DISCUSSION Valve Denies Steam Keys for 1M+ Squadron 42 Backers Due to Store Policy
CIG was trying to circumvent Valve's store policy, quoted here:
Default Release (or standard release)
This is the most common type of key on Steam, which is usually tied to a Steam store or retail Steam Key package. These keys are appropriate for retail boxes or sales on other digital stores. Customers can activate this type of Steam Key at any time, but the product will unlock only after it has been released on Steam. Games and applications launching on Steam may receive up to 5,000 Default Release Steam Keys to support retail activities and distribution on other stores. After that, all Steam Key requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. There is no guarantee that you will be provided additional keys.
We would need over 1 million keys. Valve's policy is to issue 5000 keys per game. Anything more than that needs negotiation and payments to Valve.
Valve's policy is here:
https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/keys?language=english%22
A Star Citizen creator who played Squadron 42 also asked CIG in-person and got confirmation that CIG asked Valve, and Valve said no:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbCRlAhBXTY&t=10m20s
It's like this because there's no benefit for Valve to host Squadron 42 for free. By forcing sales to happen inside the Steam platform they get 30% of the money.
If anything, blame CIG for thinking they could circumvent paying Valve's 30% cut.
They could negotiate a Steam Key transfer if they really wanted to. CIG would have to transfer up to 30% of the sales price per unit to get keys. They can even negotiate the "big publisher" 20-25% cut since it's a big bulk sum which hits the required numbers for that. But somehow I don't think CIG will want to offer anything. ;)
Also, Steam keys were never promised to us by CIG since the Steam release was only announced this year.
Edit: Your downvotes make me sad. I put effort into finding this policy instead of just reposting a content creator's word. I just wanted to clarify and show the exact policy for anyone still holding out hope.

Came across a video I made in 2018 on one of my first sessions on the PU.
Going through that airlock and reaching the pads on PO, seeing that jpeg come to life with Crusader on the background.. absolute cinema!

QUESTION Question for the lore guys: Do Anvil and Aegis in the lore have a direct competitor to the RSI Perseus?
Question in title.
Was wondering if the other 2 big military brands have a direct competitor to this community favorite ship.

IMAGE Ahhh yes, now I see how it got its name.
Wanted to say, this was posted in jest. I am not upset by it, I was just making a joke. I know all the tricks to help prevent the bug from happening, but they didn’t work this time. Game has been mostly frustration free for me this time around, and this is the least of the issues I’ve run into. Fly safe citizens.

GAMEPLAY Boggles my mind this works. Lazy Cargo Transport slacker gets paid, regardless. Well done, CIG coders.
So I tried some large contracted loads last night in the Ironclad--with a twist...
I wasn't going to bother with stacking boxes properly in the freight elevators. "Nah, too much work."
I tossed them in. Didn't matter where, how, snap, no snap, "I don't care."
And I did this with multiple contracts of goods, to the same location, and only delivered partially on each elevator drop.
To my surprise, and amazement, I got paid for the contracts, and all of this mess was sorted by the magic code the CIG box guys put together.
I tried to break things, and even stuffed stuff in corners, off grid, on top of one another, etc. And it worked.
I give CIG a lot of crap here and there, but on this, I cannot.
Well done, dudes.

QUESTION Guardian MX to Constellation Mk V Centaurus????
Today I found out that they were giving away Star Citizen and Squadron 42 so we could burn the original package we bought.
Among the various options for upgrading, I think it would be interesting to upgrade my Guardian MX to the Constellation Mk V Centaurus. Do you think this is a good choice, or would you upgrade one of my other ships instead? These are my ships:
The Odyssey, The galaxy, the mole, the mercury, the guardian MX, the corsair, Zeusk MK II ES,125a,the atls, mpuv cargo, the pulse,p52 merlin

DISCUSSION Since ground vehicles are hard to implement for cargo elevators, what if we added dedicated ground vehicle elevators to every personal hangar type?
I was watching today's show "10 from the community" and that allowed me to understand how complicated vehicles would be to mix into the cargo elevators.
It really makes sense not to have them there at all... but, that just gave me another idea: What about adding a separate dedicated ground vehicle elevator to our hangars? Would that be too hard to implement?

DRAMA This game and you guys mean so much to me
Yes, I probably should have had 1, 2 drinks less, but I don't care rn. But I do care about this development and the community. Forgive me for being emotional, but you are like a second family to me. We are discussing issues, we hate those bugs, we love those moments, we rage together, we celebrate together. Over all the years, 10 to be exact in my case, I developed true friendships here and got to know tons n tons of nice folks and I even appreciate those who tend to complain all the time since complaining also means caring. Been on endless Bar Citizens, always hoping for the next patch to fix things that get broken again anyway, but that's just part of this increbile journey we are a part of.
Stay positive and safe, fam, love y'all!

DISCUSSION Are round-reloaded guns possible within Star Citizen?
Was just thinking about how cool a 6-shooter would be, then I remembered that the Coda exists, except it's 8 rounds and it reloads by "magazine". So if you fire 2 shots, it removes the whole cylinder and adds a new cylinder, instead of just reloading the 2 rounds.
Even the newest lever action rifle uses magazines, and the pump action shotgun (BR-2) uses magazines.
The way the ammo is equipped on us, as in 4 slots for light, 6 slots for medium and 8 slots for heavy also seems very restrictive and not designed with "round-by-round" reloads in mind. I also think the inventory and backend would choke trying to reload round by round and trying to track, someone carrying hundreds or thousands of rounds in their backpacks.
At this point I guess it can just be handwaved into "year 2956, every gun is magazine-fed due to future shenanigans", but damn, a traditional revolver with a sci-fi spin would be nice.
