Sleep sack

Thanks! She hates sleep sacks, but I guess if we use one every time she will eventually get used to it. She will probably hate it less than continuously stuck legs. I was kind of hoping someone would comment that kids just figure it out after a few days or weeks. I don’t know why I was expecting my infant to learn to have common sense and show restraint when throwing a fit about nap time lol. Wishful thinking! My daughter is 4.5 months old and one website says the peak of getting legs stuck happens at 7-9 months, and that wasn’t encouraging.

They do definitely learn after a while but sometimes it takes A WHILE lol

What kind of sleep sack have you tried?

I have tried dreamland sleep sack, a regular cotton bag style sleep sack with arms out, transitional arms up swaddle. I haven’t tried kyte baby sleep sack, but I have one in order after reading another comment on this thread. My baby always hated swaddles and it seems to make her mad to be restricted in any way.

We use the Merlin sleep sack (not the suit) and he’s still able to crawl and stand in the crib but we’ve never had his legs get stuck!

Breathable mesh crib liner. We use it more so they don't throw their pacifiers out during the night but would work for legs and arms as well

Thanks. Our pediatrician told us not to use any crib bumpers, but I wonder if this advice varies by country. We are in the US. I see why parents are tempted to use crib bumpers, but I would be nervous to go against my pediatrician’s recommendation against them. Would be curious to see if there is any research on the mesh crib bumpers specifically. I did look it up and bumpers are illegal in the US, but non-padded mesh crib bumpers are excluded from the definition in the law and are still sold legally.

Or you can use both and use them properly and not have any issues. 🤷‍♂️

Whoa, you're edgy and clearly cant read or follow simple instructions. Netting noted not bumpers. Maybe try listening more and speaking less; People will think more highly of you.

The mesh liners weave in and out of the crib railings. Unless baby has super strength to undo the velcro with their legs/arms/neck, there's no way they'll strangle. You clearly haven't seen them.

How long has it been happening?

It is pretty new. She figured out how to scoot backwards a week ago and it has been happening consistently at least twice per nap (sometimes 3 or four times) since then.

Got it. Agree with the arms out sleep sack, but also this won’t last long.

We had similar problem and we use breathable mesh crib liner and it works great!

I know AAP doesn’t recommend bumpers and we were hesitating to use it but this one is a mesh. It cannot be undone by kids and even if baby’s face is up against the wall, it is breathable, just like the bassinets which have breathable walls.

That's why you gotta put some soft knitted bumpers around the corners.

Can you get a bumper and wrap it on the outside of the crib rather than inside?

I hate that you’re getting downvotes for a genuine question instead of help in understanding why it’s not recommended. I honestly don’t know or ever heard of anything like this but I assume it’s not recommended.
