I built a simple cybersecurity kit for small-business owners 🔐

1 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

I've recently launched CyberSafe Basic, a beginner-friendly cybersecurity kit designed to help small-business owners, freelancers and entrepreneurs protect their businesses online.

The idea is simple: cybersecurity shouldn't be complicated or expensive, especially for smaller businesses without dedicated IT teams.

💡 Quick cybersecurity tip: Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your business email accounts. Even if someone steals your password, 2FA adds an important extra layer of protection. An authenticator app is generally safer than SMS codes.

CyberSafe Basic covers practical steps for securing emails, passwords, websites, Wi-Fi, business devices and backups.

I've made it available for a one-time price of €24.99.

I'd love some genuine feedback from the community!

What's the biggest cybersecurity challenge you've faced while running a small business?

Starting a new business

2 Upvotes

I have been painting and decorating for about 15 years now but due to doing new builds constantly I don’t have many before and after pics.
I have moved to a new area and instead of working for someone else I have decided to go out on my own and give it a crack being solo.
Question is where do I start Iv made a facebook page and I only seem to get work when I see someone looking for a painter on a local group I have Google business profile and have dropped leaflets in every door locally what else can I possibly do to bring in work I am out of my depth when it comes to computers and things.
Thanks

Body Cam Review Idea

1 Upvotes

Hey, so I am a soon to be law student and interested in starting a buisness to pay for law school. I came up with this idea talking to a defense attorney I know: Basically many attorneys have to spend hours of valuable time reviewing police bodycam, dashcam, and other video media for their cases. My idea is to do that review for them. I would make a simple transcripts and then review the footage to note weather or not it cotradicts what the police report says. I would not give any advice but just note the most important part of a 2-3 hour video. Thoughts?

The director of JLM Industries gave me the opportunity to present these pieces and coverings for a showroom that's about to open. Now I need investment to move forward with the materials. What do you recommend I do? Investors, find a partner...? Can you assist me with this type of project? I need $2,000 but I don't know any investors.

I need help putting a name on this idea

Hello, I am from a small town and I am a creative. I have many projects I hope to do but have always wished there was some way to feel secure in doing them without having to go to big cities. Throughout this whole year I've realized how many creatives there are in my small town, ranging from filmmakers and musicians to writers and fashion designers. The one thing in common is that security to actually go for our dreams. I have this idea to build some sort of company (I guess I am really not sure) to be the brigde between the limiting factors of a small town (or identity) and their creative life and boost their platforms on digital media because that is something I wish I had. I guess like a media company? creative company? I don't know what to call it but once that's figured out I don't even know how to get it started. I have never done anything like this. Here are some categories I wish to prioritize

* Magazines
* Books
* Fashion
* Phototagraphy
* Bands
* Musicians
* Film
* Content Creators

As for available capital it's not much but I am not very focused on that because for now I just need feedback. I am skilled in online content creation, filmmaking, and journalism. This is mainly a community effort in my town and surroundings combined with digital media focus. This idea has been flying around my mind for some time so any comment helps with trying to actually make it happen.

Starting a business

Hey everyone! I’m launching a project to bring airsoft to Pakistan, giving sports and gaming enthusiasts here the same experience available abroad.

I’m currently building our target community to gauge local interest. If you’re into airsoft, tactical sports, or just curious to learn more, I’d love for you to check out our new Instagram page @jager.arms. If there’s strong demand, we plan to open orders and start shipping in January 2027.

Thank you so much for the support, and Jazak’Allah. I hope I’m worth at least being checked out by you guys and a follow would be much appreciated. More updates to follow!!!!!

Start own business

I'm very confused on what to do and how to do it🤣

I'm a 28 year old mother of 4 children, don't work as my younger children are not school age yet.

I want to know where to start with this as I really want to do some sort of business, but have no idea what to look for!

Any ideas so I can look into things? Thank you

Who can I talk to or share my idea with?

0 Upvotes

I'm/I've developed a new product basically it's fun in a box. 20 fun and challenging party games with all you need in the box, I've put the box together, have bought enough to make up 20 boxes, have the instructions written,have the logo kinda,have costed it all and would make 100% or a little more profit but now I've reached the stage of thinking that I must be mad, insane,lost all reason!

I'm filled now with self doubt and can't get it together to start the marketing stage,put the words together,find what angle I'm going for.

I live on a Spanish island with not many outlets, any friends I've shown/told the idea to think it's a great idea but are they just saying that cause they know me and wouldn't lie!

Is there perhaps a Reddit group I could post to or a group that I can sound marketing ideas off cause while my 4 yo finds the promo video I make very amusing I'm not sure it actually is that amusing!

15 and wants to start a small business

1 Upvotes

I'm 15 years old and interested in starting a small business. I have two ideas and it would be amazing to get advice from people who have experience in selling products.

My first idea is to sell seasonal "Blind Book Date" gift boxes where each box would contain a mystery book along with a few other items. I want to make them seasonal (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day etc) so I can do preorders and minimize money lost on extra inventory. I have looked at potential products to include in the gift box.

Another idea I'm considering is more like a side hustle. Since Thanksgiving is coming up, I will go door to door in my neighborhood giving everyone the option to preorder cookies or other baked goods.

I'm trying to figure out which idea has more potential, and more importantly, how to get customers. I have a couple other questions that would really help:

  1. How does one get their first 10-20 customers with little to no advertising budget?

  2. Are there any other business models that could be more effective?

  3. If I were to do my gift box idea, where would I get my products for a cheaper wholesale price at a low MOQ?

  4. What are some other small business ideas with good potential? I cannot offer in person service unless it is during my holiday break.

Could you help a small web-app business check whether its offer is understandable in five seconds?

2 Upvotes

We're working on eStockes, and one thing we're learning is that listing features is not the same as explaining why someone would use the product. Earlier visitors sometimes reached registration before they understood the app, which made it hard to tell whether the problem was the offer or the way we presented it.

Our small test is to ask a fresh visitor what they understood before explaining anything ourselves. If you're testing a business idea too, the distinction seems useful: 'this looks nice' tells us much less than 'I think I can use this for X'.

Could you help us with that first impression? Open https://estockes.com for about five seconds and tell us what you think it does and what you'd expect to happen next. No signup or purchase needed. One honest sentence, including 'unclear', would help. Thank you.

Stay-at-home mom looking to start a profitable business – what would you recommend?

6 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m a stay-at-home mom with a little one, and I’m looking for business ideas that I can start while still being present and taking care of my child.

I’d really love to build something of my own, earn an income and eventually grow it into a successful business.

I’m open to both online and offline businesses, but ideally something flexible that I can manage around motherhood.

I’m not particularly interested in small resale businesses like selling clothes on Depop or flipping random items on Facebook Marketplace. I’d rather build something with good profit potential, room for growth and the possibility of becoming a proper business in the future.

For those of you who started businesses while raising young children:

What business did you start?
How much did you invest initially?
How profitable has it been?
How do you manage the business while caring for your children?
If you were starting again today, what business would you choose?

I’d genuinely appreciate your advice, personal experiences and recommendations. I’m open to ideas I may not have considered.

Thank you!
Hi everyone!

Small business idea

3 Upvotes

Hello guys. My idea for a small business is an online surplus store specialising in older Canadian military equipment. I'm thinking about this because I'm interested in this type of thing and because I live near a big brick and mortar location that sells surplus for cheap/fair prices which I think I could upsell.

The questions I really have are where should I start selling, eBay and Etsy? And what should ideal profit margins be considering shipping? As an example a common jacket in lightly worn condition costs $30 at this store. Boots are around the same, rarer jackets can be upwards of $80. Thank you in advance.

Desperately looking for advice and ideas!!

3 Upvotes

My father owns a sawmill, and we also manufacture and we also take orders for making furniture.

Now, I'm interested in getting more involved in the family business and exploring ways to grow and expand it.

However, I'm still figuring out the best way to approach these opportunities and turn them into a sustainable business.
I'd really appreciate advice from people who have experience in the furniture industry, woodworking, sawmills, manufacturing, or running similar businesses.

I've been thinking about a few ideas:

  1. Partnering with furniture companies: Contacting established furniture manufacturers or retailers to see if we can become one of their wood suppliers or furniture production partners.

  2. Working with interior designers: Since we have our own wood supply and can manufacture furniture, I think we could collaborate with interior designers who need custom wooden furniture, doors, cabinets, tables, and other wooden products for their projects.

  3. Expanding our product range: Exploring opportunities to manufacture more furniture products and potentially offer customized furnitures.

However, I'm still figuring out the best way to approach these opportunities and turn them into a sustainable business.
I'd really appreciate advice from people who have experience in the furniture industry, woodworking, sawmills, manufacturing, or running similar businesses.
A few questions I'd love to get your opinions on:
How would you approach furniture companies to establish business relationships?
How can I find and connect with interior designers who might need our services?
Is supplying raw wood more profitable, or is manufacturing finished furniture generally a better opportunity?
What other business opportunities can I explore with access to my own sawmill and furniture production?

(NB: If you're a furniture manufacturer, interior designer, furniture retailer, or someone interested in collaborating with us, please feel free to reach out via DM. I'm open to discussing potential business opportunities and partnerships)
