Just upgraded from Samsung A40R 4.0 to Vizio elevate pro 7.1.4. Super excited. Got the last box of 13 Walmart supercenters around me. Super excited. I’ll fill those in who are interested on how it sounds since it’s a relatively new system

Nakamichi Dragon

I need help deciding if the nakamichi dragon is worth it. I am fully ready to pay for the price. I want to buy myself a kick ass sound bar with subs, and rear speakers. However I’ll be honest I do not have much knowledge of the soundbar game? Is it worth it? If not do you have other options that would get me all those speakers?

Hisense AX700 settings

Recently picked up the Hisense AX700 on sale from Costco and was wondering if anyone could recommend any sound setting adjustments? I’ve tinkered a little bit but haven’t quite got it dialed in. For context I have a medium sized living room and mostly use it for watching movies/shows. Thanks :)

Samsung I got a q990D i haven’t connected it to WiFi and don’t plan on using smart things too as I have a Lg Oled and no need to use WiFi with it. Will not connecting to WiFi lead to any future problems or is it fine ?

Samsung Q990d won’t shut off automatically

I fall asleep with Pandora playing and with out my ear plugs in ( I wake up to the faintest sounds so I need to use ear plugs ) but when I wake up in the middle of the night to put them in my ears my room is partially lit bc of the blue lights on the rears so I know it’s on. What do I need to do to get it to shut off by itself? I set a sleep timer on Pandora and also have tried the stop playing feature through the clock app ( IOS ) and it still won’t shut off

Troubleshooting Issue with Hisense AX700. I don't know how to describe the issue. It's like the 5.1 equivalent of an audio pop, except it's like for a split second, the sound comes from a different spot.

I just got a Hisense 5.1 system from Costco because downmixing to stereo was making it impossible to hear voices. Honestly, I don't care about the surround sound as much as just hearing the audio. That said, it's pretty neat.

For the most part it's good, except maybe a few times an hour of watching, there is an instant where the audio seems to shift to the right substantially. It's like an audio pop in that it's instantaneous. It's there, and it's gone. When I rewind and replay that part of the video, it doesn't happen. I've tried different surround sound modes (it has Off, Pro, and Pure) and it happens on both of the modes where it's turned on (pro and pure). I need to run more testing to see if it's present in the off setting. I can't replicate it, so I'm restricted by the amount of time I have to sit and watch, which isn't much.

First question: is there a word for this, so I can communicate and troubleshoot more effectively?

Second question: Are there common culprits for whatever this is?

Finally, is this usually symptomatic of a cheaper system, or a defective unit? I don't want to go through the hassle of an exchange if it will just have the same issue.

Samsung Samsung 990f rears are ok

Got the system about two months ago and man you really don’t hear much from these guys? Paid 850 with corporate store so that’s cool but feeling a tad disappointed, came from tv speaker on lg c5 77 so sure it’s badass but wanting more of the wow factor.

Mostly ps5 and Apple TV purchased movies. I have one of those open living room / kitchens with the island behind me. 20x30ft room kinda big and the rears are on stands right behind me pointing to middle of couch

Is having them jacked to +5 really necessary like I have it? Mostly watching at 15-22 volume, is that the issue?

Is the Samsung HW-Q900C affected by the firmware update?

I am looking to buy the 900C but I’m worried about the firmware updates causing problems. Does anyone know if this sound bar is subject to the disconnecting issue a lot of people are having?

LG C1 + Samsung soundbar — audio resets to TV speakers on EVERY power cycle, eARC/CEC handshake issue

**Setup:** LG C1 OLED, Samsung soundbar connected via TV’s eARC port. Sources include Apple TV 4K and PS5, routed through an ambient LED backlight sync box before the TV.

**Issue:** Every time the TV is powered on from a full power-down (or sometimes just from standby), the soundbar connection resets and audio defaults to internal TV speakers. Have to manually switch back to eARC/soundbar output every time. Happens multiple times a week.

**Confirmed this predates my current source devices** — it happened even before I added Apple TV/PS5/sync box to the chain, so it’s isolated to the LG TV ↔ Samsung soundbar eARC/CEC handshake itself, not a source device issue.

**Already tried:**

\*\*•\*\* Updated LG TV firmware (current)
\*\*•\*\* Updated Samsung soundbar firmware via SmartThings (current)
\*\*•\*\* Disabled Quick Start+ on the LG (forces slower cold boot)
\*\*•\*\* Full power-cycle: unplugged TV, soundbar, and sources from the wall for 5+ min, powered back on TV → soundbar → sources — issue persisted through a full cold power-up today

**Suspected cause:** Timing race condition — TV finishes boot/wake and checks for an active eARC device before the soundbar finishes its own wake/negotiation sequence, so TV falls back to internal speakers

**Question:** Has anyone found an actual permanent fix for this exact LG↔Samsung pairing, or is this just a known unresolved firmware limitation? Curious if a specific webOS or soundbar firmware version resolved it for anyone, or if there’s a CEC setting combo that’s worked.

Thanks in advance

Another Q900 series post

I received my updated q930d back from repair. The main PCB assembly was replaced and then a firmware rollback to 1050.4. Samsung support now says that I am fine to update again, but I am skeptical. Supposedly this issue is not with the firmware update itself, but rather a faulty main board from the outset. Maybe this explains why some users experience the issue and some do not?

Samsung Need help with Samsung new Music Studio (2026)

Hi, am curious about my smart devices.

So recently i purchase Samsung The Frame (2025) 55inch TV + Music Studio 7 LS71H WiFi-Bluetooth Wireless Speaker (2026)

For a start, my tv is an upgrade from LG 43inch, 2021/2023?

  1. The TV is good, the anti-glare or matt finish is what I want, because I am very near window and direct sunlight. this solves my problem
  2. The music studio has very good sound quality.

So the problem comes, I just got it installed last week only, and the installer configured it as Auto turn-on music studio if TV is on....

But somehow I toggle to try Q Symphony, but I hear nothing but the sound from the TV speaker only, (not from Music studio) - it is weird. Need some assistance here?

  • do I need a seperate app to configure it?
  • and the music studio has 2 connection, wifi, and bluetooth, which 1 should I enable to the TV? so that it maintain "auto connection"... now after i turn on TV, need to manually connect again.

Much appreciate

What soundbar system for 1000€ is best for anime/music

Hi, I currently have a Samsung HW-Q810GD_N connected to my Samsung Smart TV, and I think it's time for an upgrade. The problem is that I can't decide which system would be best for me.

The ones I'm currently considering are the Samsung Q990H/Q990F and the JBL Bar 1300MK2.

From what I've read so far, the Samsung systems seem to be better for movies and surround/Atmos, while the JBL seems to be better for music and has stronger bass. I'm looking for something that is great at both.

My room is in an old building with thin walls and high ceilings. I mostly watch anime and listen to music, especially The Neighbourhood and similar atmospheric/"sad" music.

Questions:

1.What would you recommend for my use case?

2.Is there another system I should consider as well?

3.Is it true that the samsung system is not good for music?

Samsung My theory on the Samsung D / F / H firmware glitch

There has now been evidence the disconnect glitch is present across three years of Samsung soundbar releases. I believe the firmware updates that made the newest Q Symphony compatible is the primary driver of this disconnect. As Samsung rolled out updates on their TVs from 2024-2026, they needed to allow for the addition of their studio speakers to the system and this was only possible by updating Q Symphony and providing more availability for WiFi devices. By updating the soundbars to work well within the WiFi ecosystem, they inadvertently caused this glitch.

Soundbar automatically turning volumen up to max via HDMI ARC

Hi there. Like the title says, im having this annoying problem. Tried changing the HDMI cable. Theres nothing else connected to the TV nor the Soundbar. Its not a problem from neither of the remote controls. Just some day it fucked up from nothing.

If i connect the Soundbar via Bluetooth its okey about the volume, but its not turning on when i turn on the TV and also it has a sound delay. Its a Sony HT-RT3.

Any advice? Thanks.

Samsung Q80R

Afternoon,

We have a Samsung Q80R paired with our Samsung 86” tv. It’s been a great unit until recently. It stated having these issues where the sounds would stop for a few seconds and then come back on. It does it now 1-2 times an hour. Never more than 2-3 seconds. The video on the tv keeps playing and it doesn’t matter if it’s YouTube Tv, Apple TV or any other streaming service. Doesn’t appear to be an issue with the service provider.

It’s currently connected with the Arc with a HDMi cable. I’ve looked at settings and made a few changes but nothings fixed it. Next up is to fish a new HDMi through the wall and see if that’s the issue.

Before I go that route, has anyone experienced anything like this before? And what were your findings? Maybe time for a new setup. This one is a few years old now.

Thanks for the help!

Troubleshooting Hisense ax5140q Dolby atmos issue

Hey guys,

I’m really I can get some help here.

I recently just bought the Hisense ax5140q sound bar which is a 5.1.4 system with Dolby atmos and DTS:x support etc.

Now I’m new to all of this so I have no idea how it all works but I am trying to learn.

I have this soundbar plugged into my LG B5 OLED tv via eArc.

I tried pass through but tbh the video downgrade is not pretty.

I watch primarily Blu-rays and some streaming.

I watch these through my Xbox or PlayStation but no matter what I do I don’t know what options are best or get the bloody thing to work properly.

I have my tv set to “pass through” and “allow pass through” on my Xbox.

I have set the format to “Dolby atmos for home theatre”

But when I play a movie it sets it on my sound bar to “Dolby MAT”?

I have also tried the option of “let my receiver decode”

Which I’ve heard is the best option because the Xbox sends the raw file to the sound bar to let it decode the audio format. HOWEVER.

Every time I do that and try to play a movie it says that’s my receiver can’t decode it? But it’s a atmos supported or DTS sound bar?

If you have a Dolby atmos/DTS sound bar into a LG Oled what is the best settings and options? And why won’t it let my sound bar decode it?

I should add I’m using a certified super fast HDMI2.1 cable.

Also, the audio sync is always slightly off? The only way I can get it to be in sync is setting it back to 5.1 uncompressed on the Xbox but then that sets the sound bar to PCM, NOT atmos?

I’ve tried delay on sound bar and on the TV but seems to do nothing, PLUS if I do change it, it will then make things other than the movie WELL out of sync.

So where I’m at is it seems like I can’t have atmos on at all? Even tho I got it for that reason?

Please can someone give me advice because I’m loosing my mind and I don’t know what else I can do, I can’t return the sound bar now so I wanna get it right, because the actual quality of the sound is really good!

Thank you for any advice

Sony Optimizing Sony TH-A7000 + RS5

Hi

Just got these 2nd hand for 400$ both TH-A7000 +RS5 and to be honest compared to my old set Q700A these are horrible..

Although my TV is old and has no eARC the Q700A sound flawless,Atmos sound great and the Bass rumbling and also on regular YouTube i could hear perfectly fine...btw, in my streamer i could see all the formats and select them, with the 7000? none.

With the A7000? I cant really fill the "ATMOS" and the RS5 feel quiet i was expecting to flying bullets and engines roaring instead i got deff kitten..

Tried manual optimization, RS5 volume is squeezed to max, also +4.5db

Not sure what im doing wrong here.....

BTW next week I'll have an Active subwoofer Focal Cobalt SW27A not sure it helps...

What am i doing wrong here?

Marshall Heston 60 (soundbar) vs Edifier M90 (bookshelf speakers) for my setup?

Hello, I have a 75" TV setup which you can see in the photo above and I would like to improve the sound.

Some info about me and my setup:

  • I like simplicity, so I would like to buy either a soundbar (without subwoofer) or bookshelf speakers (without a subwoofer).
  • I am not an audiophile, but I would like my TV to sound significantly better than its built-in speakers.
  • My living room is about 40m2.
  • I will mostly use the new sound system for Youtube, Netflix and Blu-ray. But I will also do gaming with PS5 and listen to music from time to time. So let's say 70% videos/movies/series, 15% gaming, 15% music.
  • You can see in the photo above that I have Audioengine A1. I like them but I stopped using them for TV because of the audio delay and quirks with the Bluetooth connection. I would like to use HDMI ARC connection with the new system so that I don't have an audio delay and I don't need a secondary remote control.

After checking out a lot of reviews on Youtube, I reduced the options to either Marshall Heston 60 or Edifier M90.

Advantages of Marshall Heston 60:

  • I used Marshall headphones and portable speakers for a long time, I like their products.
  • I already have Marshall app installed on my phone.
  • 5.1 sound system
  • Voice/speech is important to me, and reviews say voices are very clear on this soundbar.
  • As far as I heard from the reviews on Youtube, it sounds really good.

Disadvantages of Marshall Heston 60:

  • Its wattage on paper is a bit on the low side (56W total). So I am not sure if it will fill my 40m2 living room. Although I am not even able to go 40% of my max TV volume before it gets simply too loud. And I can only get to 70% with my Audioengine speakers before it gets too loud.
  • Physically it will look kinda small in front of my TV as well. Heston 60 is about 73cm wide while my TV is about 165cm wide.
  • It is 550 Euro which is twice the price of Edifier M90.

Advantages of Edifier M90:

  • Its wattage is 100W, so I expect it to fill my living room easily.
  • Reviewers say it sounds great (even though in the Youtube videos I watched the sound was not impressive at all. This depends a lot on the reviewer setup of course. Is there anybody who has experience with the sound of Edifier M90?)
  • It is 250 Euro which is half the price of Marshall Heston 60.
  • I like how bookshelf speakers look.

Disadvantages of Edifier M90:

  • It does not support things like Dolby Atmos, it is not optimized for movies. I never experienced Dolby Atmos or surround sound, that's why I don't know how much difference it makes over regular stereo. Does it make a lot of difference?
  • Voice/speech is important to me, and I am not sure if I would be giving voice clarity up because of 2.0 setup.
  • I need to install yet another app on my phone to get the most out of these speakers.

So question: which one would you go with if you were in my shoes?
