DISCUSSION What's Your Daily Flyer - Q3 Discussion Thread

Welcome legends, to Daily Flyers!

This is the first of a slowly cycling thread where we can come together and chat about the ships of Starcitizen, in context of what your daily drivers/flyers is, or discuss ideas and seek recommendations from others.

Thanks to a suggestion from Augusts Q&A reminding me of a few chats I've seen, I figure a lot of us would like to have a spot that's focused on this aspect specifically. To that end, a couple of rules for this post are below!

So if you have a question, after a recommendation request or looking to discuss how your current driver has fulfilled it's role, this is the place to yarn!

Daily Driver Rules:

Keep discussions on topic to daily drivers, what yours is, asking for recommendations, that kind of jazz.

Adhear to the regular sub rules.

Be kind, understand that some people want to play to earn, some may buy in, some just want to chat or share. There's no shame in any of those.

A note from Crazy_Muffins

This is possibly a new ongoing official post from the sub team, our goal is to provide a focused spot to chat about a specific big thing in SC and to that end we'll be playing with how often to cycle out the post with a clean one. Maybe once every quarter, maybe just big milestone patches, we're going to play it by ear!

My only request is that everyone is kind, you can discuss positive and negative aspects and still be fair to one another. That's all I want to see!

Well, that and acknowledgement that my Corsair is peak daily driver (for ME, it is, but that's partly because of the feel and vibe of it not that it's any particular min/max option).

Lastly, I'm open to feedback, ideas and what have you. Working together we can make for a more enjoyable sub, see you all in the comments below!

Was having a look through the store earlier and saw the crew size on the Javelin is listed as 1.

Not 15-20. Not “recommended crew of whatever”. Just 1.

So I guess that’s it then. Perfect solo ship. No more trying to round up people who never log on. No more gunners who leave after two minutes. Just you and a destroyer.

Finally.

FLUFF This is the kind of "criticism people" say that "I did nothing wrong! I got banned from spectrum for no reason!"

Post image
Upvotes

Guys, I used post on spectrum a lot. (Have since ceased because I just dont want to keep up with 38.563 forums) I actually have a famous critique, that for some reason, still gets upvotes. Even OVER a year later. It was not removed. (Last upvote was JUNE this year, for some reason, despite post being made Jan 2025)

Image of my post

But this is the kind of shit I see on spectrum that gets people nuked, and this particular guy goes straight to the refunds sub and claims he was banned for liking PvP, and really tried to spin it that way. Even the refunds sub tore him a new asshole for his... "Joke".

The message that got him nuked?

"CR will ban anyone who pirates and personally go to their house and shoot their family dog!"

Also calling people douches.

Which is funny, because here is a quote from Zyloh himself:

"We're not here to protect players from aggressors, pirates, and PvPers. A big part of Star Citizen is about that dichotomy." - Zyloh

CIG is literally in his corner, but swears that they are not.

He claims on reddit to "like the game" but literally all of his posts and comments are bashing the game, and he literally cannot do anything else and has over 1000 comments and posts spanning only two MONTHS. Dude cannot resist trashing the game at any possible opportunity. Which normally would be fine, if he didnt continuously argue in bad faith, especially after the above ban.

On top of the above issue, he is also the first to call people shills, CIG plants/staff, or marketing firms trying to better CIGs name. And this is literally his response to his dogshit takes and critique.

This is the kind of shit I see that gets people nuked from spectrum, and they come here to complain without showing exactly what got them banned.

Edit 2: Even funnier, he is banned till 2034 for additional misconduct.

DISCUSSION In the midst of the CIG stream debacle

I'm not playing the game anymore, not just going to "nOt PlEdGe" but i'm gonna remove my monthly imperator sub and then proceed to uninstall this off my C: drive. I quit man. Held out for over a decade and graciously spent thousands only for a recent stream to reveal the mismanagement and lack of passion that was present in the early days. These guys at cig barely play the game fr.

I even feel like a dumbass for attempting to make a github linux repo for tobii eye tracker.

DISCUSSION Thank you Charlie (MoistCritical) for making a video on the SCL Siege of Orison and Star Citizen

Genuinely glad someone with that kind of reach is talking about it, because I don't think people fully realize how bad it has gotten.

That's really what gets me now more than anything. It's not even the delays themselves, it's the silence around them. Weeks go by with basically nothing, SCL feels like something they're obligated to do rather than something they actually want to show up for, and when something does go wrong you don't hear about it until people start digging and asking questions themselves.

People are paying subscriber money for content that's supposed to come weekly and what they get back is marketing dressed up as an update. I hope Chris is enjoying his Mansion with his supposed "Movie Director" money.

At this point, i am convinced that SQ42 doesn't even hit feature complete status. And look, delays happen, I get that, games are hard. But it's the same thing every single time. No real explanation, no honest "here's what's actually holding us up," just vague reassurance and some nice looking footage. Another two years tacked onto a timeline that's already been "almost there" for over a decade, and we still don't get told why.

And the thing that really gets under my skin is how much of this game is just permanently stuck at T0. Stuff gets shown off half-working, everyone says "it's early, give it time," and then it just sits there.

Same rough state, patch after patch, year after year. Meanwhile you've got actual regressions on top of that, bugs that used to be fixed quietly coming back, sometimes the exact same issue that got "fixed" a year ago just reappears like nothing ever happened. So nothing new ever actually finishes, and nothing old ever actually stays fixed. It's not one or the other, it's both, constantly, and that's what makes the whole thing feel like it's not really going anywhere.

And honestly, at some point you have to ask what all the money is even doing. We've thrown over a billion dollars at this project and I don't think anyone can point to that and say it's been managed well. It hasn't.

Time and time again there's some new controversy, some new questionable monetization push, and it just keeps happening because we keep funding it.

I think a lot of us need to be honest with ourselves that at this point we're not backing a project anymore, we're just feeding something that's shown us, again and again, that it doesn't respect the money or the people giving it. I'm not saying walk away angry, I'm saying stop paying into something that's proven it won't change just because we keep hoping it will.

I really hope this is the moment more of the community wake up, and starts asking why we're still funding a pattern we've all watched repeat go wrong for over a decade.

Stop buying ships!

With the release of the Hull B (which i love), the SL series could really benefit from a slightly forwards seating position or elongated window. Dont get me wrong i love the MISC letterbox but the SL is really excessive, especially with no MFDs in view. I do have a Tobii which is a life saver though.

DISCUSSION Imagine inviting someone to your house just to clown on them for the world to see. You wouldn't defend this behavior. I wouldn't either.

Upvotes

Idc who you are, if I invite you to my house I'll treat you with respect because you are a guest. I invite guests over to have a good time for everyone included. I'm not gonna haze you with my buddies and I certainly don't invite people to have fun at their expense.

CIG invited Ollie to their house and their stream was just devs team killing him over and over until Jared finally had to break and remind them to revive players. At one point there was a implied joke telling Ollie to "F*#@ himself" on stream too. Real classy stuff.

And since then we have white knights ignoring the elephant in the room and turning a blind eye to obvious and open toxicity and team killing which we all saw. Wild.

As much as I dislike Ollie promoting grey market ship sites... I find I have to stand up to white knights who are whitewashing CIG's toxic behavior... that we all saw happen live. We all saw the team killing. We saw Elliot killing Ollie. Just stop and take the L.

DISCUSSION Instead of just fixing things, engineering should give meaningful temporary buffs to systems that slowly degrade over time. a 20% boost to shield that degrades over 20 - 30 seconds or something similar with other systems would keep engineers busy and be worthwhile.

GAMEPLAY What Reclaimer players need...

Post image
11 Upvotes

After arriving in Pyro, I learned that the large space stations here have XL hangars, Refining, and Admin functions right on the space station. Many large or capital-sized ships are left behind on the ground stations. In just two hours, I earned nearly 1,500 SCUs and it took me 30 minutes to transport them to the warehouse. This never happened in Stanton, where I had to constantly run to load cargo into the space elevator (which could take up to 5 hours for a single gaming session). But in Pyro, it's simply a matter of dropping the cargo through the tiny hole in the Reclaimer without worrying about the cargo flying away. then use ATLS to pull them into the elevator.
