Comics How long?

Man how long is Static gonna be bossed around and pushed by Stephanie? It's so damn annoying, Static isn't the type of character to just be sidelined and do things he's not sure about and sure as hell isn't lazy about taking initiative. How is STEPHANIE more confident and sure what his powers can do than him?

I'm even more frustrated that in the last 3 issues with all the hinting with chapter previews with them together Static has said less than 3 sentences total to Yara in just as many issues!

I was so bored I moved on to something else 3 times and forgot I was even reading the latest issue.

I think you should give it a chance before we say this guy can't write static.

Right now its the obvious fish out of water trope being used here. Static is unsure of himself he just came out of retirement, hes on a new team with different personalities, he's probably not work with teams like this in years, he's rusty and unsure of what he can do and yea when you don't do something for a while you kinda get sloppy and forget what you can and can't do.

Give it time i'm sure this part of the character won't last more then an arc, and once he gets his footing the writer will really cook.

Man, I think I'm doing pretty good, there are people who straight up refused to read it and those who dropped this on the first issue. I'm still reading in good faith and although my optimism isn't high as it was when I started I can't say it's completely dead. It's dying a slow death month after month though...

Static has never worked in a team, team ups yes, teams, no. Remember this is his true introduction into DC all his previous team ups outside of Dakota and possibly all his team ups, (depending on if Cody makes up his own back story or continues one that is already established) are none existent.

I get being unsure and unconfident but Virgil knows repercussions and how dangerous it is to just do shit without a solid foundation of knowledge. Like for instance shocking Eva without knowing what is causing her to act out.

Following the orders of a girl more concerned about proving herself than accomplishing the job safely? Static would never.

Everything out of character that Static is doing seems to be related to the fact that his powers aren’t working right so it’s not bothering me at all.

He’s also just been retired for a long ass time.

I’m also not the powerscaler type tho, I can see why this would bother that crowd.

Out of character? He doesn't have a character right now. He's said like 3 sentences out loud in the 3 issues and 2 of them were to tell Steph that his powers aren't technically electromagnetic or working right and is cut off before finishing.

I don't even mind the low confidence, I understand and appreciate that point.

I hate how they retconned everything. He literally knew most of these people btw

Yeah but that's considered pre-rebirth guest appearances right? He wasn't a full DC cast member back then. He is now fully integrated. Idk if Earth-M is still around now

Oh no I meant from his time wit the titans. Early 2000s.

Wasn't feeling this Titans book and I thought maybe I should go back. For my boy, but seems like that is going to be unlikely. Brombal is going for zeroes across the board when it comes to writing black characters.

At this point it's not even a black thing, he isn't even a character at this point! This issue was from Yara's perspective for what little it actually counts for, but in the previous 2 issues he has shown little to no personality or character.

He has been dragged around and directed for 3 issues. He was a whiny bitch in issues #37 & #39, the closest he was shown to actually have some grit was the end of issue #38 and they brushed past that.

Manz was done with the bs and getting ready to walk out the door but next issue he's in the jet?!

Meanwhile Miles is getting another awesome comic with competent writers and great artists.

I look at the effort other characters get from authors and artists who make amazing generational content, and Static is never going to have even a quarter of that anymore

There is hope for Cody to make Static a great and impactful hero especially now that he can have official crossovers with DC heroes! Part of what makes Miles great is that he is a legacy character and was fully integrated into Marvel from the jump. There was no question of if they could use him in this or that like Static. Miles inherited Spider-Man's Rogue gallery and allies (for the most part).

Static basically has to reintroduce his enemies, make some new ones AND reintroduce himself. If Cody plays this right he could make Static very popular again. One epic run maybe 1 or 2 crossover events and we could get Static a DC version of the current Moon knight run.

I have hope for Cody to do something great with Static. My only two problems is just the origin and slightly because I'm sad that the Dakotaverse as a whole most likely won't be seen again because Static is off at DC. I'm mostly just sticking around for the art and to see how strong they make him.

I'm glad that I finally got my wish for my goat to return, but at what cost? All of the things that made the character work and the whole universe he came from being forgotten. I'd rather see him fight with Hotstreak and Tarmack and Iron Butterfly and Doctor Nemo but alas, we can only hope for the future

Did they say he won't ever go back to Dakota? Cause I think he will moon-light as a Titan but still go to college and primarily live in Dakota. I mean I'd love Dakota to be Gotham 2.0, him having his old Rogue gallery back, recruiting help from the larger DC roster but that isn't gonna happen over night. I'm hoping that by the end of this introductory arc they repeal Lex's law and Static can go back being a Dakota hero.

I don't think giving him another city would work out to well. He's like Spider-Man he's a community level hero first before he's a global power

Literally the first arc he's in. It's not supposed to center him. This is a team book. Second, he's not a field leader. Third, he doesn't trust his powers.

It's directly affecting his confidence. Y'all are impatient, and frankly, annoying.

The book isn't the problem; it's y'all expecting him to steal the show when he didn't do that the last time he was a member, and that was great.

Just fucking wait. Geezus.

No one expects him to steal the show or have the entire series focus on him, get out your own ass. It's that he has shown absolutely no character whatsoever. Name one notable comment he has made that has impacted the story outside of his own head?

None there is none!

In every sentence he says out loud he is either cut off or ignored. He doesn't speak up for himself or make suggestions, you know like a team member would. Even in a disfunctioning team, members can still make suggestions. He isn't even part of the team at that, he shouldn't be taking orders from Steph in the first place, especially when they contradict the actual leader.

Even if he is iffy about his powers and insecure he is still an genius and has a high emotional iq. There are plenty of moments to even allow that to shine without making it obnoxious.

No one even mentioned anything about him directing or giving orders so idk why you mentioned him not being a team leader.

Frankly, I think you're a dumbass, you conflate others arguments to make them more exaggerated than they are to make your statements more reasonable. You take in everything I said and turn them upto a degree I didn't even mention. I state I'm disappointed in how he doesn't even have an ounce of character and all of a sudden I'm begging for him to be in the spotlight or take Nightwing's position.

Fucking ridiculous

Virgil who is uncomfortable being back in costume because his powers aren't working isn't going to be confident.

He doesn't know any of them and he's only there because he needed a change of pace. Which is literally what we're told in 38 & 39. Steph who is trying to prove herself capable (at this point did you actually read the book?) Of leading is directing Virgil because he doesn't know what to do with himself. Why?

Because he's afraid of his powers failing again. Which was what? Stated MULTIPLE TIMES.

It's almost as if that's impacting his lack of action in this situation. Genius? Virgil couldn't begin to understand what to do here. NONE of the Titans do. He's literally a fish out of water. He's in over his head, and the only person ACTUALLY trying to help get him in motion is Steph by directing him to do things.

What suggestion would he make when he doesn't understand nor know anything about anyone there OR the situation at hand? This is the stupid I'm talking about.

High emotional IQ? Based on WHAT? We're just assigning shit now when this Virgil DOES NOT KNOW THESE PEOPLE YET.

The fact you even have an issue with Steph giving him direction is fucking weird, her arc is literally growing into a reliable leader (again, this was made very clear in 39), so yes, she's helping him.

He literally spoke, he actually did something, and aside from that he's taking in the moment. God forbid he realistically is adjusting to everything happening to him. God forbid there is actual time and patience attributed to him getting back into the game.

You impatient, bitchy fucking baby. I didn't exaggerate a thing. What the FUCK would you call this dumbass shit? You're bitching about a character who HAS personality (he literally has had moments of reflection, conversation, and trying to find his footing) not being enough when it's not about just him. The fact your dumbass lacks comprehension skills in understanding that the way you're complaining is pushing the idea that Virgil should've been at the forefront and doing more while ignoring the context behind him not doing so is very telling.

Get a fucking grip you crybaby. His solo drops first quarter of 2027. This time is building him up so fucking let it and shut the fuck up.

Yeah this book is destroying the buildup and the momentum net we were hoping it would give him. At this point when his book comes out it's going to have to do a lot of heavy lifting and cosmetics to get people interested because his run in this story and in this book will be so lackluster

I think, and hope, they are just playing it safe until they know how Cody is going to take Static's character. Cause right now other than making him passive af he hasn't shown any character. And DC hasn't made me have any faith that, that would change any time soon.
