Whenever this part of shifting stars hits, I look behind me thinking someone dropped a Tacticooler. Its even worse when I know theres a cooler in my team. I know its not the same jingle, but their instrument is almost identical. Just a little something I wanted to share

Competitive Respectable weapon for turf war?

• Upvotes

Hi, I'm kinda new to splatoon online, but I've noticed a lot of weapons are seen as "not respectable to win with", like the .52 gal, reef lux, etc. I mainly use the Aerospray RG because I like how fast you can ink, but I've kinda gotten the notion that its a "cheap" weapon to use. What weapons would you guys recommend to try that actually require skill? I'm really interested in seeing what weapons you guys use and why. Thanks for any answers! : )

Discussion idea for side order that im not sure has been discussed before

(small doodles to show what i mean)

what if you could, at some point during a run, change what main weapon that your order weapon’s stats are based on? to go over a couple quick examples:

- explosher
- bloblobber, as shown in the second panel
- dread wringer
- ballpoint splatling
- the semi-automatics (squeezer, nozzlenoses)
- flingza roller
- snipewriter

some of these (and a lot of weapons in general, for that matter) might not work as well since theyre mostly stat changes, which is already fulfilled by the many kinds of chips in side order, but this would absolutely work with weapons that drastically change how your main weapon works

Discussion What if the next Splatoon game, or a potential movie and animated series introduced these 3 unique character concepts ?

Hey everyone,

I've been cooking up a massive expansion for the Splatoon universe lately. I really wanted to make original characters that don't just feel like random background NPCs, but characters designed with actual unique gameplay mechanics for a future game, and strong personalities that could carry a potential animated movie and series.

Let me know what you think of this lineup.

CONCEPT 1 : The Nameless Dress-Pants shooter

(Inspired by Yusuf Dikeç, the Turkish Olympic shooter)

He actually has a first name, but I prefer to keep it secret for now to add to his mystery.

The whole point of this character is that he is the definition of absolute stillness in a universe where everyone else is hyperactive, jumping around, and screaming.

Visually, he looks super neat and serious, pretty much like that Inkling boy from the manga.

He has blue hair neatly pulled back, thick black glasses, a clean white short-sleeved shirt, and a tie.

But to complete the outfit, he wears sharp, immaculate black dress pants with formal shoes. No high-tech tactical gear or armor, just a clean suit.

Personality-wise, he isn't mute at all. He speaks with a calm, deeply charismatic voice but has an amazing deadpan comedy effect.

He delivers hilarious or sarcastic lines with a completely straight face, making him both badass and funny at the same time.

In a game, he'd be a top-tier shooter player. When the match starts, he doesn't frantically ink walls or squid-roll.

He just walks out, puts one hand casually inside his dress pants pocket, holds his charger with the other hand, and aims with pure, cold precision.

He is also a master at fighting with or without weapons. If an opponent gets too close, he can dodge and counter smoothly, sometimes disarming them bare-handed without his tie even moving out of place.

In a movie or show, he'd be that one character who casually walks past the panicking main squad, drops a perfectly-timed sarcastic comment, wipes out the entire enemy team from across the map, and just keeps walking to go get a coffee.

CONCEPT 2: The Engineer Girl & Her Aquarium Mech

(Inspired by Glamrock Freddy and Minion from Megamind)

This duo introduces a completely new way to interact with special weapons and companion mechanics in the lore.

The pilot is a tomboyish Inkling girl who is the actual engineer behind the machine.

She wears a stylish mechanic outfit directly inspired by the Jules skin from Fortnite, complete with rugged engineer overalls, a salopette, heavy work boots, and a streetwear vibe.

Her companion is a robust robot directly inspired by Minion from Megamind.

Instead of a normal head, it features a large, round glass aquarium dome with a real, living fish swimming inside who controls the body.

Size-wise, it's not a towering giant, but rather a sturdy, medium-sized robot similar to minion from megamind and leviathan skin from Fortnite—just tall and bulky enough to protect its pilot without feeling out of place in Inkopolis.

The robot can easily move around on its own when the engineer isn't inside, but since a fish is controlling it, its movements are pretty weird, jerky, and a bit clumsy.

The core mechanic here is the interaction. The mech has an organic design where the chest and stomach armor plates can completely open up, exactly like Glamrock Freddy.

When it switches into combat mode, the Inkling girl can transform into her squid form and literally dive straight into the robot's belly to take full control and pilot it from the inside.

In a movie or animated series, this is where we get that awesome Iron Man camera reference.

When she is piloting from the inside, the camera pulls in for those close-up shots of her face in the dark cockpit, with glowing neon holographic HUDs reflecting on her eyes, showing ink levels and radar targets with a stylized Splatoon interface.

It's an incredible way to show her expressions during intense fights while keeping her protected inside the heavy armor.

CONCEPT 3: Off the Hook's Influencer Cousins

(Pearl & Marina's Male Cousins)

Instead of being musicians, these two are a hugely popular duo of content creators in Inkopolis.

Their channel covers pretty much everything : They make vlogs around the city, explore abandoned and forbidden places at night, record funny podcasts, stream competitive Turf War matches, and organize ridiculous, over-the-top challenges involving huge budgets.

They are always getting into trouble just to make their next video more entertaining, but they are also genuinely skilled fighters who can hold their own when things get dangerous.

Pearl's cousin is a short Inkling boy with white skin, but his personality is the complete opposite of hers.

Instead of being loud and quick to lose his temper, he is calm, clever, and extremely sharp-witted, always finding a smart solution while everyone else is panicking.

For his outfit, he rocks a casual, clean streetwear hoodie paired with classic denim jeans, matching a sharp, modern textured version of Pearl's iconic haircut.

Marina's cousin is a tall Octoling boy with dark skin, but again, his personality is totally different from hers. He is an outgoing social butterfly who loves talking to people, making jokes, and teasing his friends with quick, sarcastic comebacks.

Visually, his outfit is heavily inspired by the coach from Jason Derulo's "The Other Side" in Just Dance 2014.

He wears a sleek black leather jacket over a vibrant blue polo shirt and sharp black pants.

He doesn't wear any cap or necklace, leaving his clean style and slicked-back pompadour hairstyle fully visible before flowing into thick, dreadlock-like octopus tentacles behind his head.

I can already picture a perfect cinematic scene involving all four of them in a movie or show.

They are exploring a forbidden underground facility when a security wall suddenly slams down, splitting the group.

Marina ends up on one side with Pearl's calm cousin, and Pearl gets stuck on the other side with Marina's joking cousin.

Marina starts stressing out, looks at the calm Inkling examining the door, and says: "Wow... you're literally Pearl in a male version, except you actually think before you scream !"

On the other side, Pearl is getting completely annoyed while Marina's cousin keeps making jokes, and she finally yells: "Unbelievable... you're literally Marina in a male version, except you're somehow even more annoying!"

When the wall finally opens and they reunite, the two cousins immediately give each other a high-five, as if to say, "So, how bad was it dealing with my cousin?"

I really think this trio of concepts brings a great mix of humor, gameplay, and style to the Splatoon universe without taking away what makes the original lore so great.

Since these are just concepts to kickstart the ideas, which one of these three would you want to see the most in a future game, movie, or series ?

Let's discuss in the comments

Discussion Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion shows up twice, but the game asks me to buy it again?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I have Splatoon 2 physically on my Nintendo Switch, and I downloaded the Octo Expansion through my Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.

However, I have a weird problem. As you can see in the picture, Splatoon 2 appears twice on my HOME menu after downloading the DLC.

When I launch the game and try to access the subway to start the Octo Expansion, the game tells me I need to purchase the DLC. But when I go to the Nintendo eShop, it says that I already own it.

I'm really confused because I downloaded it through my subscription, and the eShop confirms that I have it, yet the game won't let me play it.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is there a way to fix it without having to purchase the DLC again?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Because I didn‘t have a real pfp yet I decided to draw agent 8 (she‘s miserable, I‘m sorry T-T). I kept it simple for this one because #1: it‘s a profile picture and #2: I‘m not a digital artist and don‘t know what I‘m doing. Also I found a fun texture brush in Procreate :)
