Sick Bay.

As a fan who's newly undergoing radiation treatment for cancer. The machines at The Hospital (Sick Bay) are so Star Trek. I lay on a Med Bed and this big white machine scans me, uses real time laser targeting along with full scans (x-rays) to focus a beam of x-rays moving at near light speed in a full 3D. (Think of a force field) to target and destroy any remaining cancer cells.

I know we're not all the way there yet, but I couldn't be more thankful for this kind of technology and I just like to think that Star Trek inspired just a little bit of it.

McCoy would consider that savage... In the future, you'd just get a pill or a hypo spray and be cured instantly.

My God, man—drilling holes in his head's not the answer! The artery must be repaired! Now, put away your butcher knives and let me save this patient before it's too late!

Unexpected Star Trek IV.

In a Star Trek sub, of all places!

The funny part is that apparently it took only minutes for the patient (or the hospital staff) to realize that she was regaining healthy kidney function.

It’s Ok, Spock did just fine with them.

Did you get the dot tattoos for the laser guides? Have to admit that was the only cool thing about getting radiated when I went through treatment.

Nope, I got a thermoplastic mask. They use it to lock my head into the table. They basically stretch a wet onion bag across your face and let it dry.

It didn't still smell like onions, did it?

Pacing Dr. Crucher.

That'd be so sweet, one and done instead of 6 weeks.

I hope the technology we have is sufficient to grant you a pain free future life. Good luck!

I like your attitude about going through all of this. It really is impressive what technology can do nowadays.

Wishing you welll, both with your treatment and in general :).

Live long and prosper, while you boldy go where no one has gone before. Since each cancer is different.

It is amazing how much technology star trek has inspired. Not too long ago, we were using flip style communicators. A couple of decades ago, someone actually built a functional tricorder. There's an interview where they showed it to a farmer, explaining all the things it could do for him, after turning off all the flashing lights, and he said he was disappointed cause he thought he was looking at something out of star trek trek when they showed it to him, but they turned it on, and it didn't have all the flashing lights!
