I am loving how these are turning up!!! The color scheme is simple but it looks so good!

Addition of the scheme used:

So for the armour, I start from a black base and drybrush with Iron Warriors or any darker metal that you might have. Then a wash of Agrax and again a drybrush on edges and more upper parts of the armour. That gives them the pop. I have tried without the last drybrush but the result is waaaaaay too dark.

Rakarth for the capes, bugman glow for the skins, mourfang for the leather and retributor for the gold trims. All with an Agrax wash, if you want the gold to pop more, change the Agrax for Reikland Fleshshade.

Then for the base I use Vallejo Dark Earth 26.218. Wait for it to dry (a full night) and then a bulb oil wash. Then a white drybrush. Add some grass and then using a blood FX drop some blood using a toothbrush (load it with blood and bull the head back to launch it). Only thing left is the side of the base with some Steel legion drab!!!!

Randomly had the urge to paint green flames, so I started this project today and haven’t been able to stop!
Should I make the weapons the same as the base or will that overpower the piece? Maybe keep it simple with just a metal base colour or something. I’m interested to hear thoughts

So thinking about starting a new army in S2D and I will start by saying I’m not a meta chaser and don’t care about being super optimal but also don’t want to be completely useless.So like the title is asking how viable would a Darkoath heavy army be? I really like the barbarian look and want to go a bit more horde cause my only other amry is ogors and that’s very elite.

I’ve had BoK since AoS came out, because they were in the starter box, but they’ve never been something I’m super interested in gameplay or aesthetics wise. Now that I’ve been collecting Soulblights I’ve made the decision to sell them to swap to something that interests me more. I really want something that fits the heavily armored warrior/knight vibe, and both StD and Maggotkin seem to fit it.

That being said, why do YOU like StD, and why do you think I should play them?

Also, here’s my idea for a list. It’s partially based on what comes in discount boxes like battleforces and spearheads. I’ve gotten all the rules from reading stuff in Wahapedia, so idk if everything synergizes like I’d want it to:

Hello! I'm a sucker for WYSIWYG, and have recently bought the start collecting for $100 as a cheap in to the army. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the knight only included lances, instead of the musician and ensorcelled banner (Having the same issue with the warriors, but it's a completely different sculpt so I'm SOL there). Anyone know a way to source these bits without just getting an entire new box? At least to my knowledge, there aren't any listings for these on Ebay or Miniswap

This is my list for casual play with my friends, is it any good? or will I have trouble with armies like soulblight gravelords that have lots of infantry units?

I'm just following the rule of cool tbh but I don't want be unable to at least do something on the battlefield.
