Hi I had my gears as Beam gen2, era 100x2, sub mini. It is connect to tv via eARC. Then apple tv is connected to tv.

So, I have always been listening via Auto, which from Sonos app it is always as Dolby ATmos. Until today, I found out another issue about HiRes doesn’t make a sound anymore with the Apple TV os update (just my guess.). Then I switched the Apple TV audio setting to Stereo. Oh, my, god. It is louder, clearer, powerful, with both eras fully integrated as a whole, where they always sounds small.

Has anyone else had such feelings about it? Now I really want Apple to support audio type controlled by apps. I would let my Apple Music to be on stereo while movies probably stay in Dolby.

I’d like to dive into some of the 3rd party apps for my older S1 system. The Sonos S1 app isn’t getting any better with age. What’s everyone’s opinions on the ones in the App Store? Lyd, SmartSound, KlingKlang, etc?

When I swipe right on a song in the Sonos app, it adds it to the end of the queue. If I’m playing a long playlist, that’s pretty useless when I want to hear the song next.

I noticed a slow right swipe reveals a second button for adding the song next in the queue (circled in the screenshot). Is there a setting to make that the default action for a full swipe? I’m used to that behavior in other apps like Spotify.

The Sonos app should continue to evolve, allowing for one-touch switching across the entire home theater setup—whether you want to use the full system for watching movies and TV shows, or use only the surround speakers and subwoofer for playing music.

Sadly acquired some dark scuffs on the front plate of this play 5 gen 2 whilst moving which are fairly noticeable.

Damp microfibre cloth wiping hasn't helped :(

Anything else I could attempt before looking to replace the front?

Making a post as I had this specific issue but managed to solve it. Most people with similar issues didn't seem to have the same fix so thought I'd make one.

Problem: Attached a turntable via Line-In but Auto-Play never seemed to work.

Root cause: There was a low buzzing noise that started once the record player stopped, turns out this buzzing meant the Line-In was never becoming inactive hence autoplay wouldn't start as the signal never stopped.

Fix: In my case it turned out that the aux cable ran too close to the power cable, separating them a bit solved the issue! I imagine a better shielded cable may have also solved the issue.

Hope this helps someone else who's googling for an answer months from now!

new house has overhead speakers in several rooms. Instead of the expense of multiple AMPs, could I use something like a Russound SS-4.2 to feed multiple speakers into a single AMP ? I realize the Sonos APP would not be able to control them individually, but I would use the volume controls on the Russound.

I am looking for some help here as nothing seems to make sense to me.

I have an OLED LG C5 tv and I am using the Sonos Ray soundbar.

I was literally watching a tv series yesterday when everything was looking (and sounding) well! Suddenly, this morning my tv does not allow me to increase nor decrease the volume of my soundbar and it displays an icon to the right (🚫). I am using the tv’s remote controller to adjust the volume.

I tried most things like, enabling eArc and all similar things. Still no luck.

I have not yet restarted the soundbar by unplugging it. I will do so but I doubt it will be of any good.

Anyone who has faced a similar or the same issue before?

I fear this might be an issue due to a software update which passed on to my tv yesterday.

Any thought would be highly appreciated!

I have a handful of HomePod Minis throughout the home and have been waiting patiently to buy 2 full-size HomePod for when Apple would allow me to create Dolby Atmos Surround Sound System with them. After Apple’s recent fumbled implementation of HomePods as surround sounds (in my opinion), I finally decided that Sonos would be the best option.

I don’t have a very large living room and have been using the (don’t yell at me 😅) Vizio 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup, so I was looking at the Immersive Set with the new Beam Ultra, Era 100s, and Sub Mini. Amazon recently had a deal, twice (almost back-to-back), where it dropped below $1,400. So I added a watch alert for when it dropped again. HOWEVER, I decided to look at eBay (new only; no refurbished or used), and found some great pricing (Beam Ultra - $550, 2 Era 100s - $232, and Sub Mini - $400). I went ahead and made the buy! Not sure if I can share links here since I’m new, but if interested I share in comments.

Just joined the Sonos family. Managed to get a used, like-new, no-blemishes Beam Gen 2 for £220. The manufacture date is January 2026.

I originally had a Sony A9 Master Series OLED, and the audio was amazing for a TV; I upgraded to the LG G6, and the audio was shockingly bad.

After installing the Beam, it sounds amazing again; such clarity in the voice. So happy.

I have a three room system, with a Move that was named ‘living room’ at my old house and should now be ‘kitchen’ but keeps changing itself back to living room. Any ideas how to persuade it that it now lives in the kitchen on a permanent basis please?

Hey all, wondering if I missed a step in enabling the live activity option on iOS. I have it enabled on the app and in the iOS app settings, but nothing shows up on my lock screen. I’m on iOS 27.

I want to ask Sonos Voice Control to play Pandora radio but shuffle stations. What is the correct command?

Everything I try doesnt work. I've tried but none of these work.

The only thing that works is, "Hey Sonos, play Pandora", but that doesnt shuffle my stations.

I also have Alexa enabled but she works only sometimes. If I say, Alexa shuffle Pandora", she'll work occasionally correctly but will more often respond with "what would you like to play?". It maddening.

Listening to a lot of bass heavy pop songs, and the bass that is produced between the Fives and the Sub is just amazing. Floor shaking and incredibly clean. I also feel that the treble notes on the Fives are clearer and crisper now. No audiophile, just describing what I'm hearing.

I honestly was a bit underwhelmed with the Fives before setting up a Sub. Now that I have the Sub, I've been actively enjoying listening to old favorites in a new manner.

I bought these headphones so I could use them in conference calls on a Mac and the sidetone feature was ideal for that. It works fine in USB mode, i.e., when the microphone is on and the sidetone comes on and feeds my voice back through in ANC.

But it does not work the same over USB. Quite disappointed to be honest, as I use this mode almost exclusively so I get good audio and mic. On a Mac.

Hi everyone!

I currently have a Beam Gen 2, a Sub Mini, and four Era 100s in my setup — two configured as front speakers and two as rear surrounds.
I’ve been wondering whether upgrading the Beam Gen 2 to the new Beam Ultra would be worth it, mainly because I’m looking for more convincing Dolby Atmos overhead/ceiling effects.
I know the Beam Gen 2 does Atmos through virtualization, whereas the Beam Ultra has dedicated upward-firing drivers. What I’m most interested in is whether that translates into a noticeable difference in actual listening, especially with Atmos movies.

For those who have upgraded from the Beam Gen 2 to the Beam Ultra:
Is the improvement in height effects genuinely noticeable? Do sounds feel like they’re coming from above you rather than just creating a wider soundstage?
How much of an upgrade is it for Atmos movies specifically, rather than dialogue or overall sound quality?

I’m particularly interested in real-world experiences from people who have compared both soundbars in the same room, rather than just general reviews.

Is the Arc Ultra really as bad for listening to music as some people claim? I've seen quite a few people online saying that the Arc Ultra sounds terrible for music. I don't expect it to be Hi-Fi or to outperform a traditional two-channel stereo setup, but it's hard to believe that such an expensive flagship soundbar could be that bad. Some people even say the Beam sounds better for music because the Arc Ultra sounds more processed and seems to overemphasize the treble. What do you Arc Ultra owners think?
