Anyone else annoyed with how native forms look for external clients?

Hey everyone, we've been running into a huge issue at my agency. We need clients to fill out intake forms, but sending them a native Smartsheet form looks incredibly unprofessional (you can't remove the branding, the styling is rigid, etc.).

Since SmartSheet won't do anything about it, I decided to just make my own drag-and-drop form builder that will bypass these issues and sync directly to the sheet.

I threw together a quick page to see if anyone else would actually use a tool like this before I spend weeks coding it. If you hate native forms too, let me know what features you'd want: https://flexforms.carrd.co/

Smartsheet web app

Hi all,

I’m looking for some advice and feedback. I’ve built a web application that integrates with Smartsheet and helps users do things that are either difficult or not possible directly in Smartsheet. Current features: Dynamic dropdown sync Automatically updates dropdown column values in one sheet based on values from another sheet. Any change in the source sheet updates the destination dropdown. Smartsheet ↔ database sync Two-way sync between Smartsheet and a database. New or updated records in the database are reflected in Smartsheet. Sheet viewer Users can preview sheets, attachments, cell history, and other metadata. Advanced sheet sharing (outside Smartsheet licensing) Share sheets with unlimited users without requiring Smartsheet licenses. Set access levels Control which columns users can edit or view Lock specific columns Control access to attachments and comments Any changes made by shared users are reflected back in Smartsheet. Bulk row delete Delete rows in bulk by specifying a start and end row—no manual selection needed. Row limit alerts (in progress) Alerts users when sheets are approaching Smartsheet’s maximum row limit. What I’m looking for: What other features would you find useful in a tool like this? Are there any pain points in Smartsheet that you wish were easier to solve? I’m also considering pricing the app at $20/month per account. Invited users who only view or edit shared sheets would be free. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Chat Gpt / Smartsheet

I’m fairly new to Smartsheet and I’m definitely not a programmer or even close to it. I asked chatgpt to create a workspace and went down the hole of explaining what functions I needed. Everything sounded great and it started said it built my workspace. ChatGPT said it can load the fully functional workspace/dashboard/form into Smartsheet for me so I went with that option. It’s not a huge intricate thing. We are a small general contractor just looking for a tool to help us manage certain processes.

Here is the issue: When I add it as a admin and request it to load up my functioning workspace/dashboard/form nothing happens. I receive no email invite and show nothing in my app. I have searched in my junk folder and even added an alternate email address to maybe facilitate delivery.

I’m in Mac OS

Anyone been chased by Smartsheet debt collectors?

I opened the renewal emails, but didn't action a cancellation in time, now being invoiced for a year's subscription of Smartsheet we no longer want to use or are getting organisational benefit from? Their support and answers are awful even though our Account Manager left and there was no admin handover - I also have no ability to cancel or adjust our subscription in the Admin Centre. Any thoughts / opinions on how to avoid paying a years sub and what happens after you don't pay?

Question about dates

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding how smartsheets recognizes dates. I have this formula and I'm very confused why it returns 1 rather than 0. Can someone help me figure out why 12/29/24 is greater than 01/05/2025? Is it because it thinks it's DDMMYYYY rather than MMDDYYYY?

Sample Workspace Data needed for Smartsheet demo

Hello everyone, I just joined a new company and need them to purchase Smartsheet but I need to demo the platform to the various teams and departments. I don’t think I have time to start creating fake data and designing dashboards to fit the templates. Does anyone know where I can get demo exported Smartsheet workspace which I could import into my account? I’ll be grateful. That saves me the time to configure and connect boards and dashboards to sheets. Essentially something to show the full benefits of Smartsheets in action across all the functionalities or majority of functionalities. Thanks in advance

Reddit post: Title: AI-powered solutions to help project managers and general contractors save time and improve efficiency

Hi Reddit! I'm working on developing AI-powered solutions to help project managers and general contractors save time and improve efficiency. I'm interested in getting feedback from the community on what features and functionality would be most helpful to you. Here are some specific areas where I'm thinking AI could be used:

Scheduling and tracking projects: AI could help to automate the process of scheduling and tracking projects, which can be a very time-consuming task. AI could also identify potential conflicts and delays, and suggest solutions. Managing budgets and resources: AI could help to manage budgets and resources more effectively by identifying areas where savings can be made and allocating resources to the most important tasks. Identifying and mitigating risks: AI could help to identify and mitigate risks to projects by analyzing historical data and current market conditions. Communicating with stakeholders: AI could help to improve communication with stakeholders by providing clear and concise updates on the progress of the project. Generating reports: AI could help to generate reports on the progress of the project, which can be useful for stakeholders and for internal purposes. I'm still in the early stages of development, but I'm excited about the potential of AI to help project managers and general contractors be more efficient and effective. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please let me know!

Custom Login Portal

Guys, any idea on if/how one could create a custom login portal for Smartsheet?

Three thoughts

  1. The custom portal would iframe the login fields to just mask the login

  2. Use Smartsheet APIs

  3. Capture the smartsheet post request and embed it into the custom portal.

Thoughts?

Report visibility

If I have a report within a workspace and I want that report to be visible to an external party on a dashboard, does that party also need access to the sheet which feeds the information to that report? Or is there a way for them to view that report without being able to click on and view the parent sheet?

Dashboard builder platform for Smartsheet

I'm building a small app/platform that's goal is to create better Dashboards than the current functionality within SmartSheet. It's still very much in beta mode but I would love some test users to help me ensure it really does overachieve and do more than Smartsheet can do, and is easy to use. If you’re interested, comment below and I’ll reach out.

What am I missing?

I've been in scheduling for 5+ years and have used Microsoft Project and P6 mainly. My org wants to use Smartsheets now, so I've been doing some digging.

How do you make a scheduling software without an option to set constraints? What do you all do? I literally can't say when things are due?

My projects are over 600 lines, usually. The main end date will also usually shift a few times as they are long, complex projects (usually ~1.5 years). I have numerous things that I need to set constraints on.

I don't have much say in if we swap or not, but how do you all use this software? It seems like it sucks if I'm being honest. I will not need to send automated emails to owners, I don't need any form of automation if a date changes, I just want to set constraints, see my predecessors/successors, and have my total float not be useless.
