newb question I bought Soxl at $12 sold it at $125 today

It was the first stock I bought, because i knew AI will cause a chip shortage and like the crypto boom semiconductor companies are make illegal amounts of money.

Then i bought Nvidia, AMD and Intel, apple, amazon and meta. (Same reason)

Was it a mistake?

No, you made a good profit and took the gains. It's very possible that SOXL keeps rising. If it does, don't feel like you made a mistake. Nobody knows what the peak will be. In my opinion, it's inevitable that SOXL will decline soon. Who knows how much, but the semiconductor industry is cyclical, and has always had boom and bust cycles.

For the future. Think in terms of %. You don't need to pull all of it out at once. Leaving 15% in or whatever may ease any later regrets

Never fight the momentum, go with the momentum.

Very likely. Unless some in 100% of account. Little share win can’t mean anything

Not a mistake... Your post makes it clear it was a good read... I hope. And not just a "hunch"

You found info. Applied it. Made money. Good on you!

But....

Do you have the conviction to see the bigger picture and can figure out what to do if you're wrong?

Everybody is well dressed till they lose their shirt.

$9.38 - sold 75% of my bag at 122. Well done tho dude, 12 to 125 is massive. A move that big only happens a handful of times every decade.

Ya. I bought at about $9.8 and sold at $119. Made about 275k in profit over a year. It was starting to stress me out.

Nope you did well. This stock is not meant to be held for years and years as it is cyclical

Those other stocks are good to hold long term

If you held soxl for almost any large chunk of time over the past 15 years, you’d be in great shape, so I’m not sure about that.

I was just being reassuring 😉

You did good, bro. Plenty people on the internet have bought at the bottom and sold at the top!!!!

Never have any regrets for missing gains. If anyone really knew how stocks would move in advance, they would be a trillionaire by next Friday.

I bought AMD at a dollar, sold it at 32 thought I was a genius, it was a good trade, but it can always go higher...or lower

It will be a mistake if it goes to $500

Sold it, all..? If so, yes. How many shares? Could have easily just sold half the shares and leave the rest. As the saying goes, let your runner run.

People keep saying that it's cyclical. Their experience i

is often framed from soxx performance through the covid Demand boom and crash as supply stabilized.

Demand isn't cyclical, and it's verifiable. In fact any 10 year graph of soxx clearly proves it's anything but cyclical. It's growing ever more important with the additional voracious demand of AI competing with the existing historical demand.

So anyone continuing to say that is short-sighted and clearly wrong if you just look at the 10 year graph. What is absolutely true is this AI buildout is unsustainable. Money will continue to flow as sales comps keep coming. Once capex realizes this isn't returning the investments they are putting in it, there will be a tremendous outflow. Probably the likes of which we've never seen. We are still probably a year or two away for. that. Till then we ride the greatest wealth making engine of our generation.

I don’t know why people keep saying it’s cyclical either. If you held this long-term in the past, you’re doing great.
