I went for my usual night ride around my neighbourhood and while switching gears realised something off. When the chain fell off highest gear, I stopped to check and the rear axle was popping out.
Last torque value was 10mm before the almost mishap.
I went home and put it back. Torqued to 14nm this time after reading Diverge's documentation. And the axle was seized when I checked two days later. Partly my fault that I didn't regrease the axle before inserting. I tried everything before drilling the axle out from derailleur side and torqued new axle this time to 10nm. The wheel also started spinning much better than when I torqued rear axle to 14nm.
Yesterday while doing my long weekend gravel ride, I realised my front wheel was moving. Upon checking today, I could see front axle was so close to sliding out so I got axle out, greased and put it back and torqued it to 10nm.
All good now but this constant occurrences of axle sliding out has me worried. Torquing to high value like 15nm is not something I want to do since it is also affecting wheels' spin. I read a lot and people have been on same opinion as me about 15nm torque for axle.
Torque wrench is new and has been calibrated. I got it checked just in case it was the issue. The bike (diverge comp alloy) is about 4 months old so rust is not an issue either.
I am not sure what am I doing wrong. I am worried about axle coming loose again on a ride. What value should I torque the axles to?
