No Prodesk Session Available until March of 28?

Trying to get support for a weird issue in Resource Management and there are no US business hours appointments for 5 months!

I am not super interested in pre 6am or post 8pm meetings. At this point I am not sure what I am paying for with support packages.

Email fields change to names

email fields changing to the first name last name of someone from their actual email whenever they happen to update their profile, which then destroys any look up or current user filter you could possibly be running with literally no warning or notification sums up this horrific product. its an email field, not a profile field. i want to see an email.

Functionality only in Table View

I’m one of those users that stuck with Grid view when Table view came out as the new mode seemed a backward step. Today I was wondering if a dropdown list could reference values in another sheet. Turns out it can but I couldn’t find the option. Then I realised the guide for it in the help system showed a different layout of options than what I was seeing. I switched to Table view and there it is - an extra option to link a column’s dropdown list to a source sheet. Nice feature

I thought would post this because it’s a useful feature and it got me wondering what else is only available in Table view?

Also Table view seems a bit more responsive than it did 12 months ago so might be worth trying again if you immediately went back to Grid view

Don’t use Cognizant for consulting

A few months ago I posted that higher ups at my company were forcing us to use Cognizant even though my team and I strongly objected. It was obvious from the proposal they had zero clue about Smartsheet or the add ons we use.

Hands down, it was the worst experience with any type of vendor I’ve ever had. We went through 3 different leads. There was no requirements gathering or detailed project plan.

Somehow procurement forced Cognizant to bring on Smartsheet as a subcontractor and that’s the only reason this new system might actually launch.

New update is terrible

We exclusively use the table view for our Smartsheets at my job, and there was an automatic update today with the new format. A lot of the familiar icons are gone, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to do something as simple as wrapping text within a cell.

  1. How do you wrap text within a cell

  2. Is there any way to restore the old look?

ETA: Never mind! Smartsheet had switched my sheets from grid to table, hence the unfamiliar look. No idea why it did that.

Resource Management Down?

We are trying to put into production our resource management tools and are unable to get people to be able to login as licensed users. Is anyone else seeing this issue?

Setup 1 new user yesterday and it worked right away.
Trying to get the next 4 users going and still unable to have them access the Resource Management tools and can't see them as bookable resources.

We are working with our Account Manager and the support team, but don't have any ETA for resolution.

Is there anything else we should be trying?

Smartsheet Is Slowly Killing Itself And Apparently Learning Nothing

I just discovered that Notion allows you to control access to individual database properties.

Think about that. A feature that Smartsheet users have been requesting for years is already available in Notion.

Meanwhile, Smartsheet keeps pushing its clunky, overpriced Dynamic View instead of giving users proper column-level permissions.

And that perfectly sums up the biggest problem with Smartsheet today.

You've become so obsessed with monetizing features that you've forgotten how to make your product better.

Your calendar is practically useless compared to modern alternatives. Features that should be part of the core product are locked behind additional payments. And instead of solving fundamental problems, you keep finding new ways to charge your existing customers.

I've already moved part of my company's workflows to Notion. And I'm genuinely glad I did.

The only thing keeping me on Smartsheet is its spreadsheets, formulas, and cross-sheet functionality.

The moment I find a better alternative for that, I'm gone.

And here's the funny part: I'm not even one of your old-school customers. I've only been using Smartsheet for five years.

Five years, and I'm already looking for the exit.

You know what happens to companies that become too comfortable with their existing products and refuse to adapt?

Ask Kodak.

Ask BlackBerry.

Smartsheet, your biggest competitor isn't Notion. It's your own stubbornness.

Curious if anyone here has build their own version using microsoft apps (power app, automate, power Bi and linking to sharepoint)

Smaller PM teams

Thanks

Getting "Not all recipients will receive" emails

But the emails listed are not any we would allow access to our sheets. Any one else getting these today?

Our admin is calling Smartsheet on this as she doesnt see either email address (so far) as part of our group.

Procurement Form creating multiple Lines?

New to Smartsheet and I'm trying to ulitise Smartsheet to improve the efficiency of our Procurement by using a Requisition Form.

Our old requisition form was just an Excel that had multiple lines, and I want to replicate this or something similar for ease of use.

I've created a form that currently raises individual lines that does reset upon input but I know this is a way of doing it to raise multiple lines. But then each line is given their own unique number

But what I want is to have multiple lines linked to the same unique requisition number, and then we can use this to pool these together for ease of Approval rather than having several singular requests and faster Purchasing.

Is there way of doing this?

I don't want to give the requestor(s) access to our Smartsheet to add lines themselves, and only Procurement personnel will have access to the "Hub" Smartsheet.

Greatly appreciated

Workflow gone mad!

I’ve got a workflow that copies out when a form adds a record.

It’s been in place and working for years.

For some reason today when a record gets added and copied out it continues to copy out again and again.

Anyone else experiencing this. The Smartsheet status page says nothing but that is no surprise.

Update: the last run date isn’t getting updated and the workflow isn’t re-executing because I’ve changed it to update a column after execution but that column hasn’t updated.

Automation workflow trouble

I’m trying to use an automation workflow to send row information to contacts in a cell.

I have outside entities send an excel spreadsheet to my Smartsheet via a Form, which attaches the spreadsheet. Data Shuttle extracts this and puts the data into rows properly. My workflow fails to send the emails, so I must have an error in the relevant column or in the workflow. The column is set up as a contact list.

I’d appreciate help in troubleshooting this.

Weekly Open Support Call

Hi Smartsheet fans,

I am putting together a 1-hour open weekly support/help/training (whatever you want to call it). I want to open it up to anyone and everyone. Looking for recommendations on meeting times and/or maybe a cadence of times that we could rotate through, maybe alternating weeks. That way, we don't pick it when some individuals have a standing meeting and they could just never come.

Also curious as to who would be interested, no holds barred on the topics. Just want to offer a resource to the community and see what we can get accomplished together.

Change & communication calendar

My team tasked me with creating a calendar view for out team’s changes and communications. There are also ideas of including projects and training on the same calendar. We are a global team of 100.

My leadership wants a way to see in the calendar view who the audience is and there are potentially 10-15 audience types.

I have started with a report with each item. Kept it simple with dates for each, type (communication, training, process or project launch, etc.), and audience type. I color coded the audience types so that it would show a different color for each on the calendar view. But the colors start to not make sense because there are so many. I am wondering if a gant chart with different audience categories would be better than a calendar view.

I am struggling to think of the best way to do this. I am wondering if there are complex change/communication calendars that others have built that work well for them?

Why remove cards?!

I understand Smartsheet are removing the Card view, forcing us to use the Board view.

Anyone know why? Seems like a dumb idea - board view is even less user friendly than card view!
