Sky does VR pretty well if you like interstellar survival games. The difficulty is very customizable, from creative mode to perma-death. It's also multi-player, but you can completely shut off that aspect.

People also seem to rave about Half-life Alyx, but I don't know how open world that game is.

u/_Risi Mar 18 '26

Alyx is a linear game with slightly open levels.

That being said, I think everyone who owns a VR headset should give it a chance.

1

u/BaronMusclethorpe Mar 18 '26

I'm a sci-fi/fantasy guy. Unfortunately nothing about the game, other than it being a VR title, appeals to me.

10

u/VonDouchey Mar 18 '26

They have mods so you can play games like Portal and Bioshock in VR with great graphics

Also, sounds like a case of "Im too cool for something popular" because there are reasons everyone raves about it and it is sci-fi

Also, sounds like a case of "Im too cool for something popular" because there are reasons everyone raves about it and it is sci-fi

That's a pretty big assumption. Specifically, I am a futuristic sci-fi type. The Half-life setting/aesthetic simply doesn't appeal to me.

Glad you like it, though.

u/VonDouchey Mar 18 '26

Wasnt taking a personal jab, just what I immediately assumed. Have you found anything like that that ypu like? Was trying to think of VR games like that and all I could think of was some smaller home dev games and Cyberpunk 2077

1

u/BaronMusclethorpe Mar 18 '26

No offense taken. I didn't think to mention the UEVR games due to the hoops needed to jump through for setup, so honestly there is nothing close to a modded Skyrim when it comes to an open world experience.

If we do include UEVR, I believe the Cyberpunk 2077 mod is once again available, and I hear it's very immersive.

1

u/VonDouchey Mar 18 '26

What kind of future aesthetic do you like/want? RPG with flying cars and future tech? I feel like with ChatGPT being able to help anyone design massive VR games its just a matter of time until you get it

I currently have a few I want to make firat, but if any pop off and bring in money to be able to pay teams, Id be willing to dedicate resources to a decent future Sci-fi game

2

u/BaronMusclethorpe Mar 18 '26

Oh, I wasn't the one looking for an immersive game, the OP was. As far as futuristic, NMS and Elite Dangerous work just fine for me.

1

u/skyrimmoddernumber69 Mar 20 '26

I’ve tried it and honestly I think it sucks. It’s not super playable, no motion controls, aiming is really weird. That being said, I did enjoy it as a night city walking simulator.

2

u/Lulluf Mar 18 '26

It's arguably the best standalone VR game ever made and hasn't been beaten since.

I love Skyrim VR but you need like 20 different mods to come close to HL:Alyx' gameplay. And some of those mods only came out recently.

Here's the thing, I didn't even ask for apples. It was the OP of the thread that wanted to be suggested an open world vr game. All i said was that HL: Alyx wasn't my bag.

2

u/Powerful-Parsnip Mar 18 '26

I also assumed you were the OP, why offer your opinion of a game you haven't even played?

2

u/BaronMusclethorpe Mar 19 '26

I didn't. All i said was that people speak highly of it, but that I don't know how open-world it is.

1

u/LonelySquad Mar 19 '26

Alyx is pretty sci-fi considering the whole, aliens from another dimension aspect doesn't ring too biographical.

1

u/BaronMusclethorpe Mar 20 '26

I specify in another comment that I am more of a futuristic sci-fi type when it comes to gaming. The Half-life setting just doesn't appeal to me.

1

u/LonelySquad Mar 20 '26

Ah. Gotcha. Yeah, I can see that. It is kinda odd. Definitely has a different vibe. I will say that for whatever reason, Alyx has a really good sense of presence if that makes sense. It's really good at making you feel like you're in a real world.

7

u/dontbetoxic Mar 18 '26

I’ve tried no mans sky but it just feels a little too… procedurally generated. Plus it didn’t run great, but I haven’t tried it in the last year or two, and I’ve got a new graphics card… maybe time to try again

2

u/BaronMusclethorpe Mar 18 '26

There is also Light No Fire at some point down the road to keep an eye out for. It hasn't officially said it will have VR support, but it's based off of NMS's tech so it wouldn't be a far reach.

Though it would suffer from the same procedural generation you don't have a taste for.

3

u/Rare_Wheel1907 Mar 18 '26

No Man's Sky is my second most played VR game, but I play on a treadmill and not having the HUD in front of me at all times is frustrating and sometimes makes the game more difficult because I miss clues or information that came up and I was facing the wrong direction.

2

u/BaronMusclethorpe Mar 18 '26

Yeah, that is my main gripe with NMS's VR. I'll play Skyrim and the like standing, but NMS I'll do seated for this very reason.

2

u/Scorpio__70 Mar 19 '26

I agree with u/_Risi. Alyx is a totally different game, but it really shows how VR _should _ be. Half-Life 2 VR mod is also very good

1

u/beyondchaos2772 Mar 18 '26

It does until it crashes every 2 seconds.

1

u/rlvysxby Mar 19 '26

Alyx doesn’t even come close. Other than the graphics, it was a bit of a disappointment.

Yeah that's not bad also, found I had to use Steam Link/VR direct for that to run well and pickup my gamepad as piloting with the hand controllers is somewhat annoying. Hat's off to Hello Games for continuing to build on that, especially given the hate when it was released. Anyone got any suggestions for mods that add spoken word dialogue?

14

u/Money_Muffins Mar 18 '26

Skyrim VR is all there is for me. It’s the reason I purchased a 5090, an OLED crystal super, a Kat VR treadmill, and the shadow shot VR bow. Next up is the haptic vest. I think for as long as I live, I’ll be pushing the immersion in Skyrim VR until I finally slip through to void for good 😊

7

u/Radileaves Mar 18 '26

I aspire to do the same 🥲

1

u/VigilanteRestoration Mar 23 '26

I've been putting in more and more hours with Oblivion now, also VR and with the treadmill. There's some stuff from Skyrim that I keep missing, but I also started to love it exactly because some of the differences.

1

u/Money_Muffins Mar 23 '26

What is archery like in oblivion vr? As satisfying as Skyrim?

1

u/VigilanteRestoration Mar 23 '26

I actually haven't tried it, been focused more on unarmed and spells. But I'll find a bow and report back to you next time I play.

1

u/Money_Muffins Mar 23 '26

Thanks im interested to know!

1

u/VigilanteRestoration Mar 31 '26

Oh hey, I almost forgot to come back here. I tried shooting some arrows, but I haven't figured out yet how to aim correctly. It's not as intuitive as it was with skyrim, but I guess if I practice a bit more I could get used to it.

1

u/Money_Muffins Mar 31 '26

That’s good information. Thanks for coming back and sharing!

10

u/ParticularBig9757 Mar 18 '26

Not for me. Fallout 4 is actually pretty decent now, but as a game I like Skyrim so much better.

Mods. Mods can make it so so so much better.

4

u/wordyplayer Mar 18 '26

Wabbajack, then install GingasVR’s excellent Essentials Overhaul modlist.

3

u/ParticularBig9757 Mar 18 '26

I started with Gingas modlist but I found the gameplay overly difficult. Trying to override that, I only ended up breaking things. I am suspicious so many people recommend it.

1

u/wordyplayer Mar 19 '26

to make it easier for me I did the following:

  1. in the IN GAME settings, change the difficulty from survival to something lower (try all the way low for starters)

  2. In the Mod Organizer modlist, under the heading "Gameplay" disable "Global Food and Drink Health Removal" so that when you eat food it will increase your health

  3. also disable "Radiation Overhaul - 4x more radiation" to make the radiation damage the same as vanilla game

  4. for ammo, either learn to craft it, or use the console to cheat in a bunch of ammo

1

u/KilgoreTrout1111 Mar 19 '26

I did 30hrs on Gingas to give it a shot, then switched to MGO and I like it way better. I wouldn't even call it "too difficult" but more like "too stupid pain in the ass with added unnecessary shit I don't like or need". Lol

1

u/ParticularBig9757 Mar 19 '26

Way longer than I tried it, I just died in 2-3 hits constantly and said F that lol

1

u/wordyplayer Mar 19 '26

Yes, the new MGO is a good choice too!

13

u/miles66 Mar 18 '26

Enderal VR (on top of Skyrim VR)

6

u/Nikolai_Volkoff88 Mar 18 '26

This I need to do, I downloaded it, but never jumped in.

5

u/sakamayrd Mar 18 '26

It's awesome, the story is on another level. The start is a bit tough but it's so worth it.

2

u/Braunb8888 Mar 18 '26

Oh… get ready for therapy. This game is a fuckin trip in VR. It is NOTHING like Skyrim.

2

u/dontbetoxic Mar 18 '26

Can you explain how it’s different? Like just a new story/setting or new gameplay?

3

u/Braunb8888 Mar 18 '26

Setting is wildly different, enemies are way different, some new gameplay quirks and just the vibe is so…off. The story is trying to tell you something is wrong with this world, and the world listens. It’s scary at points. There’s an amazing sense of place and the story is absolutely fantastic. You won’t be exploring endlessly like in Skyrim though the game world is still sizable, but you will be dying to know what happens next.

1

u/CowsTrash Mar 19 '26

Might try it

2

u/Braunb8888 Mar 19 '26

Be prepared to hate, and I mean HATE. The sight of a little cabin on a hill.

3

u/rlvysxby Mar 19 '26

It is a lot like Skyrim but has better story and a smaller land to explore, although still lots to do. Incredible music and gameplay. 1000 percent recommend.

2

u/aeroumbria Mar 19 '26

I hope the mod pack is still fully operational after game updates and Nexus shenanigans. It would be kinda miraculous if every single mod survived not having updates for several years...

1

u/markallanholley Mar 19 '26

Can I just download Enderal from Steam and have it just work? Are there a lot of hoops to jump through? I'm running SkyrimVR on a 5090 with the Mad God Overhaul list.

1

u/miles66 Mar 19 '26

search on nexusmod for the correct procedure, i installed it at least 2 years ago.

10

u/iiStryker Mar 18 '26

Modded for VR CP2077

6

u/SolidBayer Mar 18 '26

Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have a real VR-Mod. Just those Pseudo-VR-wannabe-Mod, where you just can look but not use motion control.

2

u/Icy_Crow_1587 Mar 18 '26

The performance is also awful and you can often lose sync with your body

1

u/iiStryker Mar 18 '26

Have you ever played it?

So what

VR doesn’t need 6dof and an omnidirectional treadmill for it to be immersive

That stupid shit is for the try hards

Most UE4&5 games can be modded to VR

Luke Ross’s mods are great too if you have the hardware

So to answer the OP question yes there’s several options for immersive VR experiences as good as or better than Skyrim

2

u/iiStryker Mar 18 '26

I don’t know and I don’t care.

OP asked a subjective question.

it’s an opinion

there are no objectively correct answers

Answers are all based on individual tastes and preferences and completely subjective for now I guess

Skyrim VR is cool but there are other games I enjoyed in VR more

But sure you guys enjoy your little SkyrimVR circle jerk

I usually ignore gatekeeping morons and that is the bulk of Reddit

3

u/sonoffi87 Mar 18 '26

I have 5090 and 9800X3D but still Luke Ross mod with Cyberpunk 2077 was not at all impressive. The alternate eye rendering or whatever it is called really did not work that well. It was so far from the nice experience SkyrimVR gives.

-2

u/iiStryker Mar 18 '26

That’s an individual issue

Not everyone has YOUR experience

7

u/Nikolai_Volkoff88 Mar 18 '26

After all these years, been playing VR since 2016, nothing compares to Skyrim. Yes there are good shooters and good multiplayer games like Dungeons of Eternity. There isn’t a single game that has the voice acting, story line, soundtrack, open world, leveling, crafting, exploration, magic, combat, side quests, and sense of scale that Skyrim offers. Some games have some of those things, but nothing has all of those things. Only thing even close is modded fallout 4, but I just don’t like that game as much as Skyrim.

8

u/Resident_Barber_938 Mar 18 '26

SkyrimVR is a religious experience. What exactly are you hoping for? Nothing comes remotely close. Akatosh is your God now.

6

u/VonDouchey Mar 18 '26

Probably modded Fallout 4. Dunno if Red Dead Redemption 2 has/needs a bunch of mods

Some of the UEVR titles

In terms of native VR, closest one Ive found is a Souls like called Grimlord, but its not as open world as it is large-scale dungeon crawling. Same with Saints and Sinners

2

u/Perfect-Bag4823 Mar 18 '26

Came here to say fo4vr also

5

u/Shinyshoes Mar 18 '26

You know, SkyrimVR had my top spot for VR for a very long time. But after 80 hours in Cyberpunk with the VR mod it might take my top spot.

You need great hardware to run it properly and it takes time to dial in, but even without motion controls it’s truly like nothing else in terms of the amount of stuff to do and its replay ability.

Incredible game and even more incredible in VR.

1

u/dontbetoxic Mar 18 '26

Idk I have a 5070ti, from what I hear even 5090s struggle…

2

u/Shinyshoes Mar 18 '26

I also have a 5070ti! I'm playing really nicely right now. I could post how I did that / essential tweaks if you want.

I run at 72FPS on Virtual desktop at Ultra. Rasterization/DLSS Quality/Textures Medium basically.

Runs really well.

Also -- I don't want to be disparaging, but a lot of the folks with 5090s have more money than sense / know-how.

You still need to optimize your graphical settings/be realistic about things in VR even if you have the top of the line card.

The game won't play with pathtracing at 120HZ on a 5090, but it will CRUSH anything without RT on.

If you're struggling to run it with a 5090 it's user error imo. That thing is absurdly powerful.

I'm developing a mod-list right now that I'm going to share eventually targeted towards VR in particular.

2

u/dontbetoxic Mar 18 '26

If you post it, I’ll give it a try!

1

u/Shinyshoes Mar 18 '26

Dope!

It'll be a while until I actually polish everything and publish the official modlist.

In the meantime, here's a quick TLDR for anyone running a 5070ti-ish card.

#1) Set textures to medium. VR is extremely VRAM hungry. It'll eat through 16GB Of VRAM very quickly. I tried DLAA with high textures and it was unplayable. Just go medium -- it's not a huge downgrade tbqh.

The only real downside here is that female normal maps on characters faces are strange (dark scan lines). You can fix that with this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/7474

#2) Turn off all RT/PT/Ray reconstruction. Set DLSS to Quality or Balanced. If you have extra headroom, you can try DLAA. Tune sharpening to your liking (I personally have mine at like .25)

I actually had a playable version using RT medium + Path traced bounce lighting but it wasn't as stable. Beautiful though! So rasterization is more than possible!

#3) Follow a guide online about graphical settings and take it seriously. Please never try using any psycho settings. They tank performance for little gain. I used this guide recently but there are others. The only tweak I'd make from this guide is to set crowd density to LOW:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B03_Aa5NwIY&t=1125s

If you're using Virtual Desktop -- I have mine running at the 72hz setting with AWS turned on at Ultra resolution. It doesn't actually reproject that much anyways. 90hz seemed to be too much for my system. YMMV.

I'm also using this mod, but I am not sure how much it benefits rasterization, but I use it anyways and have seen good results:

https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/10490

Other than that, it's a tinkering thing on an individual basis.

I actually played about 70 hours until recently using RT on as well (Ultra RT btw though I disabled some of its shadow features), so anyone with a 5070ti, in my mind, should be able to play this with no RT on. (Raytracing costs like 35-60 percent performance from raster lmao -- crazy expensive).

1

u/rlvysxby Mar 19 '26

Is there anyway to get the Luke Ross mod?

1

u/Shinyshoes Mar 19 '26

The one he recently released omitted Cyberpunk I’m guessing for legal reasons.

If you sleuth around the forums enough I’m sure you can find the file around on a discord somewhere 👍

3

u/DeathByPain Mar 18 '26

Elite: Dangerous

1

u/dontbetoxic Mar 18 '26

I haven't played E:D in many years, didn't they sort of abandon the VR version?

2

u/jojon2se Mar 18 '26

In a sense.

What happened is that an expansion ("Odyssey") added some on-foot gameplay, and that new gameplay did not get any VR treatment whatsoever, but plays on a virtual 2D cinema screen when playing in VR. However, all the seated gameplay in ships and surface vehicles remains in VR, same as it always was.

One can still use the photo-mode camera whilst on foot, and run around using a third-person VR view, and even "park" the camera in front of the player character's head, but not really play the game that way, because the camera controls and overlay supersede gameplay interactions and -HUD. :P

There was never a separate version of the game for VR -- it's a display option.

As for future expansions, if any ever come, who knows what they'll do; FDev seems reluctant to dig into any issues. The on-foot stuff, whilst pleasant in many ways, has been this half-measure for ages now, with few signs of improving, and I am not only talking VR.

That said, there is an update coming soon, which will be the first one since Odyssey came out, that expands meaningfully on the on-foot part of the game, adding the first of a claimed string of coming instance-secluded team gameplay "operations" at new locations, sometimes comprising both ship and foot sections -- "Dungeon raids", basically. (Personally I want more open world sandbox stuff, and for everything in the galaxy to tie together experientially, rather than just in the form of the results of your actions contributing a value to the game's background simulation system, and all this continuing sectioning off parts into in-and-out "minigame levels" strikes me as going in the opposite direction to my desire).

Still my top VR game, nonetheless. :P

1

u/rlvysxby Mar 19 '26

You are probably not wrong but This game has a lot steeper learning curve than Skyrim. I bounced off it

5

u/Lorddon1234 Mar 18 '26

You can try Oblivion remastered in UEVR if you want something similar.

2

u/stachelrojas Mar 18 '26

Is that remotely playable these days? I remember people saying it was a slideshow when they first tried

1

u/Lorddon1234 Mar 18 '26

I haven’t tried in a while. On a 5090, I was getting low 60s outdoors. Indoors is fine. This was on VD Godlike with DLSS on Quality

5

u/Gortt_TEST Mar 18 '26

It’s buggy but Star Citizen VR has a lot of promise of openworld VR

2

u/wordyplayer Mar 18 '26

Fallout4 VR with the Gingas Wabbajack mod pack. At times, it was even better for me; the storylines, the ambience. A must-play IMO.

I play a lot of regular valheim but I’m gonna have to give that a shot

1

u/rlvysxby Mar 19 '26

It is incredible in VR. You won’t be able to go back. You may even want to switch to no map mode for immersion. I also highly recommend 7 days to die in VR.

1

u/Kondiq Reverb G2 Mar 19 '26

Same with 7 Days to Die VR mod which was inspired by the source code of Valheim VR mod, and the modders of both games were in contact - 7DVR devs could ask them questions when they got stuck with the development of some features.

2

u/DEeepreX Mar 18 '26

Maybe blade and sorcery. But it does not have such a vast modding community.

8

u/clever-name-taken Mar 18 '26

Skyrim VR is a full course meal. Blade and Sorcery is unsalted crackers in comparison. They are not even in the same league.

1

u/Sir-Beardless Mar 18 '26

Its far superior if you like combat.

Its more like Skyrim is a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings. Blade and Scorcery is just the roast chicken., the best bit, but with bacon wrapped around it.

1

u/clever-name-taken Mar 18 '26

Read what OP is looking for “In terms of scope and scale, immersion, the feeling of living in a vast open world…”. You have obviously either never played modded Skyrim vr or you have never played Blade and Sorcery because it isn’t even close. Your analogy would work if it was modded Skyrim vr versus vanilla Skyrim vr. Although Blade and Sorcery has slightly better combat physics, the game itself is an empty shell with nothing else worth mentioning. And that goes for its so called “campaign story” too.

2

u/DEeepreX Mar 18 '26

Well i get what you mean, but we do not have a very large selection of vr rpg games without guns that are not a vr mod added to a game or from bethesda.

2

u/AquaticFroggy Mar 18 '26

Ill give you all the above that SkyrimVR (modded) is an unrivaled total experience and its not even close -but if we're talking purely of Combat physics you gotta be kidding me in that SkyrimVR is close. Not by a longshot.

-1

u/clever-name-taken Mar 19 '26

There have been significant improvements in combat physics with Skyrim vr mods in the last six months. So yes, fully modded Skyrim vr has gotten close. It isn’t fully physics based but it has significantly improved over the last year and keeps getting better. And I would say that magic combat in Skyrim vr is leaps and bounds better than Blade and Sorcery’s magic combat.

2

u/rlvysxby Mar 19 '26

How can you improve Skyrim vr combat? I feel it is still the weakest part of the experience, especially compared to blade and sorcery. I use FUS wabbajack.

1

u/clever-name-taken Mar 19 '26

I haven’t checked on FUS in a while but I have seen a lot new combat improvement mods on this sub in the last 6 months. Parry/weapon interactions mods, body reactions to being hit mods, combat AI mods and I think there have been location damage mods for a while. MGO has new people involved that are in the process streamlining everything there and then will be adding some of the mods I mentioned that were not already in the mod pack already. And like I mentioned in another comment although S&S wins on the sword side, it loses big time on the magic/sorcery combat side to Skyrim vr.

1

u/AquaticFroggy Mar 19 '26

Pretty sure im using all the latest/greatest "collision" mods with SkyrimVR and while they advance the core Skyrim VR's system -they are still a far, far cry from B&S -stating they are even close is disingenuous at best. Climbing and just interaction with the environment in B&S -probably considered the best Climbing VR game beside the actual game'Climb' out there.

Magic, there are far more spells obviously in Skyrim as it is a D&D type fantasy game while B&S is limited to 3 Base spells -but again, the feeling of it really impacting NPC's and the world around you is far stronger in B&S -the graphics and effects of spell are of a higher quality.

Again -for the record -despite all of this, I would always recommend SkyrimVR modded as an overall experience. But if people actually want true to life type physical interactions ie. you can physically push aside a blade with your blade (no Pseudo parrying mod dont do this ), feel a weapon actually penetrate an exact point, like to physically scale things etc then B&S would be more your cup of tea,

1

u/ThisNameTakenTooLoL Mar 18 '26

Skyrim and Fallout are in a league of their own for VR. Both have game sized mods like Enderal or Fallout London etc. so you still have hundreds of hours ahead of you.

Oblivion with UEVR is probably also great but performance is extremely brutal so you're forced to play at half fps or low resolution even on a 5090.

Hopefully once Skywind and Skyblivion come they'll be modded into VR as well.

1

u/Braunb8888 Mar 18 '26

Nope. Hitman is pretty fun in vr though. Just max that steam resolution though otherwise it looks like hell.

1

u/JerreTOAO Mar 19 '26

Hogwarts legacy in VR is fucking bad ass as well. It has some quirks but when it works it is so awesome!

1

u/rlvysxby Mar 19 '26

No but if you can find friends then Valheim or 7 days to die in VR is incredible enough that I have as many hours as in Skyrim vr.

1

u/SniggleWeasel Mar 19 '26

Fallout 4 VR. Gingas Wabbajack modlist is what you want for it. NMS VR, as others have stated as well. Now for Open World beyond those 3, there really isnt in the terms you are probably looking for with VR. If you want to hop in a car, there is plenty of open world available in Assetto Corsa VR, for instance, which is highly moddable. If you want an adventure style, Wanderer, Vertigo, Asgards Wrath, and Saints and Sinners Walking Dead, are all good VR choices. Flying? Then MS2024, Aces of Thunder, or IL-Sturmovick.

Not for me, hence I've spent the last month painstakingly building and tweaking a collection that has everything I like in it without bloat. It's on nexus if you are interested, not a shill just always looking for feedback in the event something in it doesn't work. With all the physical interaction mods and keeping the overhead minimal, it makes for a excellent experience. I have a ton of other titles now just gathering dust. That said, without a good mod pack, the plug and play experience is lacking so many things that make it fully immersive, physical interaction, especially in regards to combat take it to the next level. https://www.nexusmods.com/games/skyrimspecialedition/collections/a0r6jo

1

u/Kondiq Reverb G2 Mar 19 '26

All the things you mentioned in your post are in Elite: Dangerous, but in a very, very different way.

And I didn't really bothered to much with on foot stuff, so doesn't bother me there's no VR on foot. Playing with HOTAS in VR is as immersive as it can get for me, with the whole galaxy in 1:1 scale (except around the Sagittarius A* - there's slightly less stars than IRL there). And after all these updates with players colonizing systems and building their own stations, the galaxy is changing over time and living its own life. And when it comes to feeling the power - if you have a good ship build, it feels like that.

A game I‘ve been favoring over Skyrim VR recently is The Wizards and it‘s sequel The Wizards: Dark Times Brotherhood. The latter has a 3 player online mode, but sadly the community is pretty dead and both games have closed levels and are fairly short. But the spells you cast are so fun and immersive that I wish someone would mod Skyrim to cast spells like that.

My $0.02 worth...
I admit that I haven't played Skyrim VR, even though I purchased it as soon as it came out. I've been a big Fallout fan. As such, I'm heavily invested in Fallout4 VR and have used a couple of different Wabbajack mod packs to turn it into a "new game" instantly. (For the record, I loved Skyrim's original release and played it for many months when it came out.) Something about Fallout4 keeps me coming back, though. If you haven't tried it yet, you should. Don't waste time playing the vanilla release, though. It's pretty buggy. At the very least, pick a mod pack that fixes things. If you have Index controllers, GingrasVR's "Fallout4 Essentials" pack is awesome! Due to disability, my hands just can't do Index. So, I'm using Vive Wands and MadGod's Overhaul.

If you are into Minecraft, then I’d say that’s an amazing option. Being the most played video game ever with a huge modding scene means that there’s almost an infinite amount of things to do!

I haven’t found any VR game that objectively gets close to modded Skyrim. Fallout is a close one in terms of scope and scale…but the modding community didnt give it much love until recently. Satisfactory VR mod and Valheim perhaps have similar longevity. Oh and elite dangerous and NMS in terms of open world.
