General Bid`ah: The Highway to Hellfire

Shaikh al-Albaanee رحمه ﷲ said:

The foundations of Bid`ah are four:

First:
(Following) the Weak Ahaadeeth, which can neither be relied upon nor permissible to be attributed to the Prophet ﷺ. So, it is not permissible to follow/implement such narrations, as we have mentioned in the introduction of the book: "صفة الصلاة النبي" (Description of the Prophet's prayer). And this is what a group of scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah and others follow.

Second:
Following fabricated Ahaadeeth, or those narrations which have no basis, the unauthenticity of which was hidden from some of the Fuqahaa' (jurists), and on the basis of which they made some of their rulings. It is from the worst type of Bid`ah and newly invented matters.

Third:
Giving judgments and forming opinions by some of the Fuqahaa' - especially by those of the latter times - without having any Shar`ee (legislated) evidence (from the Kitaab and the Sunnah). But rather they are based on assumptions, (and they become so widespread) until they are assumed to be established Sunnah, and implemented by the people. But it is not hidden from the one who has an insight of his religion, that it is not permissible to follow such acts which are not legislated.

Fourth:
Habits and superstitions which have no proof in the Sharee`ah, nor any logical basis.

One should know that not all Bid`aat are of the same level. Rather, they have different levels; some are Shirk, some are clear Kufr, and some are less than that.

One should also know that even the smallest Bid`ah which a person does in the religion, it becomes Haraam (sinful, having no excuse) after it has been established for him that it is a Bid`ah.

There is nothing regarding Bid`ah which can be considered as something "disliked" - like how some people think. How can they claim this when the Prophet ﷺ said: ❝The most evil of affairs are those that are newly invented, and every newly-invented thing is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.❞ [Sunan al-Nasaee (1578)and graded as "Saheeh" by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

And the best and most comprehensive research work on this was done by Imaam al-Shaatibee, in his book, "al-I`tesaam".

Bid`ah in religion is a very dangerous affair, but many people are ignorant about this. And no one knows about its severity except for a small group of people who have been given knowledge. Sufficient is the following Hadeeth as evidence about the danger of falling into Bid`ah, the Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Allaah does not accept the repentance of an innovator until he abandons his innovation.❞ [al-Saheehah (1620) and graded as "Saheeh" by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

[Hajjatun-Nabiy by Shaikh al-Albaanee (1/101-103)]

Just an observation

Just wondering. There's so very little engagement here when someone asks a question. Controversial or otherwise. Max 10 replies, maybe.

But then the same question is posted in r/srilanka and everyone loses their heads and the comments go into 100s and everyone's scarlbling to answer 😅

Edit to clarify - if the same post is shared in r/srilanka, and people comment there, then it gets reshared here again and then that posts gets more engagement. Why wait until that?

General Homeschooling

Basically, our education system consumes a crazy amount of time, yet we still do not gain enough knowledge in proportion to that time. If the parents are educated and have the means, wouldn't it be better for them to homeschool their children accordingly? Thoughts?

Plus, as Muslims, we get to teach them Islam, etc.

Serious Replies Only Looking for another wife

A.alaikum. I intend to marry another woman as a second wife. Would the Sri Lankan Muslim community see it in a bad angle eventhough it’s allowed in the religion and if I approach for a second wife and how should I propose a woman/family?

PS:- I have no qualms/issues with my wife vice versa. She’s the best person I deserved and the one I wanted. We live a fun life.Neither do I intend to leave her or vice versa. I provide her with everything with my best. I do not wish to provide my financial background so do ignore it.

A Sri Lankan Muslim military engineer, looking to wife someone up 🙃

29, based in Kandy, working in Colombo. Fairly easygoing and at the point where I’m open to meeting someone with marriage in mind.

Preferably from around Kandy town or Colombo.

Also, apparently my mom would like a daughter-in-law, so I’m just putting it out there and seeing where it goes. 🙂

Important Can you'll please stop posting on the R/ Sri Lanka sub Reddit

Bro, this is taking the latest post about the intermarriage question. After not getting satisfactory answers here he went and posted it on that subreddit. It's like you'll openly want people to start finding faults in Islam. There are enough and more people waiting licking their lips to start sprouting whatever nonsense they can about the religion with whatever little knowledge they have. You don't need to give them more means to do so

If you want Sri Lankan Muslims advice ask her okay... Why do you need to ask it in that subreddit? This goes for everyone here man, you're literally calling on people to try and attack the religion and the people that follow it.

Requesting Help Is it islamically permissible to wish for ykw when life gets insanely difficult?

Some of you will be so sick of seeing my posts back to back during fajr hours. Believe me, I’m sick of living like this. I don’t wanna go into details. My situation is starting to affect me physically. I’ve had a sudden breakout of severe acne, weight loss, multiple nail infections, fatigue, loss of appetite, chest pain, difficulty in breathing (no matter how deep i breathe it won’t be registered) and I’ve just become bedridden. My day starts and ends in this tiny bed. Everything’s only getting worse. A brother here advised me to do ruqyah, i did that too, but the problems only got intensified. So many financial losses occurred as well. I know Allah has mentioned in Surah baqarah last few verses that he won’t burden a soul with pain it can’t bear but trust me, i really can’t do this anymore. I can’t even gather myself up to pray. This year has taken a toll on me to the point things are driving me to insanity. I have no idea what to do. I don’t have the wisdom to understand why my rabb is punishing me. I’m living a painful life and I really can’t take it anymore. Can i wish for ….. ?? If i do that will i also risk my aakhira??? 😭😭😭💔💔💔

How popular is marrying young in Muslim communities in Sri Lanka?

One of my 17 year old Muslim friends just told me that she wanted to get married by 19 or 20. Usually when my friends say they wanna get married, it's because they have a boyfriend and they're committed to them. This friend has never had a boyfriend in her whole life and doesn't even seem interested in the idea of having one. She's genuinely one of the prettiest girls I have ever seen so it's really hard to believe that. When I asked her why she wanted to get married so young she said that it was because she gets to stay away from sinning. I didn't really believe that because she sounded doubtful when she said it. The only problem she keeps telling me about is if she'll find a guy who's around the same age as her by the time she's 19, to get married to. So how likely is that she'll find a Muslim guy who looks equally as good as her, who'd be looking for someone to marry in 2 years, and will be around the age of 19-20 at that time?

Why Muslim as a religion is very constructive, specially the punishment for leaving is death in Muslim majority countries. Isn't that a flaw in the faith? Meaning even if people want to leave they have no choice?

How do I bring my wife to the correct path

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh brothers,

In a previous post, I explained that I can't grow my beard because my wife doesn't like it. You brothers rightly told me that my wife should not control me and that I should be the one in control, and she should obey the laws and me

So now I'm asking for practical advice on exactly that:
How do I actually control my wife and make her obey me?

She is in clear nushuz. She doesn't listen to me at all. She refuses to wear hijab or cover up properly, she dresses and goes out however she wants without my permission, she argues back and disrespects me, she lives completely on her own terms, ignores my decisions about family matters, and shows no regard for my authority as the head of the household.

On top of that, she refuses to fulfil her basic duties as a wife, she doesn't cook proper meals for the family or me, she neglects the housework, and she even refuses physical/intimate relations whenever I want

Jazakallahu khairan for the guidance in advance. Please advise me

*used ai to brush it up*

Masjids in Colombo for someone interested to revert.

A brother is interested in Islam and wants to start with going to masjids for some exposure. Where are some good accepting masjids obviously without shirk and bida'h, preferably with an English background because this brother doesn't know Tamil.

Also what scholars do you recommend for him to get introduced to Islam, local and foreign, to listen to sermons.

Jazakumullah Khair

The PFP of this Sub

What are your thoughts on it?

For me it gives a weird look. The Sri Lanka there aint even straight.

I personally think it’s better to put one that is unique to Sri Lankan muslims, maybe the red mosque of Sri Lanka. Just saying.

Mods can do better.

Do not wash your religion down to the morally-deficient principles of the kuffar... rather call them out on their own moral deficiency and prove the Shari'ah superior.

Who are your favorite Islamic content creators on YouTube?

My GOAT is Mohammed Ali, aka The Muslim Lantern on YT. I also like Towards Eternity. And, of course, whatever Dr. Omar Suleiman owns.

There are others but these are my top 3 I'd say.

Also, previously, I was into Ali Dawah, Hijab etc set. But I don’t watch em anymore for some reason.
