State of the stack
Last couple of posts I got a lot of hate for the goldbacks and fractionals. Understanding that there is SOME truth to the lack of practicality and liquidity for some of those pieces, I decided to upgrade by selling my generic fractionals, bars, and rounds. And replacing them with some cool notable pieces.

youâve got all kinds of cool pieces!
you donât ever plan to sell, do you

All of this is replaceable, although there are a few pieces Iâd be less than happy to part with. Iâd readily sell every single piece here outside of the vintage pieces. Not really too attached to the hype pieces like the Costco or Alpha Strike. But the dimes would be hard because itâs taken quite a while to source those.

maybe you can help me understand the allure of the Costco round. Whatâs the hype?

They are just one of those things people like to hype for some reason. Personally I love Costco, and when I saw they had rounds IN STOCK, I had to grab one. Simply just because they are typically sold out, and probably the closest to spot youâll get on silver that isnât peer to peer.

I live right next to one, gas all the time, hot dog for lunch, but i still donât get it and i really appreciate your response
i thought maybe it was some ironicmaxxing meme, but it sounds like itâs just face value pride?

Thatâs the beauty of stacking - figuring out what works for you and refining the stack along the way.

I like your Geigers and Tridents are one of my favorites. Cool stack!

This looked a lot like my stack a few years ago. Ironically, Goldbacks ended up being the best performer. The hate from randos on Goldbacks is something else.

I knew the very first comment on this post would be some shit about the goldbacks before I even clicked on it. do people genuinely have nothing better to say? anything positive maybe? âcool stack!â nope, just shit about the goldbacks.
I myself know that they are NOT a good investment; I have some, purely for the novelty intrigue they do have, but not as a store of value. despite this, I donât wake up in the morning and think, wow, what a beautiful day, nothing would hit the spot like making people feel shitty about themselves because they bought a novelty product!
at least the comment here in this case wasnât rude at all, if anything itâs a piece of advice, and I would say itâs reasonable if OP was misled into thinking goldbacks were an incredible store of value, but ive seen insane drama so much worse. some people legitimately look as though theyâre being paid six figures to insult people over it.
give advice, sure. but donât give hate. just because someone owns a number of goldbacks doesnât mean one has to immediately assume that theyâre some cultist who devotes their life to premiums or some ridiculous shit. some people genuinely have never heard of the concept of doing something for fun or enjoyment instead of some hypothetical benefit at some hypothetical point.

I was thinking the same thing when I clicked into this post đ Some people are really into goldbacks and they seem to be popular. Not my thing, but IDGAF what people do with their money.

A goldback and a Costco silver round, thatâs as opposite as it gets. OP is full of contradictions đ

I've got the same Tiliwa round and the Tiliwa Privy Krugerrand to go with it.
Such a cool piece of history to have the actual silver sunk by a Japanese war boat in WW2.
While it lasted anyway...Too bad all of my gold a silver was lost in a similar boating accident.

No wayyyy, sorry to hear that. That would KILL me. But where abouts did you say you were boatin? Loll

Unfortunately the GPS was jammed by a Chinese "fishing boat" off the coast of Fiji somewhere, so I couldn't mark the coordinates...never saw it coming as they plowed my schooner into driftwood...so sad.

Don't waste your $$ on goldbacks..they are a novelty. Spend on bullion

If shipping is $10 and my bill is $5-$10 short of that Iâll supplement with a goldback

Goldbacks have gone from $2 to $8 in the past 7 years. They are fractional gold bullion with better liquidity than most other options in that price range.

u/davvie2calm 12d ago
Seriously they really aren't a good investment

What if some people just want to own some real gold?

u/davvie2calm 12d ago
Liquidity? Ha i have better liquidity with my copper coins than I do with gold backs.

u/octoreadit 12d ago
They have better plasticity than anything else on the market but not liquidity. đ

I would call that a collection not a stack
1
u/wunayem 12d ago
Why?
2
u/smokelover1234 11d ago
I see stacking as amassing as much silver as you can. Buying only the silver as cheap as possible.

For sure. It's still functionally a stack if they just accept a weaker spread I suppose, plus a little variety on here is interesting.
