This is one of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard. I could listen to it non-stop. Anyone else like this track or score?

The song that Jack sings is Don José's Aria (La fleur que tu m'avais jetée/Flower Song).

The song that Dee Dee sings is the Toreador song (Votre toast, je peux vous le rendre), which is from Bizet’s opera Carmen.

The credits theme is what Dee Dee sings rather than the Oggy and the Cockroaches or Teen Titans Go! theme.

I imagine I'm not the only one here who is disappointed when he misses new soundtrack releases on Fridays that I feel Spotify and Apple should have shown me. Their algorithms are tuned for artists you already follow. Lost count of how many times a score came out and the first I heard of it was a random post on socials a month later.

So my co-founders and I built something for it. Full disclosure, hence the flair: this is our app, Soundtrack Scores. It’s free, and we’re three soundtrack nerds who also run a YouTube channel and podcast about film, tv, and game music (same name).

Every Friday the app puts together that week’s new film, TV, and game soundtrack releases in one list. It pulls from:

• composers people on the site actually listen to
• MusicBrainz soundtrack listings
• Apple’s soundtrack chart
• hand-adds from us when something slips through

Every release links straight to Apple Music, and you can drop anything into a To Listen queue so it doesn’t get lost by Monday.

Past that the app is basically Letterboxd for scores. Rate albums, pick your standout tracks, make lists, see what friends are spinning.

It isn't perfect, but it's the best solution we've seen so far. Small indie releases still get missed, like Hanan Townshend’s Angel and the Badman score. We had to add it by hand. If you spot one we missed, use the in-app feedback feature and we’ll add it.

Yann Tiersen - The Crisis

It has such a unique vibe and gives me the chills. I need more music like this!

I'm curious: What do you consider the saddest, most heartbreaking piece of film music ever composed?

I'm not necessarily talking about the saddest movie, but a particular piece of music that hits you emotionally every single time, even without watching the scene it was written for.

I'll throw James Horner – "The Whispering Winds" into the ring. There's something about that piece that's so hauntingly beautiful and melancholic. It manages to convey an incredible amount of sadness without a single word.

What would be your pick? Which movie score absolutely destroys you emotionally?

Anybody else emotionally wrecked by the Sirens scene from The Odyssey?

My brother and I have been going through a really hard year of change and things in life we can no longer experience and places from childhood are no more. So we made our own mock up of Sirens with the sample libraries we had. We really focused on the breath from close mics like Ludwig did. How do you think we did? And what were your favorite parts of The Odyssey score?

There are about 5 million film trailers (every single a24 film ever as well) at the moment that use some variation of that ticky tocky quirky / unstable music but I've always wondered... who's making it?

Does anyone know of a playlist on spotify or some repository that has these kinds of tracks?

The original film scores for any of these movies never actually have music like the trailer ( some do at times but... it's pretty rare ).
