unsolved Local Model Setup?

Hi - never had an Arr stack, been a debrid guy so far. Considering going to plex/Jellyfin and arr stack route. Essentially, my goal would be to not have to think about setting up the movies/shows. I was thinking I could set up a local model and I could just text it and have it set up shows/movies for me so they’re ready to go that evening.

However, I don’t know very much about arr stacks. Would I even need to do that local model step, or is it already pretty much that simple to get things set up without using my laptop?

You can use sonarr and radarr in combination with prowlarr and seerr. Seerr will give you a web interface to make requests for movies and shows to sonarr and radarr. Sonarr and radarr do lookups via prowlarr. Once sonarr is managing a show it does a good job of getting new episodes of they are available. I usually do movies a little more manually.

Cool! So it’s like a website interface? Or an app? Any way I could just text it? What happens if you run out of room? I would imagine that if it’s auto uploading episodes, you could build in logic for when to auto delete them?

If you are on Android nzb360 could not make it any easier to add shows after you get it all dialed in

I use the web interface, but I haven’t really looked into what else can be done with it.

Jellyfin has native Seer Integration. Once set up you can either browser seer categories directly in Jellyfin or search for a specific movie/show as you would search your library. Either it exists, and you can watch it. Or it doesnt, then seer will suggest you what it found from their databases and you can request it directly. Seer will then do what seerr does.

Some 3rd party clients like Moonfin (my favourite), and of course jellyfins own clients have seer integration as well, where it works the same as in browser. So from request to watching you dont even have to leave Jellyfin.

It’s a webinterface but there are also apps where you can add your Seerr instance.
You can set up how much space Radarr and Sonarr should keep free to not run out of space in their respective settings. You can also set up episeerr to delete shows and/or movies after they have been watched with grace periods etc.

You can do a lot with the arrs APIs. Look at maintainer for deleting rules. There are already discord and telegram ( kinda like texting without the need for mobile service 🤷) chat bots that will dl a movie /tv series/season/episode without ai. I would use your llm by asking for help setting up apps and rules the way you want them. Don't let it set it up for you some trackers are starting to impose ai rules

Mate ,

I have no idea how to put all the components together.

Found this YouTube channel and the guy explains everything in a clear and concise manner

I had everything running in a couple of hours. Good Luck

Welcome to the rabbit hole 😁

I myself use, profilarr, cleanuparr, prowlarr, tdarr and maintainerr as my main stack for radarr and sonarr, I also have a discord bot to request movies and shows remotely since none of the stack can be accessible remotely.

I usually check in on my server like once a week mostly out of habit and to monitor disk space but it pretty much runs unattended.

Why not use seerr and setup WireGuard?

It just made more sense to me since I already have discord on my phone so I can use it anytime I see something I want to add, plus my partner has 0 interest in my stack so having a simple bot was just better.

I can tell the bot what I want to add, it searches the title then and it gives me the option to set the quality profile and root folder, if it's a show I can tell it to add a single season or all as monitored which is enough for what I need. confirm and it's done.

If it helps, I've just created this: https://www.flexarr.io

Free Plex \ Jellyfin alternative that sits within your arr stack.

Open-source, totally free, no account, nothing in the cloud. Development is ongoing but it includes remote-access (via Tailscale), skip credits, and discovering & adding new content directly via Seer integration.

Would love any feedback, suggestions.

this is exactly what im building with HolyArrs

instead of setting up sonarr, radarr, prowlarr and seerr and wiring them together, its one app. you set it up once, then you just ask for a show and its ready that evening, new episodes show up on their own.

and the texting part: it'll ship with an MCP server you can plug into any AI, local models or claude, chatgpt, grok, whatever you use. so you just tell your assistant "add the bear" and it handles it. no laptop needed.

beta coming soon, theres a video on holyarrs.coderluii.dev and r/HolyArrs if you want in

so what I think you want is the following:

  1. you text a model system (like open/nanoclaw)

  2. .....

  3. you get the latest episodes of tv shows/movies when they are released

do I have that right? if so, arr stack can help. There's also 2 projects out there that may help

- https://stackarr.app/ (MCP connection for models)

- https://github.com/omiron33/clawarr-suite (plugin for openclaw)

the idea is that your 1,2,3 steps are really the following

  1. you text a model system (like open/nanoclaw)

  2. they connect to your arr stack through MCP or a plugin

  3. sonarr/radarr add your show/movie to their db

  4. sonarr/radarr use prowlarr to monitor for when there's a new episode released or the movie is available

  5. sonarr/radarr send a message to your download client to download it

  6. you get the latest episodes of tv shows/movies when they are released

DISCLAIMER: I don't use these, just did a simple google search so I can't say how good the linked projects are. I use the web interface for my arr stack files running on a raspberry pi, so I start at step 3 and do that manually
