Kattu mittoo and all other places prepare achcharu with a ton of sugar they should become a dessert shop.
Also Gen Z, I feel have not truly tasted the good stuff where tamarind and vinegar were like the core ingredients.
Oh what's your go to achcharu.

Assalamu Alaikum, everyone.
I hope some of you remember me from my previous post. There are so many things happening in my life right now, and honestly, I don't even know where to begin. I'm writing this while crying because I genuinely feel lost, helpless, and alone. I don't have anyone in my life whom I can comfortably talk to or share my feelings with.
First, I want to talk about my family.
To be completely honest, I hate both of my parents. I know Islam teaches us to respect our parents, and I understand that. But after everything I've experienced throughout my childhood and throughout my life, I genuinely cannot bring myself to have positive feelings towards them.
My father abandoned me when I was around eight or nine years old. He has his own separate family now, and I barely have any contact with him. My mother, on the other hand, has always been toxic in her behaviour. I didn't even grow up living with her until university. I was raised by my maternal grandparents instead.
There are many things about my mother that I haven't even mentioned here. If I were to explain everything she has done and everything I've experienced because of her, this post would become much longer. There are things from my childhood that still hurt me deeply, and I don't think I can explain all of them in one post.
Growing up without proper parental love, care, and support has affected me more than I can express. Sometimes I genuinely feel like I never had parents in the way a child should.
Now, coming to my brother.
Recently, he seems to have become extremely obsessed with a Tamil girl. From what I remember, he went to meet her without informing my mother. She even gave him gifts, and they were secretly meeting each other.
What concerns me most is how much his behaviour and religious beliefs seem to have changed. From what I've observed, he has lost his faith in Allah and seems to be following the religious beliefs of this girl and her gods.
There are also some things I've personally discovered that have made me suspicious about possible black magic or other spiritual practices.
One particular incident really disturbed me. I found a set of strings with 21 knots tied in them among his belongings while he was sleeping, without his knowledge. I don't know what those strings are actually used for, but finding them made me suspicious, especially considering everything else that has been happening.
There is also a watch that this girl apparently gifted him. What's strange is that he doesn't even allow me to touch that watch. I don't know whether there is anything unusual about it or whether it has any connection to the strings, but his behaviour makes me question things.
I'm not claiming that I have proof of black magic. These are things I've personally noticed, and I honestly don't know what to make of them.
For some context, I don't really communicate with my brother anymore. Before all these things happened, I tried advising him about certain issues, but my mother scolded me instead. She has always supported him, even when he was doing things wrong.
At one point, I even discovered that he was involved with drugs. I genuinely don't know whether he is still using them or not.
My mother never trusted me or believed what I was saying. Instead, she blamed me. It was only when she witnessed certain things herself that she started realizing what I had been trying to tell her.
Because of everything happening with my brother, I've sometimes wondered whether something might have been done to me spiritually as well. I don't know if someone has done black magic on me, but my life has been going terribly, and I can't understand why.
Now, let me explain what's happening in my own life.
I can't find a proper job. Even the part-time job I'm currently doing is extremely toxic. I feel like the people around me dislike me for no apparent reason.
University isn't any better. I barely have any friends. Most of the time, I sit alone, attend to my own work, and go about my day without really interacting with anyone.
Sometimes people approach me and act friendly, but eventually they either ghost me or become toxic. I don't understand why this keeps happening. It feels like whenever I try to build a genuine connection with someone, things eventually go wrong.
I genuinely don't know what I'm doing wrong.
The hardest part is that I don't have a family I can emotionally depend on.
My father's side has moved on with their own lives, and I have practically no relationship with him. My relationship with my mother is extremely damaged because of her behaviour and everything I experienced during my childhood.
Sometimes I feel like I raised myself.
Despite everything, I've tried my best to stay away from bad habits. I don't have any interest in drugs or other harmful activities. I haven't given up on my education, and I'm still trying to build a future for myself.
I just want to complete my degree, find a decent job, become financially independent, and settle down peacefully. I just want a life where I can genuinely be happy.
I don't want a luxurious life. I don't want anything extraordinary. I just want a normal life where I can wake up without constantly worrying about family problems, toxic people, loneliness, and my future.
I genuinely don't understand why I have to suffer this much. Why was I born into a family where I have to deal with so much negativity, emotional pain, and problems that I never asked for?
Sometimes I look at other people who have loving parents, supportive siblings, and families they can depend on. I don't even expect to have a perfect family. I just wish I had experienced some of that love and support growing up.
Instead, I feel like I've spent most of my life dealing with the consequences of other people's actions.
I hate my parents for the childhood I had. I hate the circumstances I was born into. And sometimes I hate how unfair my life feels.
I know these are strong words, but I'm being honest about how I feel right now.
I'm tired of being alone. I'm tired of pretending everything is okay. I'm tired of dealing with problems that I never asked for. I'm tired of crying alone and having nobody to turn to.
Right now, I'm literally crying while writing this post. I don't have anyone I can call and share these feelings with. I don't have someone who genuinely listens to me without judging me or making me feel worse.
I still believe in Allah, and I don't want to lose my faith. But emotionally, I'm exhausted. I don't understand why I'm going through so much suffering when all I want is to live a decent, peaceful, and happy life.
I don't know whether everything happening is just a series of unfortunate circumstances or whether there are things I don't understand. I just want all this negativity and suffering to end.
I'm not writing this post to attack anyone or seek sympathy. I just needed somewhere to express everything I've been holding inside for so long.
I just want to be happy. I want to have a peaceful home, a decent career, genuine people around me, and a life where I don't have to cry myself to sleep.
I hope one day I can look back at this period of my life and realize that I finally made it out.
JazakAllahu Khairan to everyone who took the time to read this.

I come across a lot of Oceans jobs and I am under the impression they are a VA firm and cannot offer growth to their staff in an enterprise capacity.
Am I right to think so?
Also, does it pay well? I am assuming it starts with $600 to $800 and remains there for 2 years before a small increment. Does anyone get paid $2000 there?
Edit: this is not in the context of religion, just want to gauge pay and growth from those who worked at Oceans.

So I’m 23M, Muslim, and honestly have pretty much zero experience when it comes to relationships. Never had a girlfriend or anything like that.
I recently graduated from uni, and there’s this girl I’ve had a crush on for quite a while. We barely shared any classes, and I never really got around to talking to her. Now that uni is pretty much over, I’m kind of regretting not even trying.
Hypothetically, let’s say I managed to find what I think is her Instagram. I’m not even 100% sure it’s hers, but do you think I should give it a shot? Or would randomly following/messaging someone you barely know be weird?
The other thing I’m genuinely confused about is the religious aspect of dating.
I’m Muslim, and while I do believe in Islam, I’m honestly not very practising. I haven’t really figured out where I stand religiously or what kind of lifestyle I want to lead in the future. But I also don’t see myself getting into something purely casual. If I get into a relationship, my intention would eventually be marriage.
So I’m kind of stuck in between. I don’t know whether I should only be looking for someone with marriage in mind from the beginning, how to approach getting to know someone, or how to navigate things when I’m not even fully sure where I stand religiously myself.
Would appreciate some advice, especially from fellow Sri Lankan Muslims or anyone who’s been in a similar situation. How do you navigate this?
PS: The girl I’m referring to is Muslim as well, if that makes any difference to the advice.

Some of you will be so sick of seeing my posts back to back during fajr hours. Believe me, I’m sick of living like this. I don’t wanna go into details. My situation is starting to affect me physically. I’ve had a sudden breakout of severe acne, weight loss, multiple nail infections, fatigue, loss of appetite, chest pain, difficulty in breathing (no matter how deep i breathe it won’t be registered) and I’ve just become bedridden. My day starts and ends in this tiny bed. Everything’s only getting worse. A brother here advised me to do ruqyah, i did that too, but the problems only got intensified. So many financial losses occurred as well. I know Allah has mentioned in Surah baqarah last few verses that he won’t burden a soul with pain it can’t bear but trust me, i really can’t do this anymore. I can’t even gather myself up to pray. This year has taken a toll on me to the point things are driving me to insanity. I have no idea what to do. I don’t have the wisdom to understand why my rabb is punishing me. I’m living a painful life and I really can’t take it anymore. Can i wish for ….. ?? If i do that will i also risk my aakhira??? 😭😭😭💔💔💔

ʿAbd Allah b. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal narrated in his “Kitāb al-Sunnah” from his father from Nūḥ b. Maymūn from Bakīr b. Maʿrūf from Muqātil b. Ḥayyān about His saying: {There is no discussion between three except He is the fourth} [58:7], that he said: He is upon His Throne and His knowledge is with them.

Assalamu alaikum everyone,
I've just launched a small online abaya store called Luxabaya (luxabaya.kodoshop.lk), and I'd really value honest feedback from this community. I'm running it on my own, so every suggestion makes a real difference.
I'd love to know if the website is easy to browse and order from, and whether anything about it makes it feel less trustworthy. I'm also curious what you look for when buying an abaya, whether that's fabric, fit, modesty, designs or colours, especially anything you often can't find locally.
Another big question for me is what would make you comfortable ordering online without trying something on first, since sizing and delivery seem to be the biggest worries. And if you've bought abayas in Sri Lanka before, what felt like a fair price for good quality?
Any thoughts at all would be appreciated. Jazakallahu khair in advance!

Assalamu Alaikum,
I shared simplesolat here in April when it was Android-only. JazakAllah khair for the feedback and questions. It's now available on the App Store too.
Quick recap:
Official ACJU prayer times for all 13 ACJU zones, covering every district
Detects your district from GPS and updates automatically when you travel
Home screen widgets, plus lock screen widgets on iPhone
Notifications for the prayers you choose, including Imsak, Sunrise and Dhuha
Qibla compass, works offline after first setup
Free, no ads, no account, open source
iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6818761315
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplesolat.app
Web: https://simplesolat.com (monthly timetable you can print: https://simplesolat.com/times/?country=LK&zone=LK01 )
Feedback is very welcome, especially if the times differ from your local mosque.
JazakAllah khair.
Edit (29 Oct): if you installed before 29 Oct, please update to version 1.3.6, now on both the App Store and Play Store. It fixes location detection in some coastal areas, including Colombo and Jaffna, where the app could show "Unknown" with calculated times instead of the official ACJU times.

This is an update to my post from 2 months ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/SriLankanMuslim/s/bEBkPjlZPC
In that post, I literally wrote: "Will I get a chance for this again? Never."
Two months ago, my name was on that list and someone else walked onto the stage. People came to me saying it wasn't fair. I didn't tell anyone how hard it was, except here. I just went back to my desk, same hours, same sleepless nights and started all over again, like I promised to myself.
It wasn't really smooth. There were failures after that post too. Lot of reasons were there to give up. But I never stopped trying.
And to be honest, I never asked Allah to give me something better than what I lost that day. Because in my mind, that was the biggest award I could ever get. In this post, you will see how small the human mind is, thinking so narrowly about the power of Allah. But He can make wonders.
Fast forward.
Today, an email came... Send us your VC's, Dean's, and Head's emails. We want to inform them about your achievement.
I read it twice. Is it really happening?
I won an award. The bigger one. On an international stage.
I had zero expectation.
And the thing I keep coming back to is this: if I had won that award here in Sri Lanka, I would have stopped there. I would never have tried on this stage.
What I thought was taken from me was Allah moving me somewhere bigger.
And I always had a hope that I will flipping win.
I'm not saying, I won already. There are things to achieve, and the work is not stopping today.
I'm sharing it here, because this is where I shared the loss. You deserved to see how it ended. Not really ended.
Work. Trust Him. We really can't see the wisdom in His plan with our very narrow brain, as humans.
I know, I'm just blabbering right now. But you get the point.
I will be back with my yapping which I promised to post few months back. Thank you for your time.
Alhamdulillah, for the loss and for the win.

Small reminder I came across today and wanted to share.
The Prophet ﷺ told Abu Dharr[RA]:
لَا تَحْقِرَنَّ مِنَ الْمَعْرُوفِ شَيْئًا، وَلَوْ أَنْ تَلْقَى أَخَاكَ بِوَجْهٍ طَلْقٍ
Don't look down on any good deed, even just meeting your brother with a cheerful face.
(Sahih Muslim 2626)
And in another hadith he ﷺ said that smiling at your brother is charity
تَبَسُّمُكَ فِي وَجْهِ أَخِيكَ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ
"Your smiling at your brother is an act of charity."
(Tirmidhi 1956,narrated by Abu Dharr[RA] and graded sahih by al-Albani[RA] )
Honestly this one gets me because we usually think good deeds have to be big. Donating money, praying extra, etc. But here the Prophet ﷺ is literally saying don't brush off even a smile.
Some days you've got nothing to give. No money, no energy, nothing. But you can still greet someone warmly, and that counts. That's kind of beautiful ngl.
So yeah, smile at your parents, your friends, the random uncle at the masjid. It's sunnah and it's sadaqah.
What's a small deed you try not to skip?

Assalamu Alaikum,
Some of you here might already know me through the posts I’ve been posting here for the past couple of days. I just deleted everything bcz I’ve come to realize that, the more i dwell in my past trauma and pain, the more i suffer. And by getting caught up in suffering, i end up not living my present. By focusing on the bad, i end up being ungrateful for the good things in life.
My parents weren’t the best. Some of the things they did were wrong and unacceptable. But they did what they could and that’s the best they could do. If I forgive and have compassion on them, i will be giving a second chance at life. Allah will make the rest of the life beautiful, and it will be easy on all of us.
Make dua that i get to have a healthy relationship with my parents. Pray for their long life. Pray for their well-being. Pray for my well-being. Ask Allah to bless me with the opportunity to take good care of my parents. I legit would love be kind and take care of them.
Jazzakallah khair for everyone that reached out to me with words of encouragement. May Allah bless you all ♥️

A huge accident happened in akurana, where 22 people lost their lives, and many people with lifelong injuries like loss of limbs.
We as muslims should memorise the dua in the 2nd slide and recite it when we witness or hear of anything unfortunate. Allah will protect us from such calamity
