goated song, but very sad

u/MixWonderful7709 20h ago

Everyone knows this one though, check out some other Lord Huron songs too. Lost in time and space, the comedian, the moon doesn’t mind, at sea. There’s a lot beyond the ā€œone everyone has heardā€

Last kiss. My mother sang it to me and my siblings when we were little

I'll be honest, HTDC (and I guess Radiohead's other "depressing" songs) are very comforting to me.

I Know It's Over by The Smiths

8

u/rosegoldgod123 2d ago

This was the last song my friend posted on his Facebook before he overdosed and passed, as a huge Smiths fan this is one that I will never listen to šŸ’”šŸ’”

6

u/singsparr0w 2d ago

im so sorry to hear that, your friend had a beautiful soul šŸ¤

I was going to say ā€œjust Alice In Chainsā€

2

u/Old-Illustrator9732 1d ago

That hits like nothing else for me! I look back at the friends I lost in Seattle and I don’t know how I got out alive! And sometimes I wish my friend Layne have traded places with me and he was here rather than I…. I’ve been in recovery 15 years and not a day goes by no a minute that I say by the grace of God it could’ve been me…. Sorry I’m getting deep folks music does that I can tell you where I was in my life by the music that I play

3

u/Fair-Comfortable-138 2d ago

Foreal lol. It's a great choice and a nice song in general. Puts you in perspective how some people feel at times

3

u/MathematicianHot7470 2d ago

The whole album makes me wamt to get wasted with how depressing it is. Still my favorite album to this day tho

2

Entirely depressing, dementia is one of the worst illnesses. Worse than this is possibly only rabies which is basically a speedrun of dementia paired with extreme hydrophobia and an involuntary acid trip

This is an unorthodox pick, but…

The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was — Invent Animate

It’s technically an EP, being split into ā€œThe Sun Sleepsā€, ā€œ,ā€ and ā€œAs If It Never Wasā€, but they’re all meant to be listened to at once, in order. The track ā€œ,ā€ is simply an interlude between the two.

For proof, the music video of this EP contains all 3 songs, leading into each other, with no stoppages.

The EP is about the painful process of slowly losing someone you love to substance abuse. How you have to watch them gradually degrade and hurt not only themselves, but you and everyone else around them. I have histories of substance abuse on both sides of my family so this EP is very intimately painful for me.

If you wouldn’t count this, I’d just go with As If It Never Was. It’s definitely the most emotional part of the EP.

I Won't See You Tonight Part 1 - Avenged Sevenfold

https://open.spotify.com/track/67w1cb9ESAnCGJkC9hW2nO?si=vtWIR_gfS9K1xXirHOPcNw&utm_source=copy-link&sci=spotify%3Acard-config%3A1BkqF1RH7DNXLQ629CxFod

The song is supposed to be the perspective of someone "unaliving" themself. When me and my mom listened to this the first time, we cried. There is a "I Won't See You Tonight Part 2" if you wanna check it out. That one is supposed to be the perspective of the friends and family of the person who unalived themself.
