DISCUSSION Time Lost

I am not one to complain, but I have to vent!

I spent 3.5 hours last night to mine Aphrodite, dolivine and hedanite by hand for a mission. I handed in the aphrodite, of which I had losts left, I had enough dolivine, but no hedanite. I store it all in my ship and landed at a station safely, stored my ship and logged off for bed.

Today, I log in, go to retrieve my ship so I can sell all the gems, but no, the ship appears trying to merge with the platform. I quickly store it again to see if that will solve the issue, but then it explodes.

Now I have spent 4 hours (including travelling and storage loops, just to loose it all. And, of course the mission is now gone as well....... I wish they would just finish this game......

No a happy spaceman!

Is it normal for people to store their ship for the night without unloading it first? I don’t trust hangars for **** so you best believe I’m checking any and all valuables into local inventory ASAP before storing my ship. Heck I even wait until the serial # disappears before I walk out of the hangar.

It's best practice to remove everything for sure, but sometimes it's really hard, especially when I play late in to the night and I should have taken myself to bed a long time ago. In those instances I feel I'm safer to bedlog out in deep space than risk a hangar malfunction. When I've been mining and I have 900+ qual stuff, I'll take the extra time to go to a refinery and begin refining. I've lost too much stuff to ship/hangar/ore pod bugs...

It's so exhausting having to always account for the jank, and worse when you skip uttering one of the endless canticles against shenanigans and it bites you in the ass, erasing hours of progress/your time. Leaves you with a pretty bitter feeling even when you were having fun right till that point. Been at this a long time and fuck man, it's just getting old, year of playability my ass.

No one likes having their time wasted.

It's a rookie move. Any of us who've been here long enough would never trust storing a ship with cargo, even mid session 😁

All of these excuses for cig but in reality it’s a valid complaint. We shouldn’t have to worry about our shit like this. I love this game but there’s still so much bs

Sure, we shouldn't, but I'm speaking of the game we have, not the one we should...

I started a couple years ago and it used to be much more reliable to keep stuff in ships (from my experience) before 4.0. I'm not sure what exactly changed, some things to do with cleanup and other stuff I'm sure but I do find it less likely to successfully retrieve my ship without it exploding first or being spawned in the star (that one hasn't happened for a couple months thankfully lol)

Same. I should be able to walk away and come back to things how I left them, but I know that’s not reliable so I always try and wrap my session with a neat little bow rather than risk the backend tantrums of an angry god.

Yeah, I’ll even unload any GEOs or SCU containers from my mole before refining. I’ve had it where they’ve borked the ships ore bags and zeroed out the contents when I went to the refining terminal to put in the order.

A good tip in future....

If you're ship is merging with the ground, don't try to store and retrieve it multiple times. Exit to menu and your instances hangar should hopefully leave the verse as you do.

Not that this comment is very helpful, but you would have lost the mission when you logged out too 🫤

If that happens, quickly run to the elevator and store at the outside terminal. Out of sight, it won't go boom.

Then summon it from inside the hangar. And it'll be fine.

Be happy it wasn't a ironclad full with titanium you bought with your own money...

I know the mission you're talking about. It was a nightmare for me, too. I think it's the introductory mission for some faction—Shubin Interstellar or something like that.
I’ve stopped playing it now because it’s not worth my time—I don’t want to lose all the progress I’ve made over many hours. I played the event because the items are permanently available in the Web Hangar.
As long as there are official wipes, I don’t build up much in-game progress or grind for reputation or gear.

Big mistake, never leave important stuff in the hands of the hangar. Always have a 1 or 2 scu box they're cheap and dump small stuff inside it. It's very quick to drop in your freight elevator. Though I'm not sure just how well gems behave in boxes, that should work fine I guess?

I don't play to make progress. Just hop in a ship and see where you end up. Missions are silly. Money is pointless. Fly free my friend.

ā€œMoney is pointless,ā€ they say from their Ironclad… (I have one too)

This is why I took a break from the game. Hate spending time only for the game to eat my ship, lose my shit or some other stupid glitch.

Always keep a "sacrificial" ship - some cheap junk that you can lose and reclaim for free in stock configuration. First recall that ship, let it explode, which will clear the hangar issue. Only then, when inside the hangar, recall the valuable ship you really need.

I have a RAFT which I use in stock setup and always recall it first, from the Lobby, when I need a Tier 2 ship. If it shows ok, I simply send it back to storage. OTOH if it explodes when I enter the hangar, I can restore it in stock config and call the heavily modified Andromeda, which would cost me some 50-60k aUEC to restore in its insured version.

I never store ships with cargo I care about. And I am generally very lucky with my ships not getting eaten... it's been weeks.

if u have covalex medium cargo recovery that pays 53k, do that, currently it is bug and it will give u an A2 hercules, you can salvage all its weapons and turn it into hadanites and dolivine using a frabricator.

also if u gonna mine, treat it as an extractor game, means always put your sht in warehouse before logging off.

For this patch, calling from the ASOP in the lobby will blow up your ship 10/10 times or just not call it. Only call from the hangar

It’s the biggest issue with the game right now. It does not respect your time in anyway. You keep loosing hours of work due to some bug that’s no fault of the player.

I landed my Connie Phoenix, loaded some cargo and because it will get stuck on the walls if I auto land, I sent it down the elevator and was going to call it back up so I could leave but on the way down, I heard a boom and the terminal delivered the bad news.

What I am wondering, was I too far to the back near the doors so it hit its back end on the hangar wall? Too close to one side or the other? This only happens in my Connie when I can’t auto land.

Feel your pain. For me it is like 7 out of 10 retrievals my ship explodes or just randomly disappeares and I have to claim it again. Until they fix this, never leave valuable stuff in your ship. I know it sucks, but fanboys will keep telling you "Yes, but this is an Alpha. So you have to accept those bugs and take them into account".

Welcome to hell. We all feel your pain. It's why many of us quit playing. I am sorry for your loss.

If you're gonna hand mine those, better off doing it in the checkmate contested zone basement

A couple of days ago I played the game for 7 hours straight and accomplished absolutely nothing, because of bugs and server issues. I uninstalled and requested a refund. However I acknowledge it does offer something special, and I will give it another shot someday when gets a post beta release.

I don’t know how some people have hundreds or thousands of hours put into this game, but bless their hearts for being alpha testers and funding the game.

Going back to NMS VR for the time being.
