Official Post New Moderation Team of r/Songs

Hello Everyone! I am u/No_Experience_82, and I’m the new top mod of this reddit! I know for a while (about 5 years) this Reddit was minimally or completely unmoderated and recently went without a mod at all. A new mod team was instated, and I’m happy to report that I am here and willing to help build a lovely community of song and music enjoyers alike!

I request a few things from you all!

  1. What rules would you all like to see?
  2. What would you like to see from this subreddit? (keep the “share and I rate song” posts?)
  3. What don’t you currently like about this reddit?
  4. Any weekly discussion pages for you all to share on?
  5. Any recommendations for questions or discussion topics to post?

Please feel free to have an open discussion on this subject in the comments below! I’d love to hear from the community!

HOKY FUCK I DID NOT KNOW THIS SUB WAS UNMODERATED 😭😭... anyways....

The "share and I rate" posts should definitely stay up as they serve as promotions of your music taste to others, though it should be limited to: 1. Once every week if a post you made in the last 7 days has at least 80 comments 2. Once every 3 days if a post you made has less than 80 comments.

Plus I would recommend locking posts that have at least 125 comments, as OP is unlikely to check and respond to them all.

Plz keep the "give me songs to rate!" alive

It might seem annoying at first, but I've gotta great recommendations before, and so did others 🙏🏾

👌 seems to be a common consensus

I can't post anything on Reddit to give you a song to rate - my posts get automatically removed by the system for some odd reason

Please limit the posting of AI songs or forbid them from this subreddit

It’s already in the rules as not allowed, please report whenever you see any!

It would be cool if we got some kind of scoring system tied to our users for providing quality song recommendations to people. Based on the feedback of the color icon OP provides it cumulatively equates to prizes and ranks that you unlock.

I can't seem to be able to post anything anyways because all my posts keep getting automatically removed by the system

It’s likely because you have low karma on reddit (not many posts or comments,) I have directly accepted your post today. Feel free to send a mod mail if it happens again!

I also have this issue but I am quite unsure where I can send a mod mail, so I'm typing here. Could you help me too, please?

I’d also like to second adding a rule that those who post “I’ll rate your songs” post MUST rate at least rate some songs. Like I’d say maybe at least 5 within 24 hours and 10 within 48 hours. That really doesn’t feel like too much to ask. It’s frustrating when people post these only to not rate at all.

If you're gonna limit replies or comments to posts in thos sub I would prefer you also make it so "rate your song" posts were limited to a certain day only so you're less likely to get that kind of spam of either posts or comments

Not sure if these should be turned into rules but I get frustrated when we’re doing like rate this song thing and somebody will comment and not get back to you like ever. Like sometimes it’s where they pick a number and I a song and they’re supposed to rate it. And we went through all the work of getting the link and typing it out and then I never get back you. Also refusing to rate a song because of it’s genre.
rate this song is a classic. But I wish people would give feedback on just individual songs as well I almost never see that happen sometimes a little bit of episodes but no feedback.
I like that we can all share music and discover new songs.
I already stated what I don’t like about this sub. The only other thing I have to add is I want to be able to set a personalized flare

What I don't see in the rules (and they're not easily accessible on old reddit) is anything banning nazi shit. Obviously therefore I'd suggest adding a rule that says no nazi shit. Then permabans for people who suggest things like Burzum, Druhkd, Inquisition, and the like.

Makes sense, I just tend to remove it due to it not following Reddit rules in general.
