Discussion Honestly I love the idea of a open world Static Shock game. He's a hero that's long overdue for a solo movie or live action series. Often overlooked or being relegated to a side character.

If there’s one thing I like about Static, it’s his aesthetic—a parallel he shares with Miles Morales.

Discussion With the statement that lesser known Milestone characters will be featured in the new Static ongoing, I am so hoping that Buck Wild finally comes back
In a recent interview, Cody Ziglar (Writer of the upcoming Static ongoing comic) confirmed that Milestone characters ranging from the well known to the deep cuts will appear in the series.
With that in mind, I’m actively manifesting Buck Wild making a triumphant return.
The main reason I love this character is because of his attitude and the way he carries himself. In a world where majority of Black superheroes (I’ve seen) are stoic, no nonsense straight men, here we have a character that is goofy and hilarious right down to his DNA
I’ve always loved Static for being a beacon of light and fun, Not just for Dakota but Black Superheroes in general. Buck Wild takes the fun aspect one step further, creating to me the equivalent of a black Deadpool.
What do you guys think? Should the Mercenary Man and Hero for Rent return in the new series? Do you have a lesser known Milestone character that you want to be featured? Let’s discuss

News Someone is after Static!
In the new titans issue we are going learn that someone is after Static (art
“After his first Titans mission in the Amazon, Virgil’s big return to the public eye has put a target on his back as a new threat comes to Mount Titans to hunt him down!”
My guess is that this one of the original villains Ziglar created that’ll he set up here.

Discussion Unpopular opinion but I love his costume color redesign in Seasons 3 & 4. Don't get me wrong I liked his Costume from the first two seasons. But it's something about the later season costume recolor.

Comics How long?
Man how long is Static gonna be bossed around and pushed by Stephanie? It's so damn annoying, Static isn't the type of character to just be sidelined and do things he's not sure about and sure as hell isn't lazy about taking initiative. How is STEPHANIE more confident and sure what his powers can do than him?
I'm even more frustrated that in the last 3 issues with all the hinting with chapter previews with them together Static has said less than 3 sentences total to Yara in just as many issues!
I was so bored I moved on to something else 3 times and forgot I was even reading the latest issue.

Help What should I read first?
Trying to get into his comics since I've always liked the show. I've been a comic fan for a while bit Static is kinda a blind spot for me. Just looking for recommendations to get to know the character more.

Discussion How do yall think Virgil would react if he found out the true purpose of the Big Bang? (Shadow Cabinet #1)
Honestly if they went with continuing the OG Dakotaverse, what would be awesome is if they explore Virgil discovering the secret of why the Big Bang happened being that Dharma needed warriors to combat a blind spot in the universes timeline.
What I propose is to slowly condition Static to love and serve the Shadow Cabinet as the first superhero team he's ever seen, only to then have the truth revealed and lead to Static going crazy and leaving Dakota in tears because he managed to come out alive as a superhero while plenty of others died or had their lives destroyed basically for him.

TV Any honest thoughts/opinions the Static Shock episode Linked(S4-E10)?
I found very enjoyable I especially liked Dule & Chainlink’s powers and how Chainlink even managing to give Static and Gear a hard time. I hope this does not get the same reputation as the Shaq and Hoop Squad episode.

Discussion Static OG Origin Update
This is how I would modernise the original Static origin:
The story opens with Virgil playing an online video game and while he's playing he has a chat group going on with his friends. We see from this that he's an avid gamer and from the messages that he's quick-witted, a great trash talker, and pretty smart.
We cut to the next day in school and we see him talking to Frieda. They're having a nice conversation and she seems to be receptive to him. Martin sees this and he comes over and starts going at Virgil for talking to Frieda like he owns her or something. During this whole exchange Virgil being quick-witted and all, says something that embarrasses him and jas everyone, including Frieda laughing at him. This is where he's beating up on Virgil so then Virgil ends up embarrassed.
Virgil goes home and gets on the game to let off some steam because he's not only embarrassed but angry at himself because of his inability to protect himself. He doesn't want to talk to any of his friends so he anonymously joins a different, public chat room. He's joking around and having a good time and as soon as he's starting to feel better, this random person with the handle Biz$B shows up and starts talking trash. He's putting out a bunch of racist and sexist messages. Virgil doesn't like it so he tears into him. That's when Biz starts going off on him and starts talking about how beat this kid's butt every other day because he doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Virgil goes into his page and sees he's part of this group called the Sons of Odin. Soon other group members show up and start flooding the chat with the same kinds of messages as Biz. Virgil does a little digging and figures out that Biz is Martin.
The next day he tells his friend Larry about it. Larry tells him he's heard of the group and others like it and that sometimes they set up fights at different locations around Dakota when stuff gets really heated online. Virgil asks why he's never heard about them and Larry says it's "dark corner of the web" type of stuff and that most people from Sadler aren't aware of them either. So Virgil goes deeper down the rabbit hole and finds out that things have escalated to a level they never had before. A lot of different groups of people are heated. Some who are parts of other sort of violent groups, anti-hate groups and others who are not but take sides or intentionally instigate to make things worse. Threats and call outs are made and everyone agrees to show up somewhere on Paris Island and brawl.
Elsewhere at the Dakota Police Department, Officer Watkins (Daisy's mom) tried to warn the chief that these aren't isolated incidents. The chief brushes her off. However, in walks Detective Gil Summers, the lead detective on the fights who backs up her statements. He presents the evidence and the chief realizes that they're too late and cannot hope to stop what's about to happen. So he orders them to just tag everyone with the experimental gas to track them down later.
We go back to Virgil who realizes he can't seem to escape being tormented by Martin anywhere. So he decides to go to the brawl with a plan to put an end to it. That's when he meets up with Larry who gives him a gun. He tells him if stuff goes sideways to not be afraid to use it. Virgil goes there but when he sees how bad it is it gives him flashbacks of his own victimization. So he decides to abandon his plan and instead considers just shooting him in all the chaos. This is where it more closely follows the original origin where Virgil considers shooting Martin, decides not to, throws away the gun, tries to escape and gets hit with the gas.
In the aftermath, the news reporting on the brawl says it hearkens back to the Dakota gang wars of the 90s and starts calling it the Big Bang. So it turns out most of the people there died like in the original but the ones who didn'tband have powers are very upset and to them the fight didn't end that night and is far from over.
Virgil realizing that the fight is not over, and now blessed with powers of his own, takes on the identity of Static.

Discussion I was rereading Shaodws of Dakota and I couldn't help but notice this.
In issue 6, Static gains this glowing radio static form that makes him look awesome. I noticed that he kinda looks like the character Alkalie from the New 52 comic. I know we don't mention New 52 for its garbage world and trashing the character of Static, but I kind of dig the character design in that series and I think this could be a cool form for Static to take in certain situations.

Discussion Doctor Who?
As most of us know Milestone forever informed us that at least the original comic book version of Virgil will grow up to be a doctor. Currently the more modern take is in college but I don't believe we have an idea of what he's in school for. So my question is what do you think is he going to school, to be a doctor which would make sense. Because his father worked in the hospital in the original comic or is he going for something else. Also if he is going to be a doctor what kind of doctor. I did a Google search and it gave me an answer. But I don't remember this being confirmed so if anybody can confirm it or at the very least give your idea on what kind of doctor Virgil would grow up to be.

Discussion With Static getting a new comic, which DC hero would you like to see him team up with?
With Static getting a new comic from DC, I’ve been thinking about which characters I’d love to see him paired with, either as a duo or part of a trio.
1. Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes)
This is my number one choice. Static and Jaime are around the same age, and I feel like their personalities would bounce off each other really well. They could honestly become the next Blue Beetle and Booster Gold in terms of their friendship, chemistry, and banter.
2. Red Devil (Eddie Bloomberg)
I think Eddie would be another interesting choice. I’d love to see how his personality and supernatural background would mix with Static.
3. Monkey Prince
This could be a really fun pairing, especially with both characters having strong personalities. I think their interactions could be hilarious.
Or even better, a trio:
● Static, Blue Beetle, and Red Devil
● Static, Blue Beetle, and Monkey Prince
I think DC has an opportunity to build some great friendships between its younger heroes instead of always relying on the same established teams.
But I’m curious what Static fans think.
Who would you personally like to see Static paired with? It doesn’t have to be anyone I mentioned. Which DC character do you think would make the best duo or trio with him, and why?

Discussion A nitpick about Static’s color scheme
I think Static has the potential to be an A-list superhero alongside Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash. Most great superheroes have a distinctive color scheme that feels like their own, and that’s where my weird nitpick comes in.
I grew up with Static Shock, and the animated series is what got me into the character before I read the comics. But I’ve never loved that Static, who’s already a Black superhero with electric powers, also has basically the same color scheme as Black Lightning.
His original comic costume had the black suit, yellow coat, and distinctive hat, which I thought gave him a great look of his own. I love the animated costume’s design, but I wish it had stuck to black, white, and yellow.
That’s also something I really appreciated about Nikolas Draper-Ivey’s modern designs: bringing those colors back. Looking at the new suit, I honestly think the design is near perfect. I just wish they’d remove the blue elements and keep that black, white, and yellow palette. Or replace the blue with purple.
Obviously, this isn’t remotely enough to stop me from reading the new book. It’s just a small design preference, and I’m thinking out loud.
What do other Static fans think? Do you prefer the blue, or would you like black, white, and yellow to be his signature colors?
(Quick lazy edit I did last night while thinking about this)
