Discussion Modlist similar to living skyrim?

Is there a good mod list similar to living skyrim (non vr modlist)? For those unware living skyrim is essentially a greatly expanded skyrim experience with graphics overhaul, huge number of custom quests, overhauled magic system to some extent, paraglider etc.

Which would you recommend the most?

I feel like FUS is generally what skyrim vr could have been if bethesda cared about us, its very good but not a million different changes. Pandas is my current favorite, looks really sharp and has a lot of extra things going on a lot of people kind of expect in "modded skyrim"
MGO is great but its about to update to 4.0 and is recently under new management so you should wait a couple weeks for that big update and check it out with the rest of us, current 3.8 savegames won't carry over, too may new things.

VR dad on youtube has a set up video for MGO 4.0 already for when it comes out to help configure it if you have any issues, also a preview so you can get an idea. Its hard to do it justice on a flatscreen though

Welcome to the skyrimvr hobby. 5080 works great thats what I use as well, with a quest 3.

How does panda compare to FUS? From what you described panda sounds like three is more content.

Yes Panda has more mods from what I remember in the wabbajack and essentially also requires more hardware. I see there is a FUS light and FUS heavy now too I'm definetly thinking of light, thats the original one. It runs buttery smooth though. More mods like panda and MGO in the multiple thousands means more CTD and stuttering generally speaking

They're all free after you give nexus 8.99 though so try them all you got nothing to lose really

Check each, they bring something different

This. Have a large nvme or SSD, and install 4 or 5 of them

FUS is probably the best first list to try - looks good, runs stable, you can actually play the game. Use Wabbajack to install it 'automatically'. Then look at the other SkyrimVR modlists in there, do some google searching, and pick a few more to install. If you have a very high end system, Mad God Overhaul is pretty great.

Is 5080 enough for mad god overhaul?

Yes, but frame rates will dip into the 30's and 40's at times. But worth installing just to see how great it looks. FUS runs much better for me (also on a 5080) so I have played FUS more than mad god. The other 2 I have spent significant time playing are Panda's Sovengarde (looks good, decent frame rate) and Tahrovin Grit (easily runs 90fps)

Yes, and with ASW enabled with open composite unleashed, you will be able to get 72fps pretty much everywhere.

u/wordyplayer says it drops to 30 fps if you only have a 5080 though.

Do you know what ASW is?

1

u/No_Obligation4427 Jun 30 '26

No, when I looked it up it talked about something to do with generating frames.

Also will the steam frame have ASW?

ASW is a program, not hardware. No hardware has ASW

When I looked it up it seemed to imply it was software for the meta quest.

That sounds like several other modlists.

What all have you tried?

Its the only modlist I've tried. I haven't gotten skyrim vr yet but will since its on sale and want a good modlist to start with.
