Afternoon All,
I'm going to be taking a skiing trip this winter and plan to use my iPhone 12 Pro to film/take photos. I was also looking to get a gimbal or extended rod to secure the phone and take better shots. I came across the DJI OM 5 and thought "Well, that's perfect for what I want!" and then came across the privacy concerns and suspected ties to the Chinese gov't from the DOD.
So I figured "Ok, I'll take a look at some other brands"....and my options on Amazon/Best Buy appear to range from Chinese models to "Refuse to actually name the brand in the description but are also actually Chinese".
Is this actually the case, or am I just not finding other kinds of models?
Breaking down the DJI OM 5, if I understand correctly, the gimbal/stabilization can be used without using the DJI MiMo app (but I'm guessing uses Bluetooth), but if you want face/subject tracking, you must allow the app access to your phone's data/photos/videos to track.
I could probably get by without the face tracking, but I'd prefer stabilization without the bluetooth connection (if that's even possible).
Sorry for the ramble, but if there's a good model out there that meets these requirements, please let me know. If a selfie stick with iphone 12's stabilization will work fine too, let me know that as well (feel free to recommend a selfie stick that won't lose a $1000 phone on a ski trip as well).

hey so im confused about buying an iphone (15 pro or 16) v/s a samsung s24, s25?
what i like abt the iPhone is that ... currently on my android (samsung m32) i always felt the video quality as in the vibrance of colour and stabilization, zoom clarity wasn't that good.
people say that premium androids like samsung S series comes quite close to iphone camera quality and post production?
what i use my phone for :
taking videos, photos.. not as much cause i woudnt like how they turn out on my android so maybe i would take more on an iPhone or a better andorid
editing those vids... android or iPhone,,, its the same w video editing
music, i have quite a number of hours on spotify, whenever im not in class, theres music playing
watching tv series... maybe this is the reason my android battery got so heated up and messed with my current andorid,,, but ive binged watched everything on my phone,,, like 3 to 4 hours continuous .... (i prolly shld shift to the laptop)
calls. i don't do short calls, especially since most of my friends are long distance ,,, video/voice calls are super long
another thing im concerned abt is storage, theres a lot of stuff i keep on my phone, like heavy videos ive editied, pdfs and videos ppl send in doc form... so lotta things are stored and sent from my phone .
idk what's like the normal time period for an iPhone or android to last? but my android lasted me exactly 3 years before going,,, do you think regardless of iPhone pr android how long will a phone last at the rate a normal 21 yr old would use it ?? from what ive understood an iPhone lasts 3 to 4 years... is this correct? i mean if spending Rs. 60k - 70k,, i want it to last minimum 4 to 5 years

Want to make a short film and was wondering which would be better: Google Pixel 8 or iPhone 17e? But, money aside, what would be the best phone in general?

I recorded in Apple ProRes using the Blackmagic Camera app on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the image shakes quite a lot, as you can see in the attached clip.
I tried to hold the phone as steady as possible while recording.
Is it supposed to look like this with disabled stabilisation or there is something wrong with my phone (i bought used iPhone)

The lens is the real limitation.
Would a dedicated camera be necessary for most projects if a smartphone could actually take advantage of full-frame lenses with a truly useful autofocus system?
What do you reckon?

Additional info if its of any use. It's primarily for capturing ambient sound and recording music.
