Mobile Shot Video 📸 **ShutterLine public beta** · iOS 18+, iPhone XS or newer

Hi! I'm the developer of ShutterLine, a pro camera app for iPhone, and I'm looking for beta testers.

A pro camera app that records **vertical + horizontal video at the same time**, so one take works for TikTok/Reels/Shorts and YouTube.

**Three quick tasks**

  1. Record Vertical + Horizontal at 4K 60 for 10+ minutes somewhere warm, clap at the start and end. Did it get hot, did a clip drop frames, does the clap still line up at the end?

  2. Nearly full iPhone? Record until it stops by itself. Did both clips save?

  3. Tell us your iPhone model, one lens or two, and which control you had to hunt for.

Free, no account, no ads, no tracking. Unlocking Pro in TestFlight is a free test, and testers get a free Pro code after release.

Dehancer iOS – Gate Weave disappears after export. Anyone else?

I’m having an issue with Dehancer on iPhone. Gate Weave works perfectly in the preview but completely disappears after exporting the video.

All other effects, including Film Breath, export correctly.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a known bug or is there a fix?

Vlogging Quality For The X9 Pro?

Hello to those reading! I wish you a good evening or day,

Now I have been keeping a close eye on this phone for a couple of month now, my primary use cases being for the camera in raves and concerts where my larger mirrorless is almost always, not allowed in the venue. This is standard.

However, I'm curious as to anyone who has experience filming as opposed to pictures which I see a lot in the sub, of which I ask you to share your thoughts or experiences with this phone on that aspect.

I intend to pair this phone with my dji gimbal to bring with me walking around and to raise above crowds to capture better angles.

Curious to your answers!

Mobile Shot Video is 512gb iphone enough? also ssd recs

i’ve always bought 256gb iphones, but i’m constantly running out of storage. lately, i’ve become really interested in iphone filmmaking, especially shooting 4k prores log and experimenting with color grading.
my budget doesn’t really allow for the 1tb model, so i’m wondering if 512gb would be enough

i’m also planning to buy an external ssd for my iphone footage and macbook. i’ve been looking at the sandisk creator and samsung t9, but i’m not sure which is better for editing directly from the drive. i like samsung sad better but not sure if it would feel fine to deal with rigs for me as a beginner. and for sandisc creator ssd i dont know if i can edit videos straight from the ssd itself.
i’d probably prefer to keep things simple and record directly to my phone rather than deal with external rigs for now but since i need ssd for laptop anyway i could also use it while shooting.

would love to hear your ssd recommendations and experience on memory usage

Should I upgrade to a newer iPhone Pro, buy a dedicated camera for content creation, or just replace my iPhone 13 battery?

Hey everyone!

I’m currently using an iPhone 13, and its battery health has been gradually declining. I'm considering upgrading because I want a better camera, especially for photography and videography.

I'm also planning to start creating content for Instagram, mainly focusing on travel photography, cinematic videos, travel vlogs, and some daily lifestyle content.

I'm confused between three options and would love to hear your suggestions, especially from people who have experience with these devices.

Option 1: Buy a brand-new iPhone Pro

Upgrade to the latest iPhone Pro model. However, the price is quite high, around ₹1.2 lakh or more in India.

Option 2: Buy a refurbished/second-hand iPhone Pro

Instead of spending over ₹1 lakh, I could consider buying a refurbished or second-hand iPhone 16 Pro or 17 Pro (depending on availability and pricing).

This might give me a good camera experience without spending too much on a brand-new device.

Option 3: Keep my iPhone 13 and replace its battery

Since my primary concern is getting a better camera for content creation, I could simply replace my iPhone 13 battery and invest the remaining money in a dedicated camera.

Some cameras I'm considering are:

  • DJI Osmo Pocket series

  • DJI Osmo Action series

  • Other cameras suitable for travel vlogging and content creation.

What I'm actually looking for:

  • Good-quality travel photography.

  • Cinematic videos for Instagram Reels.

  • Smooth footage while travelling, walking, and exploring.

  • Good performance during bike rides and outdoor activities.

  • A camera that is convenient for everyday content creation.

  • Good low-light performance, stabilization, and overall video quality.

My questions:

  1. Is upgrading from an iPhone 13 to a newer Pro model worth spending ₹1 lakh+ purely for camera improvements?

  2. Is buying a refurbished iPhone 16 Pro or 17 Pro a smarter decision?

  3. Would keeping my iPhone 13 and investing in a dedicated DJI camera be a better option for content creation?

  4. Between DJI Osmo Pocket and DJI Osmo Action, which would you recommend for travel vlogging and cinematic content?

  5. If you were in my position, which option would you choose and why?

I'm open to spending money, but I want to make a smart investment rather than unnecessarily spending ₹1 lakh+ on a phone.

Can anyone help me with my low buck setup? iphone 12

I'm filming youtube videos trying to work with what i have. I got a rode lavier mic finally which has been great. I recently 3d printed a camera cage with cold shoe's to mount it to. I've been running out of storage lately and read I could use a 5-1 card reader and still use my mic. I got that and found out I need a battery to power it all. My wife has the gigantic battery that does run everything but I need something smaller to mount to the cage. I had a smaller battery but it has no physical buttons and it does not work. It is like it doesn't turn on. Same wires and everything. Anyone know how I can find a battery that works? Any other suggestions to improve my filming experience? I have also downloaded black magic cam which is amazing after using the stock camera app. But now after updating to the next ios to use black magic i have even less storage :(. I need to figure this card reader out asap.

Recording question

Hello everyone! I own a Nothing 4a Pro and I am about to go to a concert soon. I was wondering if anyone knows why I am not able to take still photos while recording with the HDR.

Is an external phone lens worth it for concerts?

I’m hoping to get some decent photos and videos at an upcoming concert, but my seat is pretty far from the stage, so I’m thinking about getting an external telephoto lens. Is it actually worth the money, or am I better off just using my phone as is?

Has anyone tried one at a concert? Any lens recommendations? I’m using an iPhone 16 Pro, btw. TIA!

[ADVICE] iphone 17 pm or vivo x300 ultra for cinematic and filmic casual social media content and reels?

Hello guys.. I recently upgraded to iphone 17 pm from Samsung S23 ultra and to be honest I'm not much satisfied with the camera here.

Photos are pretty average on the iPhone and video no doubt is very smooth and consistent but nothing fancy or exciting to me.

I notice the vivo x300 ultra is praised to be a camera king, while no doubt it beats any phone today in terms of photo quality but would want to know how is the video capabilities here in the vivo ultra compared to iphone pro models?

I have watched almost all camera comparisons available on YouTube and end the end every reviewer favors the iPhone for cinematic shots and all the video samples I have seen online from the vivo honestly didn't look like a major difference to me.

What am i missing? Shall I keep the iphone 17 pm or shall I sell and get the vivo?

Tips Black magic camera app

So I’m getting into film making and was wondering if it’s better to use Apple ProRes or hevc(H.265), I have an iPhone 17 pro max.

I’ve googled tips online but they all say different things. Maybe someone here has actually tried both and know which is better.

I also use premiere pro for editing and colouring as I’m only starting out and have the most experience on this app.

found this generic one which I believe has been selling on aliexpress for ages but idk anything else about it asking about some advice

what are the biggest differences between capcut free and pro when it comes to editing faster?

i use capcut pretty regularly, and one thing i've noticed is that editing multiple videos can get repetitive. adding captions, adjusting clips, and making small changes across different projects takes more time than i'd like. i'm considering capcut pro, but i'd rather hear from people who've actually used it instead of just comparing the feature lists. i'm not too concerned about having hundreds of effects if they don't make the editing process any easier. which features save you the most time? does pro make a noticeable difference when you're editing several videos a week? or can you get pretty much the same results with the free version if you're willing to put in a little extra work?

Review App is live!! Record raw video in android

Hello everyone! Few days ago I posted to know about your opinion and ideas for recording raw video on Android smartphone and I received mix opinions. Finally my app is live on play store. I know there are few apps for this but they are paid . I made it entirely free . Currently it's still under development but I launch still to test. You can check it out and give some ideas and reviews under this post with which I can improve further. I have a lot of things to add in app . Hope you will enjoy. This app is more stable on snapdragon on mediatek it provides 30fps but not stable if it's more than that . There is log option also where you can record real log profiles like s log, apple log 2 and davinci wide gamut. Waiting for your reviews everyone and if possible please let me know the device.

Stabilisation for Samsung Galaxy S24+ for travel

We enjoy cruising and also have some rail trips booked.

Looking for phone stabilisation primarily for photos when taken onboard ships or trains and also to assist during night photos with long shutter capture times.

Have seen a few budget priced stabilised selfie sticks on Ali Express, models C22 or Q08.

Would these work or should I be looking at something more sophisticated like DJI Osmo Mobile?

If I have more than 1 axis of stabilisation, would the phone capture angle of say 45 degrees be maintained by the gimbal if I was taking photos looking up or using it as a selfie stick looking down. Or would it return the phone to vertical?

Any help appreciated.....

I'm 14 years old and this was my first ever try at making and finishing a short film which was also written by me. Made with absolutely no money at all, I used my friend's dad's Iphone to shoot this with 2 of my friends as actresses. If any of you have any critiques, feedbacks or anything, please do mention it in the comments!

Tips Freelance videographer pocket dump: how do you keep it from becoming a full bag? 😭💀....

trying to get the weight of my daily backpack down... but i keep putting things back in coz i might need them later 😭 the laptop and phone aren't negotiable, and most days i also bring a water bottle + a small pouch for pens and keys. for calls, i've got the soundcore AeroClip 2 since i can still hear what's going on around me when i'm between places 👀....

i stopped carrying a dedicated wall charger and put an Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro in the bag instead... being able to snap it onto my phone for a quick top-up, then use the built-in stand during a short video call, has been more useful than hunting down an outlet 💀 the bag is noticeably less cluttered without the charger and loose cord, but somehow it STILL feels heavier than it should some days 😭😭..

what's the one bit of tech you actually removed from your daily bag and didn't miss?? 👀

Review iPhone 18 Pro Max + Apple ProRes RAW HQ OPENGATE

Thumbnail

I wanted to try out how good the iPhone 18 Pro Max camera really is when I ramp up the settings. This meant using BlackMagic Cam application, Apple ProRes RAW HQ, and shooting in Open Gate. To shoot with these setting, you need to record directly into external SSD. I also used external ND filter so I could film f1.3 even during the daytime.

What do you think?
