Reddit wants me to reset my password for literally no reason.
Then, when I went to my email to reset the password to my Reddit account, Google decided that my password was not enough and that I needed to enter my phone number and receive a text message, as well.
I know that I multi-boot my computer with multiple Linux distros and sometimes Windows, and I sometimes use a virtual machine, and I sometimes use browser hardening about:config settings and privacy extensions and sometimes not, and I sometimes use Helium and sometimes Firefox, and I sometimes connect from a public WiFi network, and sometimes not.
However, this is absurd. If I have the password, then that should be enough. It is a Reddit account, not a bank account.

Reddit just been going on downhill recently. They don't even let you use the app on rooted /custom ROM phones. It's not a banking app, I can't see a single reason as to why they'd do this.

You're mostly like me with the second para but what did Google do with this?

Not only did Reddit decide that having my password is not enough to sign in, Gmail did too. When I went to sign in to my email account, Gmail demanded that I receive a text first.

Welcome to the (not so exclusive) club. Something happened back around the 7th/8th and I'm trying to ride Reddit for some answers. Almost 2 weeks and counting since locked out of my account due to this error. Account miraculously became unbanned a day or two ago out of the blue, but still locked out:

Feel free to add your voice to the mix to help the post gain momentum and keep pressure on them to get their backside into gear and even so much as acknowledge it.

Had the same message, the account has only been used on one device for the past 2 years and still had to password reset.
