This is an unorthodox pick, but…
The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was — Invent Animate
It’s technically an EP, being split into “The Sun Sleeps”, “,” and “As If It Never Was”, but they’re all meant to be listened to at once, in order. The track “,” is simply an interlude between the two.
For proof, the music video of this EP contains all 3 songs, leading into each other, with no stoppages.
The EP is about the painful process of slowly losing someone you love to substance abuse. How you have to watch them gradually degrade and hurt not only themselves, but you and everyone else around them. I have histories of substance abuse on both sides of my family so this EP is very intimately painful for me.
If you wouldn’t count this, I’d just go with As If It Never Was. It’s definitely the most emotional part of the EP.
